Why has it taken months and Mark backed into a corner before he will sit down with Elaie and Cory . We will have to wait and see if he follows though on this as at the moment it's just "talk' .

If it's all about control and some sick game he is playing with Cory and Elaine, AND HE IS INNOCENT, he is one stupid person.

He can't play mind control games with everyone. It doesn't work with strangers.

To me it just seems so simple if he is innocent. Be an open book, take the poly, talk to the Mother and Brother of your child and make an effort to find Dylan. SIMPLE. And if not...well everyone is going to continue to have their eyes on you MR.

If mom believes dad did something, I hope all the public pressure wont end up in a suicide- if that was to happen Dylan will never be found- just like Trenton Duckett. If he did something, he is the only source of information until Dylan is recovered. Keep your friends close and enemies closer.

Le is certainly not making an effort to give MR any sort of clearance. This would have been the perfect opportunity for them to say, "hey, this guy is still talking to US, that is all that matters." But instead they say no one has been named as an "official suspect".

Ugh, I just hope that if he is their unofficial suspect, they have a bit more than we have seen or heard. This case just screams "likely to remain unsolved" right now to me. How easy it seems to be for this to happen in these types of cases. I am feeling so pessimistic and still a little worried about a possible local man with an urge for boys that no one knows about.

MR does not seem the type for suicide at all. He is being belligerent instead and claiming he is being persecuted. He paints his ex and his son as being the ones with the problems. No, if this remains in limbo, he is more likely to move out of the area after a while. No one can stop him.

I don't believe that any of them could sit down and be civil towards each other. That's why I think hiring a mediator is the best solution. He said he would arrange that through his attorney, not that the attorney would be the mediator. There are professionally trained family law mediators. And this family definitely calls for one. Now IF he doesn't try to arrange that...well I will have no doubt.
If Elaine would have hired an attorney they would have advised her not to take a poly either. But she didn't. Why? Because she knew she would pass because she has nothing to hide! I understand that poly's aren't 100% without flaw. But what are the odds that two independent poly's would be flawed?

Hopefully, if LE sees him as a "possible suspect", they will monitor his whereabouts. This is a perfect opportunity for him to "slip away".

ETA: Let's hope the FBI is current on the happenings...

I wonder if MR sent his child support checks for Dec and Jan.

But he is free to leave, move away, quite openly. And if he is arrogant, he would probably even tell them where he was headed.

But he may stay put for a while, as he wants to play the victim for now.

good question.

Personally I think it is absolutely awful that MR has not spoken out, pleading with the media, etc. He does not care one bit about his son - he is only worried for himself. Simply disgusting. He holds the answers imo.

Good question, but usually these days child support is taken directly out of ones paycheck. If he isn't working there probably is no paycheck.

The entire point of a mediator is getting a neutral party to bring both sides to a table. His divorce attorney is hardly a neutral party. I imagine, however, ER would get in the room with just about anyone if she thought MR would be forthcoming. I'm gonna bet this offer never comes and is, as some have noted, a stalling tactic.

Dylan- where ARE you?

What does a divorce lawyer have to do with this?
and I agree hes not neutral.
They want him to take another polygraph.
they want some answers. This isnt about custody anymore.

In this type of situation, would the parent responsible for child support file something with the court to suspend the payments?

  • #854
Lawyers are not mediators. Lawyers have access to professionally trained family law mediators and use them all the time. He said he would ARRANGE IT through his lawyer didn't he? NOT that the lawyer would be the mediator. Mediators are totally neutral parties and they know what they're doing. This is the smartest idea anyone has come up with yet IMO. Let's see if he actually does it.

Probably. But if there is an arrearage he will still be subject to IWO (income withholding order) until he is paid in full.

Im not so sure he paid child support.
I think he walked away from the marriage with everything.
Everything but Dylan!

I see it as another legal tactic for MR. Oh, another way to aggrevate and control Elaine (and to get to see her all emotional and pleading). The man loves to involve the court - look at his divorce proceedings/hearings......By the time the first meeting is set up it will be spring and the searches will have started again.

But you can't take child support out of the paycheck if there is no paycheck.

It should be really really simple for him to arrange an appointment with a mediator. He calls the lawyer and says can you recommend a mediator. Lawyer gives him the number of a few mediators, he calls makes an appointment, asks the mediator to contact Elaine to confirm with her, they both show up at the designated time and they talk. And the mediator will keep them focused on the questions at hand rather than letting them get into a boxing match. It's really simple and it should be fast. They could probably be in the mediators office by next week.

Is there any chance at all he'd cave to her if they sat at a table (with a mediator) and she pled for information about Dylan? If Elaine is his Achilles' heel maybe she could get to him in person? I don't know. I'm not feeling very well today and am finding myself in a weird place about this today.

This would be a private meeting with a mediator, not arranged through the court. It really is the best idea IMO.
