I just could not get over this LOOK that KC gave Baez in court the day the Judge said NO BOND.
What is this look??

now look at what you've done!

I agree a nurse is very good candidate for noting symptoms and actions of various disorders.

I sure wouldn't trust a nurse to tell me what my health problems may or may not be.

would she still recognize the issues when she seems to exhibit alot of the same traits herself ?

CA may be a BPD, but she isn't a sociopath. She can recognize issues. Or, she can't be a nurse.

Cindy is also his wife of over 25 years. I would think she'd be the best one to notice any type of behavior or feelings like that from George. If someone I lived with was acting/feeling suicidal, I am certain I'd notice something was wrong and take some action.

Well we think that, but it doesn't mean the defense won't try post partum as a last ditch effort, if they do indeed find the body.

Too easy to shoot down. Depressives don't have the energy or desire to party hearty.

Psychotics don't act anything like KC .

Well, the diagnosticians who have written or spoken about the case are all saying "sociopath."

Now, a nurse may not be legally empowered to diagnose. But, a nurse can sure as he77 spot something very wrong with a patient. S/He can pretty well nail down the symptoms in the report that s/he puts in the case, or the referral s/he makes. S/he would be very knowledgeable about the specific behaviors from treating, medicating, and observing for 8-12 hours per shift.

And, being KC's mother would make her DOUBLY effective one would think.

I didn't realize she had been written or spoken about by a diagnostician claiming her to be "sociopathic". I didn't realize any doctors had covered this.

Ah but bipolars do. Grandiosity is one of the symptoms.

That's really a shame. When you are in the hospital we are the ones who spend most of the time with you. We are usually the ones who notice if you take a turn for the worst, having an allergic reaction to a medication, if your BP is way off. Your doctor & your nurse are a team. Together we strive to give you the best care possible.

Could it be that if it isn't about Cindy - it isn't? That's my impression of her.

Correct. And her mother of all people should have known something was not right and gotten her help. By her not doing so, she is saying she did not feel KC had any mental issues. What will she say when hard pressed to answer this question on the stand?

Yes nurses do care for you while in the hospital and monitor your condition and vitals. I still wouldn't want one to attempt to diagnose any problem I might have. I would expect her/him to contact my physician.

I think Casey has all of the symptoms of Bipolar I. This could be her first bout and maybe she has only experienced the manic side thus far.

I believe her mother was attempting to get her help when all of this transpired. She was told to try the "tough love" approach. What will she say? Probably that she did the best she knew how to do.

When does a parent quit being held responsible for a child's behavior?
Casey is 22 years old, an adult and supposedly capable of being responsible for her own actions.

just curious, are you in the medical field?

I agree. Usually when someone is angry they squint their eyes. I see no signs of anger in her face, she looks to me like she's questioning Baez about something or listening intently to something he's saying.

I too agree that she looks scared. I don't see anger, I don't see "wtf". Fear. Fear. Fear.

I think the point is that nurses spend way more time with a patient than any doctor, so they see things that the doctors dont.
Doctors rely on the nurses observations, because they see the overall behaviour rather than just what is observed in a consultation.

..and if we weren't, they wouldn't employ us to DO that, right?:)

I woould trust a Nurse as long as she wasn't a CA. type. The Nurses I had last year were so good, explained all and kept me going when I almost died. They were so good I wrote to the hospital later and said I hoped they appreciate the fine people they have working in their hospital.CA strikes me as being a flibbertyjibbet!

Can felons be lawyers?

If she becomes a jailhouse lawyer, she could get all KINDS of popularity and favors.

I've heard the answer is "no."

But I'll bet some lawyers could be felons:crazy:
