While the story seems a bit much, we shall see if Corrections Canada clarifies their position on this story.

I wonder if a conjugal visit application is accessible by the public? Is this reporter saying this tongue-in-cheek or what??? I don't usually read The Sun, is anyone familiar with this journalists work?

So what gives? I called and e-mailed Corrections Canada and no one got back to me. Maybe they were too busy helping their new superstar inmate pick out his new wardrobe?
My source says stay tuned for the conjugal visit application which should come around the same time as the taxpayers pay Williams’ too silent wife Mary-Elizabeth Harriman $3,000 for the OPP disturbing her home while they searched for vital murder investigation evidence.

One last thing that needs to be said — special thanks to Belleville Police Chief Cory McMullan and Insp. Mike Graham, the OPP, the Crown’s office and court staff at the Pinnacle St. court for running a tight and professional ship in what was a very difficult week for all.

I have covered a lot of big trials — John Gotti in New York — and these people set the standard of how it should be done.

Well, he does have nice things to say about Belleville LE, that's for sure.

I betting that RW will comply with all of the shrinks to find out why he acted upon his urges like he did at the age of 40 and beyond. Why did it progress to assaults, rapes and murders? What snapped in his brain?

I also believe that he is perfectly sane and also wonders why he did what he did. He has nothing to lose by assisting, and everything to gain.

There was just no way for DND to be able to predict that this man was capable of doing such heinous things - and there never will be. It makes me sad when I hear people try to pin the blame on not catching this earlier in the military.

I've been in the Air Force for almost 20 years, and for the first time, I'm ashamed to wear my uniform in public. I hate him. :(

I think it escalated because it took more to satisfy his urge - just stealing panties wasn't exciting enough anymore. I don't know if anything snapped or if it was just the natural progression. IMO something very traumatic happened to him as a kid that involved extreme abuse and it was never acknowledged. I also think there were probably other incidents that he was involved in as he got older (youth/teen) that were covered up by his family. JMO.

I hope that you will heal from this and be able to soon wear your uniform with pride. There is no reason for you to be ashamed. I think most Canadians are reasonable enough to understand that monsters come from all walks of life and that his actions could not have been foreseen.

I certainly don't blame the military and I want our armed forces to know that I support them now more than ever.

I just cringe at the thought of this. If she is interested in the conjugal visits I would think this would be a security nightmare for the staff. I'm not sure how it works at Kingston Pen but at other prisons these visits are held in trailers in the yard. How do they ensure her safety? He could be getting very desperate, he isn't healed just because he is inside.

BBM: I don't know if RW really wonders why he did what he did. I don't think he gives a rats azz about anything except the fact that he will no longer have access to his trophies to view and more victims.

A military man who was a friend of RW's for years was interviewed on The National, and he said his daughter told him he "looked just like RW in his uniform", and that upset him.

I am very sorry you feel that way about your uniform, and I don't blame you for hating him, I do too.

He's had several years to wonder why he has the compulsions that he has. If anything, he must be wondering now how he could have been so stupid as to make the mistakes that got him caught. Possibly he's wondering how and when he'll get the chance to kill himself. Actually, it's almost impossible to imagine the thought processes of someone this disturbed. Maybe he'll write an autobiography.

I have no hope that MEH will ever give an interview to the media. However, there's a slight chance that she will issue some statement in her own defence via her lawyer once she has recovered ... as much as it's possible for her to ever recover. I think everyone would be interested in what she would have to say.

I think I speak for alot of people....WE ALL HATE HIM!!!!!!!

I do not think negative thoughts towards you or anyone in a military uniform, I hope your "ashamed" feelings diminish soon. You should feel proud to suit up, if anyone feels negative towards it, they are shallow! RW was not the military, he was ONE twisted soul in a uniform. We have all seen police officers charged with major crimes, we do not put the blame on all officers. The same would go with anyone working at WalMart, if a Walmart employee committed a major crime, we would not blame WalMart. Anyone who is blaming the military needs to give their head a shake. I am proud of our Canadian Military!

I could write an article about gossip and rumours and quote it "by a source" just as this journalist has, any of us could. Would you believe me? If he cannot provide a name, I take it as rumour. JMO

I'm not, but my husband is. Unfortunately, I cannot use the word he did to describe him in this forum without getting censored. But see my previous post on tabloids and The Sun. Frankly, IMO, this article is the sleaziest bit of carp disguised as journalism I've ever seen.

Not sure if conjugal visit info is accessible to the public directly, but I'm pretty sure the media would be able to suss it out easily enough. Personally, I'm waiting for divorce news for this couple, which would make the whole subject moot.

ITA. Notice that JW doesn't even claim "the source" said anything definite. Even this mysterious source seems to have said:

"...stay tuned for the conjugal visit application which should come around the same time ..."

It's way too soon to even speculate about such a possibility and yet that's what JW is doing and putting it all out there for public consumption. Deplorable! If I were MEH, I'd ask for a retraction or sue.

There is a segment on W5 right now about RW

  • #112
I truly believe that RW's wife knew nothing. She may have known he had a fetish for lingerie and wanted her to wear it, but I doubt very much that she thought he WAS wearing it.

Don't forget - RW was here on IR (Imposed Restriction) which means you are posted somewhere without your family temporarily while on that assignment. His home was Ottawa. They probably saw each other only every other weekend (if that), she would have had no idea what was going on. Would she question why her husband wasn't home every night at 9:00 pm? Of course not! The Wing Comd's schedule isn't 9-5 Monday to Friday. He has to maintain his currency by flying, attending meetings, travelling, etc.

What REALLY, really has me ticked off, is the fact that Mary Elizabeth threatened to sue the OPP for scratching up her wood floors. How DARE she!!! The money that she (they) make and the circumstances and she's crying over $3,000 to fix her floors? The GALL of that woman!

Any sympathy I felt for her, is long gone. :furious:
They were married 19 years and had been living in Orleans, Ottawa since 1995 (?)

RW was the Wing Comdr. at Trenton ONLY since July 15th, 2009

lingerie thefts started in 2007

from reading the transcripts, IMO it becomes very clear that he has some kind of 'problem' IYKWIM. A wife of 19 years would surely have taken notice of that, unless of course, he blamed it on her.

He only took up duties in Trenton in July 2009 with his wife living in Ottawa but his crimes were taking place in Orlean's long before that when his wife did indeed live with him..
Thank you Macright. Exactly! I don't know why some people keep saying they were living apart. They were not living apart, they were both living in Orleans, Ottawa. Their neighbours there had made statements of watching them strolling in the evenings holding hands. We also know that from January to July 2009 he was learning French in Gatineau, Quebec, which is just across the river from Ottawa, just minutes drive from their home in Orleans, Ottawa.

I have thought about this everytime I opened a new thread on this case. Let's vote on it. If you want the title Col. removed - thank this post. If you think it is important that we remember even those we perceive to be 'above' suspicion can commit horrible crimes - don't thank the post.

Does that sound like a plan?

I'll count our steady posters to see how many thanks we have to get to change the title.

Salem

ETA: It looks like we have about 15 reg. posters on just this thread. If we get 8 thanks, I'll take Col out of the title.

I did clarify my post afterwards. I said he was on IR when he was HERE. Not when he was in Ottawa......no where did I say that.

I meant the sexual assaults/rapes/murders. Not the panty stealing.

I was on his Change of Command parade and remember thinking how daper I thought he looked in his full CF's. Little did I know he was probably sporting a pink bra with matching panties under it.

I would too if I were MEH.
However, with that said, I have to add that we ASSUME its MEH being referred to in the article. And while it likely IS, its purely speculative. Who is to say that RW didn't have a lady or several on the side that we've yet to hear about? Alternatively, its possible that random women across the nation are lining up to make requests for conjugal visits. We've all heard of the nutters who write to prisoners, fall in "love", visit, get married to prisoners and take on conjugal visits -- so why not with RW? Sure, any woman would be so lucky to have a chance with this guy (note my sarcasm!). Hey - I've heard Ms. Holmoka might be first in the sicko line.

(respectfully snipped by me)

OMG! Let's hope not. It would be awful if someone claims he fathered a child :( like in PB's case.

Speaking of MEH, found this pic of her; she'll be turning 53 next month (that would make her a Scorpio).

Mary Elizabeth Harriman was born on Nov. 15, 1957, the only daughter of Frederick and Irene Harriman. (The couple lost an infant son, Peter John.)

Her mother, Irene Lavigne, had been a stenographer at a mining company in Rouyn-Noranda, Que., when she met her future husband.

Mary Elizabeth grew up in Madsen, a rough mining town in northwestern Ontario, just south of Red Lake. Her father worked as chief geologist with a local mine.
