looking at times of the text exchange between Ryan and Dylan, it was between 6.43 and 7.09 that Dylan said he can't come that his dad had said no.

its not exactly 'late' is it.

and Dylan's text to his mom that ended with the scowl was at 7:06pm

So I have a declaration to make and you can come at me if you please.
But I just removed a GIANT white picket fence post from my rear and
hopped onto the ground.
Who's with me ?

I am almost there. I remain open to other possibilities, but it is getting more difficult to do so, for me. Mostly, I feel as though chances that Dylan is okay someplace just decreased dramatically from an already low percentage.

No cell phone "talk" reception? I can believe that, but we've been told that texting was generally not a problem, and also, at one point, we were told (I believe) that there was an area in MR's house where cell reception was actually pretty consistent -- I recall mentioning at the time that the same thing was true in my house (no, I don't know why).

dlc,

Please read some posts I made a few days ago about cell phones:

Some of these discuss why MR would have had problems with texts when he tried to contact DR late Monday morning/early Monday afternoon, but the technical concept is the same.

And I think this is the last word I will have on DR until something happens in the case. We're just running around in circles at this point IMHO.

I found this interesting as well:

And yes, I do realize that this is only coming from his mother.... but I consider it and file it away like I do everyone's statements/paraphrases/etc.

Many of the things Dylan loves are the same as his brother, Cory, their mother said. The two would spend a lot of time throwing the football outside and are known to stay up late playing video games. Dylan looks up to his 21-year-old brother, Elaine said.

They went fishing together, but Dylan would quickly become bored and start skipping rocks or swimming in the lake instead. He wouldn’t just grab a fishing pole and head to the lake by himself, his mother said.

I would love to see the video of DAD at walmart!
What he bought how he was with his son.
I wouldnt be surprised if he bought a fishing pole.

It would show the dynamics between the two.

I've been curious for awhile now since you have brought up the subject several times of wondering if he bought a fishing pole at Walmart. Do you think MR did not own a fishing pole at all? And had to buy one so that he could use that to throw LE off?
I just don't get where the fishing pole is a red herring. Even IF he did buy one that night, what does that prove? And wouldn't he have said, the fishing pole he just bought was missing, rather than A fishing pole was missing?
I guess I'm just not getting the significance. Let's just say he did buy one. Then he tells them Dylan is missing, and oh yeah... his pole is missing, too. He would be kind of stupid to have bought one that night knowing he was going to use it to throw LE off somehow, wouldn't he? I guess if he's smart enough to come up with a ruse like that, he would be smart enough to know LE is going to check his receipts to see what he bought and that Walmart has security cameras at the door. Maybe not, but if he's that smart, then why do something so stupid?
We are going around in circles and the wheel just won't stop turning.

Thank you, I am trying in my own feeble way to help folks understand a little about investigations in general. I personally don't think this case will be close to being solved unless Dylan is found. There is no smoking gun, apparently, but they still could know way more than we do, just waiting on more proof.

I hope I don't come across as condescending or rude, I certainly don't intend to. Sometimes I do tend to type too fast and forget my manners. I think we're all getting desperate.

Thanks for sharing this info. It's difficult to remember sometimes that LE"S job is not to inform the PUBLIC ( unless theres' a danger to society , which my guess is this time there is not) but to catch AND CONVICT criminals. SO if they pacify us with information that later taints their case in court, what good was it to know. I'd much rather be in the dark while they build a solid case !

I really don't think Dylan would hitchhike and not text Ryan. He would text. It seemed to me he quit texting before his convo was done the night he arrived.

That's exactly what it seems like!
Something happened a little after 8! IMO
Do we know the timing they were at walmart? Does that pic from walmart have a time stamp on it? I didn't see one but I'm a on a little cell phone screen.

O/T - apologies

Whenever someone gets a chance, no hurry:

1) Can anyone tell me how to search threads here for specific key words? It seems like other people can do it, but I can't. Do you have to have a certain number of posts before you can do it?

2) On PMs, if you send a message, is there an "outbox," or some other way to see what was sent?

Thank you.

"They" are wrong. Sorry to talk about this again, but there is no way for the police to know whether the phone was turned off, is broken, has a dead battery, or is just out of range of cell towers.

Now dont you think LE would wonder if Dylan arrived home with dad that evening he would have charged it.

If it was broken dad would know. And Its NOT cell towers!

That child and his phone vanished at 8 pm and thats my guess!

Aha, that is something I've been wondering a long time. Was Dylan an avid lover of all things fishing? Apparently not... maybe mildly entertained but not something he'd fly out of bed in the morning to go do by himself in the dark and the cold when he's got a friend expecting him across town ! tks so much for sharing. I'm surprised I didn't see this.

With this question and statement, I'm out of here.

I have one of those glorious flip phones that I love. Last year, I was asking my wonderful agent where I get my cell phone and online modem a question about if my car ran off a road and I was unconscious could I be located with my cell pings. This is the answer I got ...

No because my old flip phone is the kind that once the battery dies it does not ping. My flip phone came into my posession in 2009 as a new phone. That is all I know because that is what I was told by the manager of the store.

If there is poor reception and spotty at times can cell phones still ping?

Are you considering that he might of just gotten into the lake on his own? Dont forget the water is not just cold but freezing. I gave this thought early on.

Which could of been down to him not being allowed to visit his friend IMO!!

So he was unhappy hence the reply to mum.

Dear Paul,

Thank you for that. I did read those posts, and understand about texts stacking up and all. But I still see the land line and computer as viable options.

Thanks.

Thank you. Plus there was the "can we not discuss both sides" which would imply there is two sides to discuss.

As would be the case many times with drug addicted parents. But it would still be up to the NCP to gather the relevant evidence and petition the court to change the custody arrangement. Judges don't like drug addicts raising children.

No I think you're great! I appreciate the insight :)

Thanks, you just made my whole day!!!!!!
I have to get off this computer, my husband is walking holes in the floor waiting to use it, and I have a major headache. A break and maybe a nap sounds good.

I would expect a salesman to provide a layman's explanation, but in all honesty, I did provide a link that stated that the FBI and the CIA had the necessary technology to trace a cell phone, turn it on and track it back in 2006. The sales person probably wouldn't have any idea about this kind of thing and likely was advising you based on your simple scenario rather than in the case of a missing child.

If you are on a specific thread, like this one, you can go to the section near the top where it says "search this thread"-I don't think you need more posts than you have, as far as I know.

I know my messages are not saved; not sure there is an option to save them.
