Hello WS
Casey stole one of her grandmother's checks so she could get stuff for Caylee's birthday party. Her grandmother found out, and that was Casey's explanation-that she needed stuff for Caylee's party. Shirley(Grandma)told Casey she could have just asked her for the money, she decided to let it go. Then Shirley found out Casey had stole more checks from her, IIRC from the account used to pay for her husband(Casey's Grandpa)to be in a nursing home.
IIRC, Shirley didn't want Casey getting away with it that time, I don't understand the time line for this, how long before Shirley knew Caylee was missing that she knew about the checks? But, here we have Casey stealing from her Grandparents for the second time. (Am I right, or making stuff up that SP turned Casey in for that one, she had called the bank, yes? TIA)
Even if Cindy did believe Casey had a job at Universal(or anywhere), believed that 'Zanny'/a nanny took care of Caylee-it had to be clear Casey was living beyond her means or stole and that she had a problem.
In the
July 3rd MySpace entry by Cindy she says:
First it seemed harmless, ah, love is blind. A mother will look for the good in her child and give them a chance to change.
This mother gave chance after chance for her daughter to change, but instead more lies more betrayal. What does the mother get for giving her daughter all of these chances? A broken heart.
The daughter who stole money, lots of money, leaves without warning and does not let her mother now speak to the baby that her mother raised, fed, clothed, sheltered, paid her medical bills, etc.

I don't see Cindy being in denial regarding Casey stealing money. Why, when the investigation began, -did she purposely keep or try to keep Casey's 'finances' from LE? I.E. not wanting to turn in all receipts to LE. And, when point blank asked questions about Casey's theft-Cindy has blatantly lied. George has been asked in several interviews about Casey stealing and he has denied that is true. Cindy isn't in denial about that it is just another part of Cindy never being able to tell the truth.
I have to think, at this point-this is what we are dealing with. If she did things to protect Casey, it would make a certain sense but she has done things that LE told her would hurt Casey. She continued to do things she was told would hurt Caylee, things that would hurt her: her very self-yet she continued to lie. It is a lying disease? Or a need to control things so badly that anything will be done or said to keep that (or the illusion)of control?
Cindy had already smelled "death" in the car: she and George had discussed the smell, she had gone back to work after smelling that smell. Whatever she thought that smell was she didn't call LE. When that smell became important was the moment she found out that Casey herself, had not seen Caylee for 31 days. Cindy had to have been believing Casey up until that exact moment. Cindy already thought/knew Casey was keeping Caylee from her. But, at that moment Cindy was worried enough for Caylee that she called 911 and told them two things: (1) she had found out hours and hours ago, that the car smelled like death and two: that her daughter
just told her she hasn't seen her daughter in 31 days.

Instead tells her friends that her mother is controlling her life and she needs her space.
Cindy even knew what Casey "tells her friends" about her "mother." Cindy knew on July 15th, that Casey had been keeping Caylee from her on purpose and to spite her/teach her a lesson. When Cindy got access to Amy's number and Amy was able to say she had seen Casey and knew right where Casey was: Cindy took her opportunity. IMO, here is where she most acts in Caylee's best interests, Cindy says she is being "selfish" in wanting to see Caylee, have Caylee home to sleep in "her own bed" but she says she doesn't care, she just wants to see Caylee. That is when Casey starts in with her "Caylee is probably asleep and we don't want to wake her..." song and dance and Cindy reiterates that she does not care, she is being selfish and she wants Caylee. That is the last time(and maybe the first), imo Cindy's words and actions are in the best interest of Caylee.
As soon as focus was off there being a Zanny, as soon as LE turned their attention to Casey: was imo when Cindy went into cover up mode. And for her to have actively covered the truth, she could not have been in denial. Someone in denial would not think they had to lie about anything, imo. And Cindy was clear enough about the options regarding what had happened to Caylee enough to hire and sent a P.I. to the woods to look for remains.
I think a person in denial would show that behavior in a consistent manner. We would have heard the cops found Cindy, driving to every address Casey had ever given her-knocking on doors looking for Zanny. For a while George and Cindy stated that,
they had the kidnappers under surveillance. I'm not an expert by any means but does being in clinical denial include delusions? And, a group delusion at that as they both claimed this to be true.
I thought maybe they wanted to give Casey more time, they figured the nanny story was a lie but that she wouldn't have done anything to Caylee. But, then I come back to the idea that the best and loving thing to do was for Caylee and for her the best thing would have been to co operate with LE. Denial or no denial, would anything cause you to not co operate with professionals who are wanting and who's job it is-to find your granddaughter?
Early on Richard Grund offers his help in finding Caylee. He calls George to make sure nothing he is wanting to do will harm Caylee. George is more than reluctant and when RG asks George why he's not willing to let Richard nor do anything himself to find Caylee...George responds because my wife does not want me to.
The list of people Cindy
did not want searching for Caylee: OCSO, FBI, Tim Miller, Richard Grund, George...
The list of people she
did want looking for Caylee: Dominic Casey.
Cindy wasn't okay with Casey stealing especially from her, and I agree(ETA: at times agree) with the theory that Cindy was threatening to take Caylee and kick Casey out-maybe Cindy said things she never said before that let Casey know she was serious this time. "Remember words spoken" was part of Casey's answer to Cindy's MySpace entry. But then it is funny that in the 911 call where they are in the car in front of the closed police station Cindy says,
"My next thing will be child's thing and we'll have a court order to get her if that's what you wanna play. We'll do it and you'll never...
And the original reason for Cindy's calls were about the stolen car and the stolen money. I think the fight/reason that made Casey "leave without warning" was about money and not(officially and out loud)about Caylee. It could seem that Cindy was threatening the "child's thing" and getting a "court order to get her" for the first time because she says to Casey, "My next thing will be. She is in the car with Casey finally turning her in for what she had threatened before, to make Casey face the consequences for her theft after giving her "chance after chance." And then she tells Casey what her
next move will be.
So, if Cindy and Casey had only fought about the money, not Cindy threatening custody-Cindy still knew as per the MySpace entry that Casey was purposely keeping Caylee from her. I suppose she knew by then because it was obvious that is what Casey was doing-and that's why by the time Cindy had her in the car, Cindy was ready to go ahead with the ultimate threat of custody battle. Turning your daughter in for car and money theft would be a first step to gaining custody.
All of this has led me to see that Cindy was worried about Casey being Caylee's mother and did not make her move fast enough. Cindy may have not thought Casey could physically harm Caylee but she thought Casey was capable of being/was an unfit mother.
I appreciate the sleuthing done on this thread regarding the actual finances, I would not be able to blabber my opinion further without taking advantage of the work done by others. Being able to understand the amount of theft by Casey has been enlightening to say the least. Sorry for the long post, after reading the last few pages I started having my own thoughts about Cindy's actions in light of her
maybe being in denial. I don't mean my post to be answering or arguing anything other than my own confused thoughts and ideas.
Thank you everyone. :blowkiss:
