It's unfortunate that the people are getting to know more about the man they worked with now, then they ever have before.

A man who rarely opened up is now writing a journal and writing on the wall with condiments? Seems like he is finally at break down point. And now the vulnerability shows, knowing very well the forces has turned their back on him- what does he have left? Absolutely nothing.
I don't want to see him die, but I do want to see him imprisoned.

What's even more bizarre is the amount of females I have spoken to who think he is handsome and who wanted to get to know him, after all this information broke lose.
I sometimes think who is worse, the people who want to be in the victim's chair, or the perp?

Eeeck. People are surely perplexing.

I dunno guys. I sometimes wonder why they WOULDN'T think the following statement is true...

Posted By ROB TRIPP, THE WHIG-STANDARD

"Sources at Quinte say Williams, who is still receiving regular visits from his wife each week, is now considered a dangerous, conniving prisoner whose conduct is unpredictable."

Really? It is just occurring to them now, after he (laughably) attempted to kill himself? And they didn't think of it before now, I mean, he is accused of the rather brutal assaults and murders...

I wonder if the suicidal tendency showed up after a visit with his wife.

If I was in the same situation (accused of murder and assaults and held in jail I mean) I think that I might have tried the head dive off of the stainless steel sink if I was serious about offing myself. That is far more feasible than suffocation. But perhaps it is an offshoot of autoerotic asphyxiation. I see many long nights of weird research in my future:)

Completely based on my odd opinions, and not worth much:)

Clearly he has a thing for suffocation, so maybe he thought he could go out the way he had killed? JMO. Maybe the man is finally feeling something in his heart, although I could just be giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Could be "feelings", could also be an attempt to be "normal"- like showing the world the face you THINK they want to see (man "hurting" following crimes) instead of what you really feel (not much- shame at being caught- I dunno I'm swimming here!) A chameleon, a person that blends in by mimicking the emotions and actions that fit the situation, but not actually feeling them.

I concur- I have heard a number of people talking about the "handsome" man. I just don't know what to say about that!

What a ruse! This guy with all these "brains", gives up the chance to write a proper suicide note with a pencil (because he used it to run a test the day before) ends up writing some carp by squeezing mustard onto a wall and trying to suffocate himself with toilet paper and aluminum foil? Hmmm...Doesn't sound so "brainy" to me...Especially with the years and years of military training behind him. I have no idea what his incentive is but perhaps, for the first time in many years, he is realizing that he has nothing to lean on. The military will write him off in an instant and I would imagine that his wife is maintaining her visiting allowance to take care of her own affairs and to perhaps glean some additional information for LE.

MOO

I don't find him the slightest bit handsome but who is to say? I never met him in person. Also, why do we have this notion that people who kill are neccessarily "ugly"? Lots of women who met him said that Bundy was handsome.

"Feelings"..."heart"...Not words I would ever associate with someone who murdered two innocent women. Nope. Sorry. Can't buy into that. "Regret"? Maybe. Because they caught him and spoiled his plans. "Regret" - I'm sure he's got that.

I think RW's life is all about power and control ... his public life seems to have given him that, but in the dark compartment of his personal life, he needed power and control over women (which i would not be surprised if it is traced back to hatred of his mother, for whatever reason). He has now lost power and control in ALL aspects of his life ... maybe life simply isn't worth living to him anymore. JMO

As for handsome ... I agree with Panther. Many women fell for Bundy's good looks and became his victims. Regardless of the packaging, sks are all ugly on the inside.

Finally! I got a link that worked! I felt that this article was interesting, and appreciated the fact that they had 3 different opinions on the same event:)

Thought I would include the new link just in case others were getting the same 404 messages.

Suicide attempt not a guilty plea, say psychiatrists

"Psychiatrists say the attempted suicide by Col. Russell Williams should not be seen as a guilty plea.

Following last Saturday's incident where the former base commander charged with two counts of first-degree murder pushed a toilet tissue tube filled with cardboard and foil down his throat – in an apparent bid to choke himself to death – three mental health professionals share their views on the case."

My DH's ex is narcissistic, and my father is bipolar- I could see the behaviour being considered either. I have a great ebook on modern personality disorders....must re-read:)

Unfortunately, I still can't get either the link to work or a Google of the quote. It just says "not found", etc. I really was interested in reading this, too. :( Thanks for trying, PES.)

Odd- Would they have pulled it because it is about this case? Perhaps the legal eagle had something to say about it?

Will see what I can find in my history and try to copy n paste it in a message for you. I wondered if I should have done that this morning when I read it...Will know for next time.

EDIT- copied and pasted a copy that I found here:)

He is a "control freak" and in a confined situation. Talking, thinking, writing, and breathing are the only things he has control over and he is showing that he has taken control over ALL of them. Talking too much with LE, writing code in his journal, planning elaborate schemes, and suffocation. He is just responding to natural impulses and drive.

As for woman thinking that they want to get to know him, for any reason
other than for psychiatric purposes, makes me want to VOMIT!

I meant they think he is more good looking now, because of what he did.

Boy oh boy... So through networking I have come to a knowledge that an expert who has sat in on one of RW's discussions with LE said they wouldn't be surprised if he becomes the biggest serial killer in history (with more information coming to light, perhaps). Apparently a person on the mental health team is saying they are so very confused and stumped on RW.. That he has so many different "profiles", that he did everything so different aside from asphyxiation that it's entirely possible there are more numbers to be had. This person has said that RW is like 10 different people, all with different MOs and is most definitely a psychopath yet one of the most intelligent people they've come across in years. As far as progression goes, it's usually not common when profiling for an alleged serial rapist/murderer to go backwards in their approach, but fear the worst in RW's case.

I found it quite surprising to hear all of this, and am not sure why.

Not unlike what I have heard, though it is hearsay so I can't go into details. It is hard in a smaller community to NOT run into people that are somehow connected. I have a sneaking suspicion that this may take forever to get through the courts. It is very true that they are currently investigating EVERY place he every went, every place he ever slept. I cannot fathom the man hours this is taking.

Didn't someone post a while back that Marie-France Comeau had been stabbed? Was how she was killed ever in the newspapers?

RW is off suicide watch!!!!!

Alleged multiple murderer Col. Russ Williams has been taken off 24-hour suicide watch in jail — just days after he tried to kill himself and at the same time that he began a hunger strike, the Whig-Standard has learned.
http://www.thewhig.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=2524432

After the incident, Williams was assessed by a psychiatrist who concluded that he is not suicidal in the classic sense, but rather that he simply wants to die, sources have told the newspaper
For this reason, the onerous around-the-clock surveillance and restrictions in place since the weekend were eased Tuesday.
