That's what we have been told. Again tho a poster pointed out it was a quote from Dad. So did say it? I wish LE could/would clarify some of these many questions we have.

Oh that's right! Dad said it after being under alot of scrutiny. He could have just been clarifying. LE knows the truth. Thanks for pointing that out. Sometimes it gets confusing, what we know as fact (very little) and what each of the parents have said.

Mom and Cory were at the big fundraiser last night. Where is dad? Was he there? If not, why not?

To highlight either poor reporting and/or inconsistent statements by LE or something else I'm missing:

Saturday 12/8, "The thought of abduction was completely unexpected, yet investigators told Action 7 news that's exactly what they think happened."

Monday 12/10, "11 News asked investigators if they think the boy was abducted; they say at this point they’re not sure, but are investigating every possibility. "

Anyone care to weigh in?

*eta: There's always new or changing information, but..... I'm not sure what to think at this point

Just a question....

Could the iPod that was taken by LE and the fishing pole reported missing by MR be red herrings?

The iPod I don't know. Since the very first time I heard about the fishing pole I thought RED HERRING!
But that's just my hinky meter.

They're not sure what happened, and don't have enough evidence to either
support it or rule it out.
imo

I think it is semantics but they are both saying essentially the same thing: they think it is a possibility and it is being investigated:twocents:

I agree w/both of you and my concern is -that's exactly what they think happened-. Even though it's not in "Quotes", it's attributed to investigators and that's some strong language there.
I hate semantics! :banghead: and headaches :banghead:

Just a guess here. I think that they were saying on the 8th that, even though nobody there (LE or the community) expected an abduction to happen there, it looks like it's a possibility.

On the 10th, when asked if they think he was abducted, they say they aren't sure (meaning they still think it's a possibility, but not the only one.)

I don't see them as conflicting. They're slightly different answers to slightly different questions. MOO

Mom and Cory were at the big fundraiser last night. Where is dad? Was he there? If not, why not?

My guess is that he didn't want to cause drama. Or he could feel guilt. Or he's hiding something.

I am completely on the fence when it comes to what happened to Dylan.:fence: I pray he is found safe!

I agree that it is very strong language and the words were not minced.

I probably wouldn't go to a fundraiser with another parent who openly accused me of doing something horrible to my son either. All I ask out of parents in this situation is that they cooperate with LE fully-I do not put that much stock in them having to do other stuff. What is important to me is full LE cooperation and so far (unless I missed something) I have seen that from MR and ER.

But other people had sat/laid on the couch, used the blankets and pillows, which left THEIR scent on them. So there was nothing that had ONLY Dylan's scent. Like clothes that only he wore.

Meet Yogi (this was in the 90's)

Don't underestimate these dogs.

"On May 18, 1993, Alie Berrelez was kidnapped from the courtyard of the apartment complex where she lived in Englewood, Colorado.

Three days into the search, K-9 Yogi and his handler, K-9 Officer Jerry Nichols, were called to join the search for Alie. Rain had fallen and hundreds of volunteers had walked through the neighborhood searching for the little girl.

Yogi took the scent from clothing Alie had recently worn and began tracking. Relentlessly, Yogi tracked for several miles and at the entrance to the Interstate, Yogi headed up the ramp and began tracking down the expressway."

Going through Bayfield would not be a direct route.

Not really direct, no, but maybe better roads than driving from Durango to Vallecito on all county roads?

I input four different "get directions" in Google maps: Walmart Supercenter in Durango to MR's home in north Vallecito, the Durango McD's to MR's home, Durango to MR's home, and Durango to MR's home via Bayfield.

Even though the distances change, all routes ended up being 1 hour, 20 minutes, plus\minus a few minutes, even the one leaving from McD's which is the northernmost starting point in Durango. I don't know if the county roads are paved--where I am from in WY, many county roads are gravel, while others are considered a highway and so are paved, though some are not very wide, and may or may not have shoulders.

So it seems as if MR could easily have driven DR to a friend's in Bayfield, and gone on home without losing much time. I am not suggesting he did so, just that going home that way would not have been out of the question, even if it "feels" like an out of the way route to the MR house.

Round and around it goes . . . .

That is one amazing "bloodhound", I remember that story well. I am not aware that bloodhounds were used here.

Yes .. Yogi had a good scent article. They can track in amazing conditions with amazing results if they have a GOOD SCENT ARTICLE.

You can't explain to a dog WHICH scent to take off of a couch. But given a SPECIFIC scent .. dogs can track with amazing accuracy..

imo

IDK. But we do have a verified psychiatric nurse, who has spent years working in mental health facilities. PENSFAN.

That is one amazing "bloodhound", I remember that story well. I am not aware that bloodhounds were used here.

Members of La Plata County Search & Rescue team using bloodhounds searched for the teen Monday night and Tuesday. The search area included the shoreline around Vallecito Lake, several small subdivisions, county roads, steep wooded hillsides and hiking trails. Many of the homes in the area are seasonal while some are occupied year around.

Dad did provide scent items, but they flew in better ones. That makes sense to me because in a matter this important you want a good (no, the BEST) scent item possible. That aspect of the case does not seem that weird or suspicious to me.

Other than in the Nancy Grace transcript, does anyone remember where it was reported about an ipod being left at dad's and/or removed by LE during the search? I thought I read something about an ipod at dad's house somewhere but can't find a link/source. I'm having trouble finding anything specific other than Nancy Grace...
