I'm reading Sonia's thread (UnsolvedCanada)...they are also discussing about Camp Couchiching....

(maybe they are also reading here) ;)

Thanks Hazel, xoxo I wasn't sure and got confused because I asked if the man was running in the direction of Camp Couchiching and I was told it wasn't in the same direction.
Made this MAP for you Matou really quickly, so might not be perfect, but hope will help you a bit ... sorry if you guys have already done something similar ... no time to read here ... gotta go back to UnsolvedCanada.

A = Camp Couchiching headquarters
B = OPP Orillia Department (not the headquarters)
C = front of the Metro
D = from of the Motel

MAP : http://maps.google.ca/maps?saddr=66+PETER+ST+S,+Orillia,+Ontario&daddr=17+Colborne+St+E,+Orillia,+ON+L3V+1T4+(Camp+Couchiching)+to:68+Front+Street+North,+Orillia+to:107+Neywash+Street,+Orillia,&hl=en&sll=44.6101,-79.415595&sspn=0.006553,0.01929&geocode=FTenqAIdcjRE-ylLpHo-PKkqTTGHCBopGyLp4w%3BFcOoqAId6C9E-yETJ5fdvshTbylZRhYKPKkqTTGyYpNiVFciRA%3BFYm6qAId9DNE-ymbR6GgJKkqTTHmLYI6ppEl8A%3BFc28qAIdOjVE-ylBlzydJKkqTTECcxVb6nSV2w&vpsrc=0&mra=ls&z=16

 So - he could be a cop?!?!?

Whoever the perp is, SV must have trusted them enough to enter her home no matter what the time, as there was no forced entry.

I pray there is a break in the case -- it is haunting!!

I was reading over there and read a comment about seeing something shine in his hand(s) at one point, like maybe a cellphone. To me it looks like once he gets closer to that light, the light is reflecting off of whatever he may have in his hand, which makes me think he could have had a knife? Maybe that's the connection to Sonia. Her COD was never released, could she have been strangled as well as stabbed?

Sonia was also involved with CADS (Canadian Association for Disabled Skiing). Their head office is in Barrie, so a little over 20 miles to Orillia.

The top that guy is wearing looks so blousy or bulky that it strikes me more as a jacket than a shirt. JMO

On the question of dna results..
I dont think its possible to get dna results that quick to link them definitly.
Believe it 5-10days in the best case scenerio

I just watched the video and saw the still picture that was posted
In the still pic it looks like his socks are pulled over his pant leg bottoms..
Im wondering if this is why socks was mentioned.

  • #509
Was there lots of blood and he therefore didn't want to get his pant legs stained? So, he maybe pulled socks over his pant legs?:twocents:

I also think the clock is ticking on this guy and hopefully Sonia's killer.

Socks over pant legs more likely equals a bike rider (peddle bike)...
Keeps pants from going into the chain..

Doesnt sounds like it was a messy crime scene..
Being choked wouldnt leave any blood..

If it is the same guy, maybe he learned from the other scene to subdue and to try and knock out the victim.. Sounds like SV put up a fight.

Personally dont think it the same guy, Beleive there only linked by the dates and maybe aggression..

We'll see when the victim recoups and possible dna is tested

Yeah, there's a flash of something in his left hand. Maybe a trophy from the victim? I can't see him bothering with a cell phone during a brutal attack. Also, does this indicate he's left-handed?:twocents:
This is the frame when it is more visible (same as frame #5 in next post).
If it is a knife, he could have only used it to subdue her, not to hurt her, so not necessarily blood.

Sequence of frames. Shiny item can also be seen a bit afterwards, but doing frame-by-frame doesn't really show.

agree, and also at some point it looks to me that it could have a "hoodie" JMO.

Just noticed a made a mistake in my post # 467 regarding the shirt/jacket !!
That was the jacket description in Valierie's murder. Please accept my apologies if I had confused someone :blushing:
He also has “a summer tan, with a particular olive complexion.”
The man was wearing an open black jacket, made of “supple tissue, something like nylon,” said Lemay. Underneath he wore a black T-shirt, possibly emblazoned with a red and gold logo or design.

Could the shiny object be keys to a car?

Great job on those frames Hazel! I think I see a backpack in #5. I still can't make out the pants or socks though. He is doing something at the fence, slowing down, turning, I'm not exactly sure. That is the area at the end of the motel with cars parked there in Google streetview. I wonder if he did ride a bicycle, as was pointed out, if his socks were tucked into his pants.

  • Glad you mentioned that Matou, I too see something happening in the last two frames. Not too sure, but I believe that once he reaches that corner, he turns his body a bit facing the camera. I cannot see what he does then, but then all of a sudden there is "something" sticking up that was not there before. It appears to me that he throws that "something" on top of perhaps a garbage can? (I might do couple of screenshots later).
If he in fact discarded something there, I HOPE it was retrieved by LE. Would be beyond believe that the video was checked AFTER the 'item' was gone :(
  • Re the flashing object, IMO "it" is on his right hand.
  • I don't see a backpack, more like a 'hoodie' IMO.

Hazel says the shiny object is on his right hand. Could be a ring? OR - his watch if he's a leftie. (I'm a leftie and always wear my watch on my right wrist.)

QUESTION: Were police officers swabbed during that time of DNA testing? I'm wondering that because of the close proximity to the cop shops in Orillia. A cop could have stopped Sonia for something simple - a broken taillight, speeding, double parking, the reasons are endless for an innocent person to be stopped by police. Just thinking out loud.....

Thanks for all the great pics. Hazel, at first I thought it was something"shiny" in his hand- like a knife or keys- but now, with the blowup photos it looks like a white plastic shopping bag to me...oh my, new thought picturing most of my pockets with forgotten dog bags...
