My son wouldn't. He'd just figure I'd know where he went and was.

Just like he never put his cereal bowl in the sink no matter how many times I told him or turned the tv off when he left. Actually I was very thankful when he learned to close the front door and not leave it standing open till I got home as happened several times.:floorlaugh:

(We lived in an area very similar to where MR lives.)

I know that every kid is different. Maybe Dylan is a lot like your son then. Mine wouldn't do that because he knew I would embarrass him by calling out the cops and rescue dogs to look for him if he left with no note or message, if we had plans of me coming to pick him up.

Your son would assume you knew where he was. But he lived with you every day in the same house. You knew his routine. But I don't think Dylan spent that much time with his dad. How would he expect his dad to know where he went?

BBM

Thank you. Mark went to United Pipeline when he was doing errands Monday morning.

Do you have a link for this? I missed this....

Thanks,

Salem

But he knew his dad was coming back at 11 to give him a ride. Why doesn't he leave him a note, or a message?
Maybe he expected to be back before MR was.

lol. Ok. If not hiking, how about we all meet in Durango, sleuth all over the place and then head over to the little town of Silverton, Co ... it's about 50 miles away. We can can go skijoring. I'll bring the horses.

SkiJoring - YouTube
Only if I can ride one of the horses, I don't think my walker would do well in the snow. My balance is really bad these days.

Mostly kids do not do a very good job of hiding bodies though.
Everything goes in the closet or under the bed!

If he was staying with a relative that he didn't always stay with would he think the same?

Oh yes, he had no manners anywhere. Manners or consideration? Whatever, He was a scatterbrained teenager no matter how much structure I provided.

13 is a very difficult age for children, ask any middle school teacher. Peers are the most important thing in their lives.

I would have really been worried about him if I hadn't gone through similar things with his stepbrother.

I know that there is alot of questions about the cell phone. The phone stopped pinging at 8 pm. The battery would need to be removed or the phone destroyed in order to stop pinging a tower. I've done some research on this, and I can't get past the fact that a phone still pings when the phone is off.

or underwater like happened with the two boys that crashed into water on their way to myrtle beach

What other plans? He already made plans with his friends.

Maybe he had a plan that included only him and the POI... But say the POI is much older than him, so he created another plan with his friends for 6:30 purposefully "slept in", waited for Dad to leave... The POI shows up.. And off went Dylan.

Or, expanding a bit - Dylan's phone battery dies Sun. night. Dad and Dylan get home, Dylan forgets to plug his phone in. Dylan wakes up, grabs a bowl of cereal, reaches for his phone and remembers its not charged. Dylan plugs the phone in to charge, turns the TV on and there is a knock at the door. Come on, let's go. Dylan grabs phone, charger and all, throws it in his backpack, grabs his pole and takes off, thinking he will call his dad when he gets to his friends' house.

This is what I think happened. I think someone Dylan knew showed up to give him a ride.

ETA: I really want to know what articles of clothing were left behind.

I had considered the same thing, except for starting to charge the phone. I guess your Dylan is more ambitious than mine is.

Someone he met on the plane and gave the address to?

If I had to narrow down my theories, I think tiredblondy's, Salem's, and the one I am still not sure if we are allowed to mention outright are the only three to consider. I cannot personally say that the two former ones could not have happened at least with the evidence we have (which isn't much).
I do hope they are working on something and/or have more information than we have.

I have posted this and I truly think the phone battery was not any good anymore. It died and could not be recharged. It was an old phone per his mom. jmo

And how did he create this so-called plan? Did he telepathically communicated with this POI? We are now going into alien abduction territory. This kid wanted to go visit friends as soon as he showed up. His father told him it was too late. If his father drove him to see his friends that Sunday, he would probably spend the night there. So there is no way he was planning some meeting on Monday with an older POI.

Mother never said the phone was old.

I'm not sure about that. Everything I've read says that a phone stops pinging when it's turned off or the battery dies. Maybe it depends on the phone?

I played with the idea of Dylan having other plans for awhile, but I do feel like something would have emerged by now. I do still think it is possible someone dropped by.

R: Can you tell me about your plans for Thanksgiving?

M: Well, because he was with me for such a short period of time, we had touched on a few things. One of the things was we talked about going to my brother David's house in Castle Rock. Um, I know his friends were important to him so we were wanting to make sure he had adequate time with his friends. Um, you know basically the plan was Monday and Tuesday he would spend with his friends. Maybe Wednesday, you know we had talked a little bit about going bowling or doing something as an activity, not with just me and him, his friends included. Then we would have Thanksgiving day to ourselves. Or there was a possibility we would travel and get to my brother's house. So, you know, none of that ever got finalized. I mean, we were just focusing on the next day and what we were going to do and how that was going to take place. That's as far as we really ever got. You know, his friends are important to him and I certainly don't expect him to spend a whole week with me when he's got, he's grown up in this community and he's got tons of people who love and care about him.

BBM: That's why he was all packed up to go. JMO.

Dylan wanted to go visit his friends on Sunday after he arrived. He had to change that plan because MR decided it was too late. So the plan to go visit friends starting Monday was only made on Sunday after Dylan already arrived at his father's.

how does POI know that Dylan will be at his dads rather than in bayfield at his mates where he was going to be going on the sunday night?

He must have magic telepathic powers.
