That's the problem with a small LE agencies in remote areas. They are not used to investigating big crimes.
They also apparently believed it was plausible he run away in the beginning.

I dont dismiss anything that people are capable of doing nowadays.

Pedos have been known to stalk their victim beforehand. They have been known to case out the place too.....the habits...of the people inside of the home.

But I think it is just as highly likely that they may have a closet pedo living in the community and saw MR leaving. He may have even known beforehand that Mark was to have Dylan over the holidays.

He could have been someone Dylan even knew and trusted. Westerfield the kidnapper/rapist/murderer had lived in the community for many years yet no one knew he was a closet pedo and had abused family members until he set his sight on Danielle Van Dam and ventured out of his comfort zone.

Just a thought here-
LE said that some of the task force members were looking at known RSOs. What if Walmart surveillance showed an RSO passing Dylan and doing a double-take, or following behind him? Maybe they are trying to determine if that RSO followed them home to see where Dylan lived.

It means they are either very secretive/protective of what info they have, which is good OR they are totally inept, which is bad !

IMO Dylan"s friends may very well be the ones to look a little harder at..Dylan was unhappy about going to Dad"s, was that just because of Dad or did something happen between him and one of his friends? maybe just someone there that he felt uncomfortable around..The older brother made a statement that Dylan knew if he had a problem while he was at Dad"s all he had to do was call, and just like before, he, his mom or step-dad would come.this statement in itself leads me to think there was some sort of problem before, wish I knew who with, as it might answer alot of questions.. JMO

I agree with you so jumping off your post … I have wondered about bullying as Dylan seems a bit small for his age … was he a victim of bullying? His friends would be able to answer this.

What about someone that MR knew that held a grudge against MR or someone maybe he had a disagreement with in the past?

His mother says he was looking forward to spending time with his friends. Nothing about bullying.
If he didn't want to spend time with friends, he wouldn't be trying to go visit them as soon as he arrived on Sunday.

They wont tell ppl what he was driving they want eyewitness accounts this way they wont get a version someone read in the news.

I think they would. They know they are going to get tips from some loo loos anyway just wanting to have something to say but they still would want all sighting tips called in. They are aware that usually the tips called in only 10% of them or less turnout to produce credible tips anyway. They would have much more attention if they were specific on which vehicle they are looking for.

The way it is now no one even knows what vehicle they are supposed to have seen or videoed. Its so generalized and I think that is exactly how they are looking at this investigation. They want to see who ALL was in these areas during those periods.......not just MR....everyone who may have been there in those areas at that time. We are almost 2 and a half weeks out now and we still dont even know what kind of vehicle MR drives.

this is a thought that I had too. and I think it is very bothersome. I would expect to hear something or see a change in procedures from the FBI. I think the delays could be because they have no resources nearby. Labs, forensic places, etc. jmo

You misunderstood my point. I do not mean his friends bullying him, friends do not bully. I mean another boy, a non friend.

That's exactly why I said it was "typical" in most cases, but this one wasn't perceived immediately as an abduction, but only abduction as a "possibility", along with running away, drowning, etc. so not enough to cause a press release and draw attention like most of these cases do on day one. It might just be my perception of the case, but I think this actually lost the investigation a week's time....which also accounts for no press conf/release from LE in the beginning...they still weren't exactly sure what they had :banghead:
JMO and speculations about the strange LE response in this case.

thought.
Now days and days later , they are rethinking those initial thoughts and lets' face it , EITHER trail is cold by now.
Ugh, I sure hope this is not a case of missed opportunities by LE .

I'm pretty sure they meant to say, "In a written statement, Bender alluded to photos and videos..." In other words, he sent them a written statement, which they then quote below.

At least, that's how I interpret it.

I live in the country, and deer rub their antlers on trees and ruins the bark. I would imagine they (or some other wildlife) do the same there since the mailbox post is made of wood. The bucket is just a generic way of protecting the wood.
