About the phone being shut off - did the police ever say that or did that come from the facebook? In my notes I have two things. 1 that the police said on NG on November 28th that Dylan's phone hadn't been used after sometime Sunday evening, and 2 that when the Durango Herald asked the police if it was true Dylan's phone had been shut off, Bender said he wouldn't comment.

Did the police say shut off at 8 o'clock?

I have to disagree but I'm not sure it really matters. I think the "lost" (quotes are hers) is the most telling part of that post. That poor woman knows what happened to her baby and it is destroying her.

Again, I'm referring to her comment under that post. I posted a link to it up above.

Thanks button was not enough. Heartbreaking. "If" Dad was involved I believe that was the motive.

Elaine has to cling to the hope that Dylan was abducted by a stranger and being held- it's the only way he can still be alive. Whether she truly believes it is only something she knows.

I'm not trying to stifle this discussion, but I don't think parsing her words will get anybody anywhere.

Only LE can confirm anything and since there has been very little as far as confirmation, we are just mincing words. I am not so sure that Elaine would use the word "lost" if she was convinced that Dylan went missing from Dad's house. But of course just like everyone else here, none of us really knows what she means when she types an emotional letter to her missing son or when she is responding to some disrespectful post. IMO

ITA and especially on the bbm.. this is what I was talking about earlier, not referring to here, but on FB when ER pours her heart out writing this heartbreaking message to her son, receives so much warm support and then a comment or two calling her out on her inappropriate "finger pointing".
Otherwise it's really encouraging to see how much dedication there is to Dylan... too bad love can't carry him home.

I do believe Bender said no phone activity after 8. I'm not sure if that was on NG or where?

I'm sure the 8 p.m. no cell activity is somewhere in the timeline. Hubby is about to put in Season 5 of Dexter so i don't have time to look (I cant believe Rita is dead) referencing Rita on Dexter. Sorry for the O/T Carry on.

I've sometime Sunday evening from NG -

BENDER: My understanding is -- and our investigators have checked his cell phone. Also, cell phones have GPS`s, so if they`re turned on, that gives a general location of the person. And we have been following up on those right along, and there`s been no activity on his phone whatsoever since Sunday evening sometime.

I'm not finding the police saying shut off or 8pm.

O/T Oh no, Rita dies? I'm on season 3. Poop, that sucks.

And I don't suspect anything of the sort.

Of course you don't.

We don't KNOW. Nobody KNOWS except LE. If LE suspected MR, I highly doubt they would share that with Elaine.

Is it a thought that the phone was still on and just not being used after 8pm? But it would still ping. Wouldn't it ping even if it was turned off? And they should be able to gain some information on where the cell last pinged. If it last pinged at dad's house, why wasn't it charged and in use at 8pm, would Dylan really stop communicating so early?

I know early on we beat this issue like a dead horse about phone being off vs. battery being out and pinging capabilities. So don't want to go down that road again...

I think the bottom line seems to be that there's been no contact from Dylan by any means since those texts to his friend. At least nothing that we've heard from family, friends, or LE. Whether his phone died, broke, went missing, was shut off, tossed, he's never been heard from again.

I'm not comfortable being that dismissive of what Elaine says. She's Dylan's mother. I'm going to consider what she says, and take her at face value. It just seems unfair to say she doesn't really believe what she says. As Dylan's mother, what she says is important.

I only asked if anyone had a tiny little piece of information, because I've searched for hours today and couldn't find it.

Good point. This is why I can't be dismissive of her initial concerns she expressed about what MR is capable of. As Dylan's mom she's surely trying to keep hope alive and balance reality at the same time. But hard to ignore a mother who speaks those words, they are important, IMO.

I posted seperately as it was not a response to your question. Sorry for the confusion.

just because she expressed disappointment that Dylan was left alone on monday, that does not mean that she 100% believes it happened that way, imo.

She probably does not know what exactly happened. But she does have her suspicions.

And for all we know, their fight happened at 11 am, not 8 pm the previous night. Maybe he took the phone away Sunday night, came back on Monday morning, and Dylan was angry and resentful. Things might have escalated from there.

I don't believe it has been definitively stated it was turned off versus not used. We do know there was not a gps.

My boys are not allowed to used electronics after 8:00 PM. Period. Even on weekends and holidays. If my kids phone activity ceased at 8:00 PM, anyone that knew me wouldn't be shocked or surprised. If it were up to my husband, however, they could play until bedtime. The fact is we don't know what LE knows. They said his phone activity stopped sometime after 8.

well as for the 8pm question my theory was debunked by people linking that it WAS STATED THAT THE PHONE WAS SHUT OFF/CUT OFF/NO LONGER OPERABLE 8PM 11/18..

So those links should be here at the start of this thread or toward the end of the last thread..

Agreed. I give most credence to the direct quotes we have from all who know Dylan best - preferably on camera, recorded interviews or typed by their own hands as comments on sites like the FMDR page. I trust paraphrased versions less after my relatively short few monthsn here at WS!

To me anything from Dylan's immediate family (including MR) and his closest friends (don't forget that they know the most about how their friend has and would act when not around his parents - like it or not, our kids all have this other side to varying degrees), and of course LE themselves, has the most value. This includes their opinions about how Dylan would or wouldn't behave in certain situations.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/h/harvey_christopher.html
Description of the Harvey abduction also includes note about another teenager found walking on a road six weeks after Harvey was abducted. This boy had been severely beaten but I couldn't find any more details about him.

Thanks for bringing up this old case on Christopher Harvey.

Checking on the map for Colorado, I found
Dylan disappeared 11-19-12 in Vallecito which is in La Plata County,
Christopher disappeared 7-11-84 near Pagosa Springs which is in Hinsdale County (the next county over)
and the beaten boy was found in Eagle County 1984 (three counties up).
All three counties are on the western side of the San Juan National Forest.

Now, I'm wondering if there could be a connection between these three cases and if there have been other teenage boys reported missing over the years?

BTW, here is a link to a one post thread on Christopher located here on WS under Missing Children in America - A Profile.
CO Christopher James Harvey (14) - Hinsdale County CO, 1984 - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community
You're welcome.

The articles I found said that CJH disappeared about 17 miles northwest of Pagosa Springs. 17 miles NW of Pagosa Springs (as the crow flies) lands you about 7 miles east of the Vallecito Reservoir. If those reports are correct, this happened very close to where Dylan disappeared.
