Well they said it was a combination of factors - time elapsed, no contact w/family or friends and no social media activity but I thought that sounded weak from the moment it was reported. I don't think we will hear a better explanation until an arrest is made though.

Well, I haven't discounted that he might really have run away, and THEN came to harm. I just think the odds of who, in that remote area, would have a vested interest in his 'harm' is not looking good. Not good.

But still holding vigil for Dylan. Come home, sweet boy, you have a whole life ahead of you. <3

  • #262
Yes, how DO they know that he did not run away? I can't sort that out really.

I think LE has their own theory now on what's happened. And after they ask for video of the road from sun at 6pm to mon at 12 (I think.) I knew what there theory was.

I'll bite. Have you read any of my prior posts? I bet a good number of posters have me on ignore because I have been vehement in my defense of MR. ER's statements about him horrified me and I was far from silent in my displeasure with her. I'm not casting stones at MR because of what ER said - he alone convinced me that I was a fool.

I read every single one of your great posts. I try to keep an open mind and love that we can agree to disagree here :seeya: I look for anything to give me a glimmer of hope. Many posters did. Sadly i just dont see a good outcome. I am still praying for one tho.

Okay, let's digest this:

Interesting tidbits in the timeline.

The sightings of Dylan have NOT been substantiated.

It was not until 4:15 that Dad went to the friends to check on if Dylan was there.

Dylans cell has been TURNED OFF since Sunday night.

Why did it take dad until after 4 to go to the friends to check on him? Wouldn't he do that almost first thing? What was he doing from 11:30 until 4:15 to find Dylan?

WHY was Dylans phone still turned off on Monday morning? Wouldnt he turn it on to see if he could get service at least?

And sadly, those sightings were not valid.

Now I understand why those two vehicles were towed to the forensics lab today.

B]Why did it take dad until after 4 to go to the friends to check on him?

Very early on, I seem to remember reading something regarding Dylans dad asking Dylans friends about Dylan's whereabouts *later in the afternoon (such as around 4:15) and then when he discovered Dylan was not with them, reporting him missing at that time - and I do remember reading that brought up a {huge mess} of unanswered questions in my mind, some of which are the very same ones you are asking!

Then 2 other versions surfaced - one, that his father checked with the friends soon after 11:30, looked during the afternoon by himself and then reported Dylan missing later that afternoon - and a third (but I think it was a misprint or a non-verified news story) which stated which Mark reported Dylan missing in early afternoon, which we know not to be true.....

I sure wish we knew what was true and what wasn't! I feel like we're sitting amidst a pile of puzzle pieces, able to hold up very few pieces that we know as "fact", the rest jumbled all around us, and with Dylan hidden somewhere within them!

Was so hoping for good news when I signed on this morning! Praying today is the day we find Dylan!

that is another thing I do not get. Where are they going to get a video of a remote road, or was this particular road not remote?

Yes wifi and chocolate. Yes bring the crow recipe. Nothing would make my Holidays better than Dylan found alive and having to choke down crow.

ETA-full bar no matter your pleasure

I'm not sure if crow should be paired with a red or a white so I won't take any chances

imo, it would not shine in his favor. MR tells LE he took away Dylan's phone (reasons why may or may not be discussed)
LE would ask where the phone was now. If MR said he did not know, it would also not look good.
If LE asked where it was, and there was something incriminating on it, he would not be so stupid as to hand it over to LE.
If he did have the phone at some point or still does, I think whatever is found on it would hurt him, thus he'd never admit to having it. jmo

Speaking of phones and coverage, has anyone seen reports where Dylan's mom mentioned cell coverage being spotty when he visited dad in September? Am thinking if it was an issue in the past (cell issues while living there and after the move) that she may have made a point of mentioning it. I say this in that she never mentioned Dylan not texting her in past visits to verify he's okay and so on. jmo

WOW,, this thought has never crossed my mind. ""If LE asked where it was, and there was something incriminating on it, he would not be so stupid as to hand it over to LE. ''''

Interesting to ponder indeed. thank you

My understanding is that it is a fairly heavily traveled road. Somebody did a google street view walk and made note of businesses MR would have drove past on his way home that could possibly have cams. I will bump the post if I can find it again.

Okay I think I nodded off during the first half of my virtual trip from Durango airport to Bayfield.... grassy, open fields, green, tree lined, wooded, nothingness.... Lots of side CR's to pull off and go down but I didn't explore down those roads. Someone could probably pull off to the side if they wanted to.
Now I'm on 160(rt?) which is about 35 miles from dad's house and there are a number of businesses right along the road... Just throwing them out there with the possibility they may have cameras or may have employees who would've seen something. Also it looks like a very blue collar industrial stretch of area. Learning today that dad had 2 pickup trucks and possibly a trailer as well maybe he has friends/associates in these shops or industries.

-landscaping&supply
-neighborhood roadhouse
-boat sale and service marine shop
- performance repair shop
- Trailer LLC

Bumping for those that decided sleep was a cool idea and went to bed last night.

Slackers!

http://www.kob.com/article/stories/s2842579.shtml
La Plata County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to search for a 13-year-old Four Corners boy missing since Monday.

Dylan Redwine was reported missing Monday afternoon by his father, Mark Redwine, who lives in Vallecito, about 22 miles northeast of Durango.
Dylan is described as 13 years old, standing 5 feet tall and weighing 105 pounds. He has blond hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing a black Nike shirt, black basketball nylon shorts, black Jordan tennis shoes and a two tone blue and white Duke Blue Devils baseball hat.

Anyone who may have information on Dylan’s whereabouts are asked to contact La Plata County Sheriff’s Office Investigators Dan Patterson (970-382-7015) or Tom Cowing (970-382-7045). People can also call the hotline for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-THE LOST (1-800-843-5678).

Missing Persons Information & Support

We are a victim friendly site, their are no suspects or persons of interest at this point. We understand that sometimes it is frustrating not to be able to sleuth or speculate about a certain person (generally a family member) but in many, many cases, it has turned out that the certain person was not involved in any foul play. So until LE gives us an indication as to what they are thinking, pursuing, Dad is off limits here.

Thanks so much for understanding and please let me or any of the mods know if you have questions.
bumping up the opening post again so those of you who have not read the part in blue can read the rules about speculation about family members.

It is fine to discuss what is in the media. It is not fine to go beyond that at this point in time.

All this discussion of tunnels is not discussion of the case but rather falls under what is in blue in the opening post. Hopefully soon we will either be able to all be down in this tunnel or we can fill it in. Either way, please post responsibly.

Thanks so much everyone.

Also, lack of pleas for his safe return. Since abduction was not ruled out, why not plea to his abductor(s) to let him go? Why not let Dylan know you're not giving up to find him so the family can be together again and so on?

Where was it that he said something along the lines of (referring to him and ER) that 'that we should be together' or something like that? That was also an odd comment that stuck out like a sore thumb, considering the situation.

Am going to guess she filed, he didn't want the divorce. He may have even gone so far as to think that shared custody might lead to a reuniting of him and ER down the road?

Oh man, good catch.
''Also, lack of pleas for his safe return. Since abduction was not ruled out, why not plea to his abductor(s) to let him go? Why not let Dylan know you're not giving up to find him so the family can be together again and so on?'''

You're absolutely right. Every parent pleas for their child's safe return. ' if you're upset come home , we can talk about it ' or ' if someone has my son, please give him back, we need him ' etc etc.

Very interesting. In fact, has either parent used any kind of language like that ?

It is way too long for him to be hiding out with a friend, not to mention that no one else is missing. No family is going to take in a kid and then sit back and do nothing while LE does all of this major searching.

He was either abducted via accepting the wrong ride, never made it to the house on Sunday night, or something happened there between Sun. night-Monday morning. JMO

Just jumping off your post...

If dad had nothing to do with Dylan's disappearance.... And running away isn't an option, per police...

then abduction would be a viable option...

but if LE were looking in the direction of an abduction... Then wouldn't there be a whole other approach to finding him?

such as a bolo... Amber Alert... Major MSM/media alerts for abducted person in neighboring states/off suspected highways, etc?

obviously I do not know the technical process LE goes through for finding abducted persons...

But... In other words... Wouldn't there be a more far reaching.. And urgent..Alert for Dylan?

JMO
