I would hope that LE would have some type of "evidence" to back up this theory.....I'm not even sure I can call it a theory....sounds like a great big wild goose chase to me :floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

Wow...

I don't see any LE offering immunity on that page.

I don't know what's going on with this. I hope ER, MR, the facebook admin, somebody has asked LE to check up on this guy and this 'effort'. I would not like to see anyone interfering with the investigation or leading the family down the yellow brick road.

I'm a skeptical person, and this thing (not even sure what to call it) makes me uncomfortable. Looks like I'm not at all alone in feeling leery about this.

Shout out to White Rabbit -- are you permitted to outline your thoughts yet? Just wondering, since we seem to have covered many if not most of the salient points at this point.

thanks phantom, not sure what you're referring to? :blushing:

TIA...

While you guys are critical of this offer, I find it to be shrewd and calculating. If someone contacts him, that's the single biggest lead they could ever hope to obtain at this point. And it's traceable. He knows full well that he can't give someone immunity, but that doesn't mean he can't say it's possible. And since he is retired LE, he isn't bound by what he says.

BBM

Joking right?

This perp would have to be one stupid person. Sorry but I don't see any sane person falling for this. Of course, there is the slight chance this person isn't sane. I guess?

And this is all based on the assumption that someone is holding Dylan.

Because clearly kidnappers are the most intelligent, sane, and rational folks who think out their crimes with such clarity and conviction that they have an almost encyclopedic understanding of the law and legal system. Cunning folks, those kidnappers are.

Yeah, well it wouldn't make much sense if it were based on any other assumptions, no?

Well maybe you're right? I guess it's more than anyone else is attempting to do at this point.

Not particularly insane, or stupid, perhaps naive?

I missed this gem:

<modsnip>

I do not believe at all that LE okayed this plan. NO WAY. At least the LE involved in Dylan's case didn't.

The kidnapper is going to get the reward?!

It's on a whole other level of naive. First, they keep saying that someone is "holding" Dylan. You can't sugarcoat an abduction anymore than that. Then, they have this idea that they will communicate with the kidnapper (I mean, the "holder") through email. They will ask him a question, that only Dylan knows. The kidnapper will get the answer from Dylan, and reply back. Then, they will meet in some private spot. They will exchange the reward money for Dylan. Everyone will go on with their day.

Kidnappers can't be smart? They can't be cunning?

He's kidnapped a child for almost two months, or killed him and hid the body and has left no evidence of himself. No trace. A good amount of people believe Dylan's father is involved. He doesn't sound like an idiot to me.

You also don't have to have some intense knowledge of the legal system to know that you can't get immunity through email. I doubt this is his first crime, either.

Could it be that they aren't trying to get the person responsible to go for the offer of amnesty. Maybe they are aiming for a friend, acquaintance, neighbor, family member, someone who may know something or has seen something. IMO

Has there been news ?????

Well, they specify that their message is for the person who is holding Dylan or the person who knows who is holding him. So, it's for both.

But even if you know who is holding him...How would you be able to ask the "special question" to Dylan? :waitasec:

I am thinking that whomever contacts the admin for the FMDR page about amnesty will actually trigger a visit from law enforcement. I could just see some person saying "hey, wait, you can't charge me with a crime, the guy on facebook promised me amnesty!!!"

You have to be on an entirely different level of stupid to fall for that. Also, doesn't that assume that there is the kidnapper....and someone who is also involved criminally in this?

Regarding the FB messages, anyone with information about Dylan - or ANY missing person - should contact LE or crimestoppers or a bonafide organization associated with LE. There is no guarantee that someone soliciting info is not using it to make sure info doesn't get to LE or for their own use. I'm very suspicious of this person.

Has LE commented on these posts?

folks: do not copy and paste facebook comments. You can link to the page and paraphrase.

Thanks so much

Not that I have seen reported.

And any comments on social media are always considered rumor.
