But so were the photos. And even if they had an idea that she had been headed somewhere else, they couldn't risk the off chance that she'd ran into foul play as she was leaving.

Sometimes officers cover their butts by getting warrants even when consent is given, and likewise, they may investigate something that counters their theories.
Their reaction was far more than 'covering their butts' - I have watched these investigations play out from the inside, since I was very young... The only time they justify the use of that amount of money and man-hours, is when they reasonably expect to find something. Another good indication is the media response. Had it been a routine follow-up to a lead, CPS would have quickly issued a statement like they did for the Garland acreage search.

When Nathan O'Brien and the Likness went missing and they released the photo of the green truck there was a green truck similar that had sat in my complex for a few days that I had never seen before. I called it in and they sent 1 officer. I expected to see more given the circumstances. They investigate every lead. But don't send an army for an unlikely lead.

Makes me wonder how closely the woman in the photos resembled Shannon...

At that point, they likely knew who the truck belonged to.

That's the thing... She didn't resemble anyone - her face was covered. The only link was hair colour.

How covered? Could you see part of her profile? Jawline? Ear? Could you see her body? Was she wearing something similar to an article of clothing Shannon owns? Earrings? Ring? It may have been more than just the hair.

According to 660News, the woman in the photos*appears to have red hair, similar to Burgess, but a spokesperson for Calgary police said the face is so obscured there's no way to tell who she is.

Wonder if the gal that was found in the freezer or her murderer is acquainted with JB in any way

If they could see a similar jawline, or she was wearing a ring similar to Shannon's, there would have been no way they could they confirm or deny that it was Shannon without seeing the face or ruling her out through other differences or more information. They don't mention any similarities other than the red hair, but exclusion of other similarities from the article does not rule them out as possibilities.

It was only confirmed not to be her when the photographer came forward.

IIRC, the Fish Creek photos had a girl wearing flowers in her hair and there's photos of SB out there where she has flowers in her hair (crown of flowers I think it was, which is quasi-trendy with the younger crowds these days).

I think the flowers, hair color and if SB was known to do photo shoots, it seemed like a good match maybe.

... but didn't someone say they were using their facial recognition software on the pictures... obscured enough but not enough?

So all of these posts you're seeing are posted to Sb's timeline by people who have their settings to be seen only by friends of friends?

And the family never responds to these posts?

Btw, I'm just wondering if when you asked about creating a FB page for 'Help Find SB', did you get the 'no' answer from one of SB's family members?

Oh that must be why I can see. There are tons from friends/acquaintances that say miss you, merry Christmas, I had a dream we found you, hope you come home. Etc. But not a word from family. Not even commenting on any of those posts. And no public posts from family or LE. But if LE is building another case it would be left as a missing person with no leads in the mean time.

Friends/acquaintances have been posting on SB's page as recent as April 9th. It's the family that's silent.

Ya I am friends with EM on FB and it's silent. The last activity regarding her missing was a friend wanted to put up missing posters at an event SB would have regularly attended. It's completely silent. Even if LE said to keep quiet or whatever how do you go through Christmas and everything saying nothing. Not even miss you or wish you were here. The only people who do comment on SB's FB page is the odd friend. It went silent very quickly after her disappearance. Even the press conference was odd. But so was the Likness one. Also the relationship between the husband and SB's family is really odd. Zero connection through FB with each other. There are too many odd factors around this case. I have never had a good feeling about it.

I remember we were chuckling about that at the time.

The Sister In-law, CB, seems to have an interest in other missing people... I see that she posts other MP since SB's disappearance.

Well... I can say with 100% certainty that she either left on her own, or fell victim to some sort of criminal element.
