CO - BARRY ARRESTED AGAIN - Suzanne Morphew, 49, Chaffee Co, 10 May 2020 *Case dismissed w/o prejudice* *found in 2023* #119

The doting husband who didn't even bother to care when or where Suzanne rode.

She wouldn't ask him to unmount her bike in order to ride it. TO ride it, she needed it mounted, in order to drive it to where she typically rode.

Bad husband, bad stager.

The male DNA on the bike could have come from the bike shop owner who had just worked on it, or anyone who might have handled it, which could have been someone putting it in her car (her daughter's bf at the time, male neighbor), or LE at the scene. What's more interesting to me is that BM's WASN'T on it and he supposedly put it in Suzanne's car for her many times.

The glovebox DNA turned out to be a big nuttinburger with extra peanut butter IMO. Her tires had recently been changed from winter ones, I'm sure that car was serviced with oil changes, brakes, or even repairs. I've had mechanics louch my glovebox many times, mostly looking for the owners manual LOL. The DNA with a partial match to some supposed SA person on the glovebox will have been run down and will be presented to show how a minute partial match doesn't mean 8 billion to one odds.

Bye Bye Barry!

Right Girl. Indeed the only reason anyone is talking about this is because of the member of law enforcement who gave such shambolic testimony at the prelim. At the trial, a DNA expert will testify. There isn't going to be any 'sex offender partial match' this time.

I am hopeful that the creator community will continue to overlook this trial which will hopefully spare us 90% of the conspiracies.

Of all the team Iris allegations, this is the only one that holds interest for me. There was X of Grusing on this topic. The X gave a glimpse of evidence we have never heard about (as we don't have the CAST report). For example, Barry's phone being apparently on a charger that evening. Keep in mind there has never been any court filing from Iris that I know of to substantiate this allegation.

7. His wife’s phone and computer exhibited activity into the evening of May 9, suggesting that she was alive past the time investigators theorized he had killed her. Id. at 53-63.

Either Barry himself was trying to use them or they were internal events that don't require human input. On chargers, devices will install updates unprompted.

Timing will be telling. Presumably Barry was home.... keeping the home fires burning... Suzanne's journals.... he was probably desperate to access her devices and delete stuff.

Yes - one can only speculate at this stage.

What we do know from the prelim is SMs phone showed as being at home all day and saturday evening. Then suddenly the network located it many miles away from the home in the early hours of Sunday morning, before it disappeared off the network forever. This is at a time Barry was active.

Critically, SMs phone never reappears at home on Sunday morning before the supposed bike ride.

IMO this is why the ability to disable the telematics is so critical - we know BMs phone was also located in a similar direction around that time.

I do think we'll get some insight into the cell phone data. It's something that I don't always comprehend other than knowing that our cell phones sometimes ping as showing in the next state over....all depends on the weather conditions what tower so occasionally it picks up the tower over 90 miles away instead of one closer which is funny sometimes because it is in another time zone and our phones change time also when it connects to that tower so many miles away as the crow files. But I have zero idea what the actual data that can be gotten from the carrier would look like. This is when I wish we could actually hear the entire testimony as I've always been interested in this aspect being familiar in my past years with the Denver/Salida-BeunaVista/Monarch Mountain corridor.

IMO the Timing Advance Records will show that the victims phone was a different distance from the tower and on a different azimuth.

That isn't possible if the phone was still at the house.

IMO, based on my recollection of the testimony at the prelim.

You all probably already know this, but I just saw a Court TV commercial for the upcoming trial for Barry! I have been wondering if they’d carry it. So glad they are and will be turned in to watch him and his smile fade away.

I think Court TV's advert may have been misleading. Specific to the Morphew trial, I believe they can only broadcast the opening/closing statements, reading of the verdict, and the sentencing.

Pursuant to the Amended Order for Expanded Media Coverage of 10/28/25, the Court is limiting video & audio coverage to the following:

11. The only portions of the proceedings that may be audio/video recorded are: bond hearings, preliminary hearing, arraignment, pre-trial conferences, motions hearings, opening statements, closing statements, reading of the verdict, sentencing (except for any victim impact statements), or post-conviction hearings. There shall be no recordings of any bench conferences, in camera proceedings, communications between the defendant and counsel, or communications between co-counsel for any party.

Reposting this as I think it will be critical at trial

These are my personal notes of Grusing's testimony at the prelim (where he parrots in CAST)

1. Telematics of truck in driveway 3.25am-3.52am. Both phones at home. Source: triple corroboration from 3 different forensic datasets.

2. 3.58-4.07 Grusing plots BMs phone away from home. It moves straight to the intersection of 225/50 near where bike is found. Source: Barry's iPhone GPS

3. SMs phone last registers signals quite a way from the home in an arc as if it was struggling to get a good connection. This is around 4.10. Last one around 4.22. Source: Celltower Timing Advance records.

4. 4.31am - BM's phone is back home, in airplane mode. Source: Barry's iPhone GPS & Logs

tldr; both phones appear to be away from home, but the truck is (apparently) in the driveway. SMs phone never reappears at home - even though the network positioned it there all day

Above is my opinion only.

Based on the prelim, I think a key battle will be 'where was Barry's truck in the 4am hour?"

We know Barry has a lot of truck activity until 3.49 (driveway). Then it doesn't show up again until 8.10 am at the RTD bus stop. In X of Grusing, Nielson tried to suggest this is consistent with Barry setting his alarm for 4.30am and a 5am departure. A log Nielson relied on, was Barry's phone being 'on charger' state

Q: We know from data captured by Barry's phone that his phone was plugged in at the residence from 10:18 May 9th to 4.23 am May 10th

A: yes

Q: and from approximately 7pm through 3am Barry and Suzannes RTT events are consistent with their phones being at or near the residence

A: that's correct

Q; Barry told law enforcement he set his alarm for 4.30am

[Nielsen then goes on to imply he must have left around 5 based on the later progress]

What I now wonder, based on the indictment, is whether the truck left PP sometime in the 4am hour, and went first to where SM's helmet was found, and then towards Monarch. Then for some reason Barry drove back to PP, before finally departing for Broomfield. But we can't see anything from 3.49-8.10 am because he killed the telematics.

Was BMs phone on the charger in the truck?

My own notes:

4. SMs phone last registers signals quite a way from the home in an arc as if it was struggling to get a good connection. This is around 4.10. Last one around 4.22. See also the AA. Phone 11.5m west of Poncha. To my rough plot, this suggests it was at/near Monarch, assuming it did not go miles off road. Important point is that both phones decide to leave home during this critical 30 mins, but this is via different positioning data. SM's is being positioned via cellular. BMs they had the phone so they have his location data. Big coincidence.

5. 4.31am - BM's phone is back home, in airplane mode. IMO the important point here is that even if Barry's phone was "strafing", SMs phone never comes home. Coincidence?

6. 5.37 am BM's phone comes out of airplane mode turning in Buena Vista towards Broomfield. Tracks intermittently on the route towards Broomfield. No telematics for any of this. Unclear why.

So basically Grusing's belief is he left home between 3.58 and 4.31 with SMs phone and came back without it.

Why does any of this matter?

1. Barry's phone location data near the bike is low confidence. But it's corroborated by SM's phone positioning during the same 10 mins. It's a hell of a coincidence that both phones appear to be at home for 12 hours, then suddenly leave home together after 4am according to two different positioning systems

2. The Truck disappears during the crucial hour after 3.49. Right before the phones leave. If it was just sitting in the driveway waiting to go to Broomfield, we should have seen door open logs etc around 5am when it was time to go. Instead it is dark until 8.10am. This suggests telematics were killed at 3.49am

3. The combo of missing 14km and location data helped Grusing to get Barry to admit he turned left. This admission is highly incriminating. If he didn't head west why would he have admitted it?

4. Nielson claimed the missing 14 km was a trip to the Spa shop in the afternoon. But there is no phone location data or telematics for this AND the bobcat was still loaded.

Being able to disable the telematics clears up the last evidential problems in the case IMO.

All based on my own notes.
