Anyone want a donut?

I just had two leftover doughnuts that my son didn't eat. I'd rather have yours. I'm so delirious over here when I glanced down at the thanks I left I could have sworn it said thepinkdonught lol (or donut) haha

Here is a thought I have been pondering (even though I still feel MR has something to do with this)....if MR is guilty, why on earth would he not say Dylan was gone in the morning when he woke up to check on him? Wouldn't that make more sense if he was guilty? Thoughts?

That's interesting. That's usually the scenario - parent wakes up to discover child gone.

But he knew his dad was coming back at 11 to give him a ride. Why doesn't he leave him a note, or a message?

My son wouldn't. He'd just figure I'd know where he went and was.

Just like he never put his cereal bowl in the sink no matter how many times I told him or turned the tv off when he left. Actually I was very thankful when he learned to close the front door and not leave it standing open till I got home as happened several times.:floorlaugh:

Also- theoretically if time missing is while he is on errands, then he has created alibi.

But it begs the question- if he is conspiring and making up a story, isn't he likely say DR stayed up late watching TV and HE went to bed early, rather than saying DR went to bed early and slept in? It would have been much more intuitive for about 99% of the population. Who thinks up "kid went to bed way early AND slept in"?

Neither of these represent my beliefs, only random ponderings.

maybe Dylan was awake and didn't want to leave with Dad because he had other plans?

Add me to your way of thinking. Earlier today I wrote a post describing these very things - mineshaft, well, ravine and the like. An accident. It seems to me the backpack and cell phone are where Dylan is. My thinking is along the lines of no clues, nothing found in the searches, and no sightings of Dylan Monday morning away from the house. This is a real perplexing case IF everyone involved is telling the truth. Otherwise... It's difficult to go there for me.

It's a mystery right now why nothing of his has turned up. He had several things with him. He grew up around there so I'm thinking he knew of all kinds of really neat places to go to check out and explore. I would at that age. I can see him doing something like that while he waited for Dad to come back and give him a ride. If he got stuck somewhere, he couldn't get out. I was watching Disappeared the other night about an avid hiker who went into a desert to look for the Lost Dutchman Mine and disappeared. They found his base camp but didn't find him for a few years. Just in September they found his remains lodged in a crevice in a mountain nearby the base camp. He had hiked alone so no one was around to hear his calling anyone for help.

Yes. Except *if* any of this did happen by MR's hand, he's probably not thinking very logically right then, AND he may be trying to come up with a reason no one has heard from Dylan since early the night before.

Has LE said they were waiting on any kind of tox reports or anything from evidence they removed from MR's home. I haven't heard that they even removed anything or if they did what it was. Another one of those 'close to the vest' things I guess. :waitasec: jmo

No. There was speculation as to why MR didn't have his vehicles back yet. (I don't know if he has, I don't know if he hasn't.) And what was also asked was why it's taking so long to get reports back from the crime lab. I was addressing that.

LE has never said if and what they took from MR's home that was being tested.

I know that there is alot of questions about the cell phone. The phone stopped pinging at 8 pm. The battery would need to be removed or the phone destroyed in order to stop pinging a tower. I've done some research on this, and I can't get past the fact that a phone still pings when the phone is off.

i have been thinking of the statements made from the friends he was supposed to meet up with with. Their fist suggestion was Dylan was known to hitch rides which I don't think Dad was aware of..

also, in the news more and more lately, I have been reading about kids killing kids... What of Dylan attempted to hitch a ride with a teenager who harmed him?

And another thing I have been thinking of is maybe Dad has a bad friend that knew Dylan was there that morning alone?

The kids bringing up someone taking him right off the bat struck me as strange. Most kids don't assume something bad has happened until quite a bit of time has passed. So I have pondered something happening along those lines as well.

BBM: Like the Autumn Pasquale case where two boys murdered her for her BMX bike for parts. They were 15 and 17 years old. Unbelievable.

Mostly kids do not do a very good job of hiding bodies though.

do you think Dads mentioned between 7.30 and 11am to one of his friends that Dylans home alone? and the friends gone and grabbed him? or that the bad friend has called in and thought hello opportunity here

Not exactly.. More along the line of Dad bragging that Dylan is coming home for a visit, and then complaining that he has a divorce lawyer appointment that very next morning.... so the friend shows up while Dad is gone, and because Dylan is known to hitch rides..asked this guy for a ride thinking that the man is safe because it's Dads friend.

If he was staying with a relative that he didn't always stay with would he think the same?

lol. Ok. If not hiking, how about we all meet in Durango, sleuth all over the place and then head over to the little town of Silverton, Co ... it's about 50 miles away. We can can go skijoring. I'll bring the horses.

SkiJoring - YouTube

No thanks. I'd biff it before I got to the first little hill. :floorlaugh: I stay back at the lodge and make hot cocoa for everyone. :great:

If you believe as I do that MR is most likely involved, we need to sleuth areas he is familiar with...fishing spots, places of employment, routes he drives, etc.

I did a Mapquest map of the following locations:

http://mapq.st/ZcXojv

  • A = Durango La Plata Airport - 1000 Airport Rd Durango
  • B = Walmart - 1155 S Camino Del Rio Durango
  • C = McDonalds - 185 Suttle St Durango
  • D = United Pipeline where MR reportedly worked (I'm not sure if this is his current place of employment) - 135 Turner Dr Durango

Distances:

Airport to Walmart = 11.24 miles
Walmart to McDonalds = 1.78 miles
McDonalds to United Pipeline = 1.01 miles

If you use google maps and look at the street view of United Pipeline you can see that it's right next to the Animas river and there are lots of places to pull off the road alongside.

It's extremely curious to me that United Pipeline is so close to the McDonalds & Walmart locations.

BBM

I too find it interesting that UP is so close to McD's & Walmart!!!!!

Thank you for doing this.

Mark went to United Pipeline when he was doing errands Monday morning.

What other plans? He already made plans with his friends.

Dylan wakes up, turns on tv, eats a bowl of cereal, picks up his backpack and grabs his fishing rod and starts walking. Someone comes along, gives him a ride, poof no more Dylan.

I personally cannot rule that out in my mind yet.

Or, expanding a bit - Dylan's phone battery dies Sun. night. Dad and Dylan get home, Dylan forgets to plug his phone in. Dylan wakes up, grabs a bowl of cereal, reaches for his phone and remembers its not charged. Dylan plugs the phone in to charge, turns the TV on and there is a knock at the door. Come on, let's go. Dylan grabs phone, charger and all, throws it in his backpack, grabs his pole and takes off, thinking he will call his dad when he gets to his friends' house.

This is what I think happened. I think someone Dylan knew showed up to give him a ride.

ETA: I really want to know what articles of clothing were left behind.
