Tony Padilla wouldn't know what LE was going to release today, imo. They aren't exactly sending emails back and forth to keep CampCasey informed as to their movements.

All the reporter said was releasing, he had some kinda document stating what will be released. I dont know if public will have access. Sounded like he would have access, but im not sure. Waiting till I hear more. Came home for lunch, might not go back..........

There is an response to discovery demand on the docket for Friday 8/22.
Was not there until this am, I checked.. Also a notice of prosecution for child abuse 8/22

This is a reasonable interpretation. Without knowing everything that Amy knows, it's hard to say for sure.

Thats what I think, too, but they would not release discovery unless the discovery is to be used at a trial, would they? I mean, I am no expert but they surely don't release stuff on people who are never charged, right? That would ruin someone's reputation in the community...(I am NOT speaking of Caseys reputation, I am just thinking generally....)

Please someone who is in the know, please help me with this one. They would not release 'discovery' if they were not going to charge. Is that right or wrong? Thanks, sleuthers!

The point is ADVERTISING. Why wouldn't you use a sturdy nondescript umbrella during a tropical storm with wind gusts when you essentially have to manhandle a client out into a throng of reporters? But no, we got to see the cheap LexisNexis umbrella with the logo aimed right at the camera. Maybe I'm cynical...

Well even Casey's own family fell for it. Casey tells one person one story, then another person a different story. Casey's family knew she was a liar and even went with that story. The difference here is the friends did not know Casey was a liar until after the fact. Which, IMO, lends to their credibility. They are more likely to be honest than anyone else in this case.

I'm not convinced Casey's own family fell for it....she wasn't telling them Caylee was with a babysitter etc, she just told them she was on a bonding holiday with Caylee (apparently). But, to Tony & Amy, she was saying nanny, beach, universal studios etc. Again, I ask, if you lived with someone who had a 2 year old child, and you hadn't seen that child for weeks, would you be accepting this "she's at the beach" excuse day after day without being suspicous??

I also can't see how they didn't know she was a liar til police told them....it seems to me Casey is a pathological liar...the pathological liars I have dealt with before, are usually pretty obvious and I doubt very much anyone could become good friends with them and their family (as Amy claims) without seeing some hint of this. Usually pathological liars are pretty obvious & blatant with their lies, and it's my understanding that many people/old friends have already come forward and said she had a history of lying.

So how does he explain her statements to LE about leaving Caylee with Zanny the Nanny at a vacant Sawgrass apt; her non job at Universal; Juliette Lewis; the "dead body" smell in the car.........

I'm guessing in Casey's mind, all of the above were lies previously put out there to protect her friends. Unreal! So, look what she put Zenaida through, and LE, and her family, all to protect her friends!!!!!!! Just another spin! :bang:

I would think it's close enough to when LE has to turn over discovery related to the current charges. The trial's about four months away -- at the latest, pending adjournments. The defense team needs the discovery with enough lead time to actually process the information. This of course, wouldn't include forensic evidence as there are no homicide charges pending. Yet.

When do you think it would be appropriate for LE to exchange this information?

Ah geeze, you are correct. I'm so focused on possible pending murder charges I forgot the child neglect charges. I need more coffee in my IV bag.

I'm not sure what the discovery process is during a grand jury phase. But this could be the reason. It's the only reason I can think of actually. It is puzzling.

There IS NONE, and the procedure is sealed. Note the request for discovery date, Baez is smart, files for discovery, gets his client sprung to try and force an arrest prior to the GJ so he will be entitled to discovery, giving kudos to OCSD on this, they did not bite.

ETA: He filed for discovery on the dog evidence, which technically is really why the bond was so high and it could encompass upgraded charges... I bet they "over give" info.. and it has not been requested on his part to be sealed, I think that will be a mistake for him and expect a gag order motion shortly.
