If Dylan never made it to the house along with the phone & his backback, yet his ipod did?

Why didn't Dylan take it with him? Maybe he didn't plan to use it with his friends?

Wonder if it is MR's?

If where Dylan slept was a couch/hide-a-bed, which I have thought it was for some time, it is very possible that MR and LE initially thought he had everything with him.

If Dylan had pushed the hide-a-bed back in, maybe LE subsequently did a more thorough search of the home and found the items from when the bed had been put back into place thus the items "behind the couch" thus the "scent" items.

I swear at times I am having more blonde moments.

Maybe he was looking for his ipod?
Or, he removed them from his backpack to lighten his load IF he were setting out on his own.

Or, if someone came by and abducted him after he'd gotten them out to wear and before he had a chance to change into them.

Or, someone else could have taken them out of his backpack (or they were already there from Dylan's last visit) and they were set out for display.

Can ER confirm what clothes Dylan packed for the trip, I wonder?

The fact that LE concentrated so much search time and energy on the route MR would have driven Monday night makes me think they aren't sure Dylan made it Vallecito. I brought it up before, but it sounded to me (from what I heard on the scanner Saturday) that the searchers were looking for McDonald's items. Why, I'm not sure, but my hunch is that it probably fits into this question somehow. Anyway, I'm not saying one way or another whether Dylan made it to Mark's Sunday night, I don't really have a feeling one way or the other, and it seems to me to be something that's very up in the air for law enforcement as well.

We were not told to look for anything specific ... like McDonald's items. We were told to look for anything that was not supposed to be there.
example: clothes ... not supposed to be there, paper ... not supposed to be there, cans/bottles ... not supposed to be there, etc. HTH.

The search was not as limited as you state.

Man I truly dislike busy days where I have to keep popping in.

Truly interferes with my sleuthing time.

Sigh.

I'm beginning to think that LE initially suspected that Dylan had run away and would eventually surface. Given his age and the family dynamics, that would be a fairly common assumption to make. It seems that they waited to rule out this possibility before getting the search warrant and looking for forensic evidence. I wonder if we'll ever hear the forensics results.
moo

I think we have already heard about the SW. LE said they found nothing that would help them. Being that is case that is about all they will say since nothing of a evidence value was found there, imo.

In fact its unusal imo for any LE agency to tell the media about a SW results. Usually even if nothing is found they still dont comment on it.

I just get the feeling they want to make it very clear that the SW showed nothing and that MR is still fully cooperating.

To highlight either poor reporting and/or inconsistent statements by LE or something else I'm missing:

Saturday 12/8, "The thought of abduction was completely unexpected, yet investigators told Action 7 news that's exactly what they think happened."

Monday 12/10, "11 News asked investigators if they think the boy was abducted; they say at this point they’re not sure, but are investigating every possibility. "

Anyone care to weigh in?

*eta: There's always new or changing information, but..... I'm not sure what to think at this point

I would say poor reporting. We get that a lot on these cases, it seems.

Plus LE said this is the common route taken for many.

Injured my back a few days ago and can't get up very well, checking in to see if anything has developed since my last check. Can't stay up very long and its about time the pain meds kicked in but would like to know if the clothes he was wearing on the plane trip and at Walmart have been found as well as his shoes and anything else he was wearing. Wish the hell I had a lap top instead of this desktop. Any updates would be very appreciated.

Meet Yogi (this was in the 90's)

Don't underestimate these dogs.

"On May 18, 1993, Alie Berrelez was kidnapped from the courtyard of the apartment complex where she lived in Englewood, Colorado.

Three days into the search, K-9 Yogi and his handler, K-9 Officer Jerry Nichols, were called to join the search for Alie. Rain had fallen and hundreds of volunteers had walked through the neighborhood searching for the little girl.

Yogi took the scent from clothing Alie had recently worn and began tracking. Relentlessly, Yogi tracked for several miles and at the entrance to the Interstate, Yogi headed up the ramp and began tracking down the expressway."

http://www.leba98.com/yogi.html

Sorry, but what does this have to do with what I posted? We don't know if there were clothes there that Dylan had worn recently. The discussion was about scent articles that had only Dylan's scent, and not from pillows, blankets or a couch that other people may have left their scent on.

I would say poor reporting. We get that a lot on these cases, it seems.

I think their main theory is still an abduction and that one is number one on the list. They really put that possibility out very early. But of course they dont know for certain and wont know until they can find out what happened to Dylan and where he is. So they are just keeping all possibilites open except runaway.

Also it can be who they spoke with on the two different occasions. I didnt read the articles again to know if they are the same person saying this. But one will be more direct in the info given to the media and another officer can say it but make it more in a generalized way, imo.

I think if Mom had suspicions or indications that Dylan had never slept at Dad's on Sunday night, she would have said so, even if she just let it "slip" out by "accident".

I have to agree with you especially since she was so verbal the first week after Dylan went missing. I'm sure NG would have spoken about it if Mom had said anything to anybody about Dylan not being at Mark's house. So were does that leave the search for Dylan?

Let's say he did make it to Dad's house...where is he then...what happened?

-Dylan and dad argued and an accident happened;
-Dylan and dad argued and dad did something to him in a fit of anger;
-Dad has Dylan in hiding
-Dylan left on his own and was abducted;
-Someone came to the house and abducted him;
-Someone came and got him and has him in hiding;

If so, back at square one...darn it

LE doesn't seem like they are treating this as an abduction by someone that may have harmed Dylan....I think LE is acting strange; hopefully they have a lot more puzzle pieces than we do!

Hmmm. I'll take that into consideration. Never thought about it like that!
That's why we sleuth, right?

Because to do so might put the focus somewhere else that they don't want to be known yet...LE is not going to give anything away.

oh well....

I have my suspicions and feelings and certainly respect everyone elses.

As I said before I learned a BIG lesson with the things I said and thought about Clint Heichel (Whitney's husband) as did a lot of body language analysis experts and we were so wrong.

With no new news I'll just pop back in later...see you then

Confusion have you been to bed yet????

I'm right there with you. I learned a big lesson too. And I agree with the Pay as you go phone. I've been thinking that for 3 weeks now.

Maybe they figured it was a cheap way to clean up the area while you were looking for Dylan ;)

Questions of Importance regarding those last hours leading up to Dylan's disappearance

1) Did Dylan in fact make it to his father's home Sunday night, November 18?
(How was this verified?..pings, neighbor, or other witness, etc)
- if in fact made it to the home what time did they arrive home?

2) Were any calls made from the landline throughout the morning hours of Monday, November 19?
(If so to whom were the calls made)

3) What was the exact time that Dylan's cell phone was last detected?
(ie. text msg sent/received, phonecall incoming/outgoing, pinging a local cell tower)

4) If different from time of last detection, what time was the actual last communication from Dyalns cell phone?
(Phone call or text)

5) At what time did Dylan and friends(and with what specific friend did he speak/text to make these changes) make changes to their getting together from Sunday night moved to Monday morning?
- was it via text or call
- was it just one call/text or were there multiple calls/text back and forth making these changes

6) Was the change of plans the last conversation btwn Dylan and friend(s)?
-If not what was their last communication about?
- what time did that communication happen, if different from the communication regarding the change of plans?

7) The friend(s) with whom Dylan spoke/text about the change of plans, what was their opinion of Dylan's mood about the plans being changed?
(Mad, sad, furious, indifferent, cool with it, etc)

8) With whom was Dylan's last contact with other than dad?
- call or text?

9) What is the last identified cell phone tower that was pinged by Dylan's cell phone?

10) Where does dad's cell phone records pick up at from the moment when Dylan's phone is last detected?
- Does Dylan's last cell phone ping coincide with his dad's cell phone pings during that same time of night on Monday, November 18?
- From the time that Dylan's cell is last detected as being operable(text, call, ping) from that time forward throughout the night what is the track of dad's cell phone(ie. What, if any cell phone towers did dad's cell phone continue to ping after Dylan's was no longer operable)

11) Does dad's cell phone records, namely the pings, coincide with his returning home after Walmart/McDonalds?
(As in from the pings is it discernable that immediately after those last two stops in Durango that his phone tracks him going directly to his home or are there variances that could show that -
a) it took a much longer amount of time to get from Durango to the cell phone tower nearest his home(which is most likely to indicate that he was at or immediately near his home)
b) the pings show an altogether different route, other than home, immediately after the two last stops in Durango)

12) What, if any, internet usage was used from Sunday evening through Monday afternoon/evening?
(Anything unusual or out of the ordinary found)

13) LE has stated that they can confirm that Mark's movements between 7:30am-11:30am on Monday, November 19 check out with what Mark has stated that he was.(appt with Atty in Durango and other morning errands)
a) what was the nature of the appt with the divorce Atty and was it a scheduled appt? If so, how far in advance was is scheduled?
b) what were the other errands Mark went on for the remainder of those hours that have been confirmed?

14) What were Mark's movements from 11:30am- approx 4:30pm when he headed to Dylan's friends in Bayfield to pick up Dylan?
(Is LE able to verify/confirm those movements during that 5 hour time frame)

15) During those 5 hours what does his cell records show as far as his attempting contact with his son?
- how many text? How many calls?
- what cell phone towers were pinged when those various calls/text were made to Dylan's phone? Was it the tower that is pinged when at the Redwine home or another or other towers?
- what does the track of pings from Mark's cell phone show during this 5 hour window of time? Movement, if so where? Or does it continue to ping from the cell tower nearest his home?

16) What, if any, calls were incoming/outgoing from the landline during this 5 hour time frame?

17) What, if any besides to Dylan's cell phone, calls incoming/outgoing from Marks cell, text sent/received, internet usage from his cell during this 5 hour time frame?
-home internet usage during this time frame as well?

18) What type of cereal did Dylan eat that morning? Was it just purchased the night prior at Walmart on the way home or was it something already in the home?

19) When LE did the initial, cursory check of the home on Monday, November 19 was it noted that a used cereal
bowl and/or utensils were in the kitchen?
- or any indications of Dylan's possibly eaten/drank a few hours prior?

20) What was the condition of the bed made on the couch for Dylan?
- did it appear to be in a natural disarray as if it'd been slept on? Or more folded and neat?
- were Dylan's clothes noted to be there on the couch/bed? If so were they just crumpled and just tossed there? Clean or dirty? Or neatly folded? What were the articles of clothing left behind?

21) Was Mark able to give the initial search dogs a scent article from any of the bedding or discarded and left behind clothing of Dylan's? If not, why not?

**this of course needs to be added onto with other various questions that we find to be of importance regarding his disappearance**
Again just the first 20 questions that I could think of off the top of my head that have been asked/discussed at some point throughout Dylan's 20+ threads ... just wanted to compile a list of them from those that I could recall or thought were of importance...

Please continue adding to our list any/all pertinent questions that you can recall that's been asked/discussed..or ones that have not yet been asked/discussed..

Of course as we all know while these are undoubtedly issues of importance..some whose answers would literally paint IMO a very clear picture of what occurred.. many we'll likely not ever get the answers to..or at least not any time in the near future..jmo.

Feel free to add/edit the list:)

Now I have a question... why would Dylan pull clothes out of his backpack if he wasn't going to wear them?

Could be several reasons. He could have been looking for something in particular and just didn't stuff them all back in. Like a phone charger that his mother swore he took with him and possibly he forgot to pack it. Unless his mom packed for him or sat and watched him pack, how does she know for sure that he did? It's just something we may never know.

In big cities with missing children, there are times when trash collection and dsiposal is isolated or searched. Checking out Bayfield is a *real* education about small towns.

http://www.co.laplata.co.us/departm...ability_office/solid_waste_and_trash_disposal

Is it standard practice for small, rural areas to haul their own trash to the waste management facility? Don't know if this increases or decreases the likelihood of someone disposing of a body this way. Probably decreases it, eh? What with all that unfettered wilderness around, who would bother with the trash? Just spinning my wheels searching for the where.
