I don't know this case very well as I just started reading up on it yesterday. Can someone tell me where his wife is now? Does she stand by him? TIA!

Ever since RW was arrested, she has been out of the limelight. She is a VP for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The media has reported that she has been to see RW while he was incarcerated, though personally I think it was to transfer title, file for divorce, etc. though no one knows for sure. We do know that she has not attended any of these court proceedings. She has been named in a lawsuit (along with RW) from one of his sexual assault victims.

The opinion on this varies. We "know" the following things about Mary Elizabeth Harriman:

-She has reportedly made multiple visits to him in jail

-She is named in a lawsuit by Jane Doe, sexual assault victim 2, and she is accused of undertaking a fraudulant transfer of assets, just prior to Williams suicide attempt in the spring. Lots more on this in Thread 2.

-She has not been photographed by anyone, except when she was being escorted by LE out of her home in Ottawa, the day of the arrest.

-There are screenshots from the Fifth Estate documentary from yesterday that I posted of her

-She has not made a public statement.

-She reportedly hounded LE to compensate her for her hardwood floors that they scratched while conducting their search for evidence. She wouldn't accept that the refinish them, so they replaced them for $3,000. LE photographed the floors before and after, to ensure no damage was done etc.

I'm having a hard time catching up, so this might have been said already and if so, forgive me pls...

Wonder if LE would search his previous residences (ALL of them that he is known to have lived in since his teen years) what might they find in the ceilings and floorboards??

Has the military base where he worked been searched as yet??

The CBC reported that the Canadian Military is conducting their own investigation called Project Redwing, analyzing every place Williams ever was, and any crimes during that time.

Hi, MD! Good to see you here.

I don't recall any media reports stating anything about residences being searched besides the Ottawa residence and the Tweed cottage. If I were to take a guess, it would be that the military base home would have been searched. As for any previous homes, it might be difficult to obtain warrants, but it's possible that they did. In two words: don't know.

I doubt they searched any of his previous residences from when he was teen. He has never had a criminal record, which is why it is so odd to all the experts that he has done what he says he did. He seems to be one of a kind (or for our sakes, I sure hope he was one of a kind).

[2:50 PM]

Police found red stains at the home of Williams in Tweed. They also found the video tapes of the murder wrapped in black electrical tape. They also found a green duffle bag containing eight garbage bags of women’s lingerie and sex toys. They also found a guide to lock-picking, several external computer hard drives concealed in the basement ceiling. Police also found black multipurpose zipties. He kept the underwear from all four sex assault victims together in a printer box.

CBC:
Amber Hildebrant reports: "One floor below the main courtroom, a small group of people wait to try to get into either the courtroom or the overflow room. The courtroom fits 116 people. Thirty five journalists have been allowed in. The overflow room below fits 61 people. Many of them are journalists, court officials say. Among those waiting to get in are a trio of young women. They are Loyalist College students and studying with their justice program. The three decided to come down to the courtroom to hear firsthand the Crown's case against Russell Williams. Another young woman in line is recognizable as the person who was protesting outside the courtroom earlier in the day."

3:33 smithjoanna: When Det-Sgt Smith asked RW if he would have continued if not caught: "he said, 'It was a difficult question to answer, but he hoped not'

http://www.thestar.com/news/article/877558

I don't believe his answer for one second...he would have continued until he was caught, unfortunately two women had to be murdered, and two women had to be sexually assaulted before that happened, not to mention all the break and enters he did.

3:34 smithjoanna: RW told police he acknowledged it was "odd" to begin a crime spree at his age, but insisted he had done nothing criminal before.

3:35 smithjoanna: RW said it began with interest in stealing underwear, an interest that may have gone back to his 20s but had not acted on. [via Twitter]

I do not believe he started in just the last few years.I also wonder if in his younger years he attacked preteen girls, since he did target young girls in his fetish.I would bet he was a peeping tom for years.Just because he did not document it ,does not mean he did not do any crimes.Maybe as he was getting away with his crimes for years, he got braver and figured he was smarter then the police and started keeping track.JMO

CBC:
Amber Hildebrandt reports: "Police asked Williams if would've continued to commit crimes if he was not caught. Williams said that was a difficult question.
He claims his intention to plead guilty was to minimize the impact on his wife and not amass large legal bills. Officers also noted it was strange to suddenly start these offences at the age of 44. Williams agreed it was odd but insisted it was a recent development. Williams said he felt a compulsion to steal underwear in 20s or 30s but did not act on it."
