It's a tough call summer. I can see some similarity in the eyes and mouth, possibly nose. The Dec/06 composite has hair, while the Sept/07 one does not. Also, the Sept/07 one has a double chin. Could have possibly shaved his head and gained weight?

I've been wondering if the "composite-bot" sketch would vary partly because a human artist could modify the drawing to be closer to what the victim/vitnesses reported.

Another consideration is if the offender is lying down or standing up when the victim gets a chance to formulate a picture.A face staring down at you is going to be flushed and puffy looking, as will an enraged face.I would imagine a cold, calculated type of offender, would have a steady gaze and tighter clench of the jaw.Light and shadow obviously can greatly affect how appearance is perceived.

A long shot, but this case came to mind when I that read R.W. had strawberry blond hair as a younger man, and of course the videotaping the crime and also the foreign clothing. The underwear on the head seemed well.... interesting.

In the Oakville attack, the assailant left behind a partial palm print, a black golf shirt with an unique emblem of a drake wood duck, and stained underwear, which he had worn on his head during the assaults. Police have never been able to determine where the shirt was made, although they traced the underwear to a Kenyan manufacturer.

Also,
The new unit is also re-examining a series of molestations linked to one man on 11 young female adults that took place in 2000 in the Bloor-Dixie area of Mississauga

Golf shirt with a logo of a drake wood duck? That's pretty specific. I wish they'd spell it out. Did it look like this?

ETA: From the black golf shirt photo on the Woodland Rapist thread, it's really hard to tell. Is it more like the Ducks Unlimited logo? Wish they'd make it clear.

Just realized these sketches also resemble woodland rapist composite drawing.

Funny, I just mentioned that in the LC thread!

1995 -- isn't that the year the Airborne Regiment was disbanded? Would Kenyan underwear be sold in Somalia?

Here's another thing that is unusual:

"“If he ever leaves his DNA behind, it’s a certainty he will be caught,” Doherty said."

From: http://news.therecord.com/article/630578

Compare that with this:

"The attacker took elaborate precautions. In each case, a source said, he laid bed sheets on the floor, or possibly blankets, and positioned the women and the chairs on the sheets.

When he was done, he took the sheets away with him, clearing the crime scenes of possible evidence, such as DNA traces."

This case always broke my heart.I lived there in the early 90's and yes it was an exciting, but scary area sometimes, especially walking past the youth centre there. On occasion the" cleancut" Ryerson students could also be intimidating after some refreshments.I really feel for the parents of this innocent young girl, who was just trying to earn a buck in the big bad city.

I'm not quite sure what to make of this. Originally I thought he was fired for firing his weapon:

http://edmonton.ctv.ca/servlet/an/l...urt-martial-100525/20100525/?hub=EdmontonHome

(Wonder what the other general's misuse of a computer involved?)

Interesting that a general was fired for alleged sexual misconduct. And yet, civilian police charges of alleged sexual assault and murder (including a soldier under his command) allow a Colonel to retain his title and paycheque, albeit while forfeiting command of a base. Does this have to do with locale, or are civilian charges subject to lower standards of scrutiny? I don't understand. Will this one keep his paycheque and title, too, since "it's a personal thing"?

I see the term "rising star" is no longer being used by the military (media still uses it) to describe those who climb the ladder quickly. Maybe a quick rise means a quick fall for those shooting stars.

Just in case:

"BRIGADIER-GENERAL MENARD J.B.D. , CD
COMMANDER

Brigadier-General Daniel Ménard joined the Canadian Forces in 1984. Upon completion of basic officer training, he was posted to the 3rd Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment, as a platoon commander. In 1987, during this first regimental tour, he served as aide-de-camp to the Colonel of the Royal 22e Régiment, General Jean-Victor Allard. Promoted to Captain in 1988, he was posted to Britain to serve as an exchange officer with the Royal Welch Fusiliers. During this tour, he completed the All-Arms Tactics Course and the Support Company Commander's Course at the School of Infantry in Warminster, England, and served in Britain, Germany and some operational theatres as deputy commander and, later, commander of a rifle company.

In August 1991, BGen Ménard was posted to National Defence Headquarters as a career manager. A few months later, he returned to a British working environment, serving in reconnaissance and staff appointments in Germany and Bosnia-Herzegovina under the command of North Army Group Headquarters. Returning to Canada in 1993, he was posted to Land Force Command Headquarters as Executive Assistant to the Army G3. He returned to regimental duty in 1995, commanding a rifle company of the 1st Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment, at home and in Haiti. During that regimental tour, he commanded the battalion's Administration Company in Valcartier and Montreal during Operation RECUPERATION, the Canadian Forces effort in response to the 1998 ice storm. In 1999, having graduated from the Command and Staff College in Toronto, he was posted to Land Force Quebec Area Headquarters as G5 Plans.

Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 2001, he served for one year as Chief of Joint Military Affairs at Multinational Division (South-West) Headquarters in Bosnia-Herzegovina. In 2002, he was posted to Valcartier as Deputy Commander of 5 Area Support Group. In August 2004, BGen Ménard assumed command of the 2nd Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment. Over the next two years, he took his unit through 18 months of intense high-readiness training followed by five months of designation as the Canadian Forces' high-readiness infantry battalion. In July 2006, he returned to the Land Staff as Army G3 Operations; becoming Army G3 in June 2007 on promotion to the rank of Colonel. On 2 September 2008, he became the 24th commander of 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group, based in Valcartier.

BGen Ménard holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in international management. He is also a graduate of the Land Force Command and Staff College at Fort Frontenac in Kingston, and the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College in Toronto.

In November 2009, BGen Menard deployed to Afghanistan as Commander of Joint Task Force Afghanistan."

Still listed as a commander here http://www.cmp-cpm.forces.gc.ca/dsa-dns/sa-ns/ab/cc/index-eng.asp?mLetter=M:

"BRIGADIER-GENERAL J.B.D., MENARD, CD
COMMANDER
JOINT TASK FORCE AFGHANISTAN INTERNATIONAL SECURITY AND ASSISTANCE FORCE HQ
PO BOX 5113 STN FORCES
BELLEVILLE ON K8N 5W6"

Oh, look, so is someone else:

"COLONEL D.R., WILLIAMS, CD
CHIEF OF THE AIR STAFF
101 COLONEL BY DR
OTTAWA ON K1A 0K2"

For the sake of comparison, here are two black and white composite sketches:

I have to say the artist for that one in The Star has amazing talent. If I didn't know better, I'd say that looks more like a police mugshot than anything else. Such detail, even in the T-shirt.

Not saying this teacher has anything to do with the woodland rapist, but his mugshot is interesting ,if you note the upper lip and especially the bulging undereyes.

I've always known that the FBI considers a serial "killer" to have killed 3 or more, so while RW would be considered a serial "offender" at this point, he is not a serial "killer". Here's an interesting comment by Jack Levin:

excerpt from: http://www.canada.com/news/Serial+k...s+away+with+murder+Experts/2542695/story.html

The FBI defines serial killings as three or more victims killed one at a time, over a period of months, years or even decades, says Levin, author of the book, Serial Killers and Sadistic Murderers: Up Close and Personal.

"But when you find two, you almost always find three."

I am waiting for an announcement of more charges. I feel the 82 additional charges, are the ones that LE was able to "quickly" confirm, thanks to the OCD-like journal entries that RW must have kept of his crimes.

Sorry if I'm repeating any info here, but the duck logo on the woodland rapist's shirt reminded me that RW was a birdwatcher. I'm not sure how far back his interest in birds goes.
