CASCU Analysis of Crime

The hand weights. Yes, think of the dumbell shape- that would also have very possibly caused that level of fracture with skull displacement.

There's always a new twist, isn't there? So many pieces to fit in to this puzzle.

I am wondering now if ANYBODY has actually read ALL of the Ramsey's transcripts. I STILL haven't gotten to the end. When I finally finish...there is no telling what we might find. The transcripts are so long....that shoot...I wouldn't be surprised if there is a confession at the end, and nobody has read down that far. LOL

I know the Stanton testimony is questionable, but we are told Melody Stanton's husband reported hearing something that sounded like metal scraping against concrete.

Does anyone know if there was a manhole cover in the street? Were there run-off drains near the Ramsey home that weren't covered and if so, was the line checked? TIA

Remember when the neighbors reported seeing a light in the kitchen, described as someone walking around with a flashlight? Well, I believe that one of the Ramsey's did this....(using their OWN flashlight...I might add)....JUST IN CASE a neighbor were to happen to see. Because that goes along with their INTRUDER theory. Well, WHAT IF...JOHN went out and lifted and replaced the window grate....so that neighbors would hear it and report the fact...just as Melody Stanton's husband did?? No intruder is going to take the time to replace a grate...he is going to remove it, climb through the window to gain entry into the home...and then leave through the window....WITHOUT replacing the grate. I believe that the noise that her husband heard, may have been JOHN removing, and then replacing the grate....to fit with his intruder theory. He messed up though, by replacing it BACK...it should have just left it off.

there were some paint cans in the WC that some have speculated could have been moved out of the way to make room for JB's body.if they were pushed against the floor then it might have made a scraping sound.remember that pipe leading outside was near there.

I would agree with your theory about the flashlight! You may also be right about John possibly moving the window grate. I was thinking more along the lines of John going outside to toss evidence down a manhole or run-off drain, which is just my speculation.

I don't know,is there anything they would have needed to get and didn't want to turn the light on for? did the notepad and pen the RN was on come from the kitchen? b/c rem. they wanted the n-bors to think they were asleep all night, and lights that were usually on were off that night.

Yes, they both came from a small area just off the kitchen where the telephone was, a small built-in type desk area. The notepad, cup of pens/pencils (including the sharpie used for the RN) phone books, etc.

In addition to the paint cans in the wineceller that were probably moved across the concrete floor to make room for JBR's body, there was also a large piece of black sheet metal that had been on the floor in that room covering what was a floor safe. As far as I understand, that sheet metal had been moved and floor safe was exposed. Some have theorized that the floor safe was consided as a hiding place for the body. No intruder would have known it was there. The housekeeper found it one day and told PR about it.
No one moved that window grate. The spider webs were undisturbed. Spiders are dormant in the Colorado winter. No new web would have been spun. In the dark it would have been impossible to move the grate and replace it (if the "intruder" supposedly exited the same way) and not disturb the web.
The sound of metal scraping had to come from the paint cans or the sheet metal.
I wonder- in that lax investigation, with the spoon from the pineapple bowl STILL sitting untested in a Boulder police warehouse, would anyone have tested the the following for fingerprints/DNA: the paint cans, the sheet metal, the suitcase handle, the metal grate, the chair found blocking the train room with the broken window that the "intruder" supposedly pulled in after him (through a closed door), the Kleenex box (that PR said wasn't hers so the "intruder" must have brought it in).
I know they did test the expected things like doorknobs, the flashlight, pineapple bowl. But it's the unexpected things (NO one would have had time in those 6 hours from her death to PR's 911 call to wipe everything free of prints.) If latex gloves were used, traces of the coating on the gloves would be found. The unexpexcted things could gave held the answer to this awful crime. Gone- all of it.

Yes, I know that the Sharpie was found back in its holder with the other pens. The pad was kept near the spiral staircase on some sort of table. They would have needed the flashlight for those things, as well as the rope, tape...and for whomever went to fetch JB's size 12 bloomies.

I had forgotten about that spider web...and that is true...about them being dormant in the winter. We live in Montana...two states above CO. and they are dormant in the winter here too. I am sure that they go and hide somewhere, so they don't freeze their little spider butts off.

Gottcha. Good question!

Patsy said they kept lights on that ran along the wall at the spiral staircase as night lights. Maybe they gave off enough light to see well enough to write. I imagine there were several places within the home that could not be seen from a neighbor's window.

The lights that are usually on were not on the night of the murder. The outside lamp post...the lamp in the sunroom.

The flashlight played a big part in the murder. The murder weapon? It was used to write the ransom letter. The pen was in the telephone cubby and next to that the pad in the hallway. Makes sense that she grab the flashlight from the drawer of the wet bar that is in the hallway.

Were the lights turned off on the wall beside the spiral staircase? Patsy stated they were usually left on for use as a night light. I've not heard any mention of them except Patsy's statement.

OHHHHHH...so the lights that were usually left on...were not on that night. Gee..how "ironic".

In the movie PMPT,which Schiller said was recreated as closely as possible to the actual house,Christmas lights, the kind you put on a tree, were wrapped around the spiral staircase and were on when LE got there in the movie.
It's available at netflix if anyone hasn't seen it.I thought Patsy looked to nice, and JR too calm though.
It's interesting b/c little details, like the paint cans and the partly wrapped gifts, were shown in the WC,as was the bowl of pineapple in the kitchen.

There were also little touches to show "other possibilities". In the scene where LE interview Chris Wolfe's girlfriend (who had told the police she though he may have been the killer) they are talking to her outside what looks like either a house or trailer, and the camera pans to the side of the home to show BLACK DUCT TAPE around a piece of plastic. I don't know how many of you that have seen that movie PMPT noticed that, and it's inference that it could have been the souce of the black duct tape.
And I agree that PR seemed to nice and JR seemed too calm and nice.

no,I didn't notice that.I should rent it again sometime though...I've learned a lot since I came here,detail-wise.
One more thing if you get it on dvd...there are 2 ways to watch it..the movie itself,or the movie with Schiller narrating it,without the actors voices..I watched it both ways.It takes some time, but it's worth it.
