It might be too late for SAR dogs but not for cadaver dogs. They can pick up the scent of human decomposition for many many years. Some cadaver dogs are trained to pick up the scent in water also.

What could it hurt? One dog team is not going to be able to cover that much ground. Get them all out there!

LE has stated there was no activity on Dylan's cell phone after Sunday night but they will not state when it shut off. I think it's obvious by activity they mean texts, calls etc. I think everyone is talking about two different things. ACTIVITY AND SHUT OFF and they are different.

Lets think about it this way. We know NR was sending Dylan texts starting early Monday morning. So if the phone was on, there should have been activity on it-incoming texts.
But there was not since Sunday evening.

This has already been posted numerous times. Bender is on quote saying there was no activity on the cell phone whatsoever since Sunday evening sometime. While we can debate whether no activity means no pinging, I am pretty sure any cell messages on Monday can be safely ruled out.

I know that I'm not as up on what the norm is here, so forgive me if I'm asking a stupid question, but at some point, if we have actual _quotes_ from people relevant to the case, and in a position to give a statement, as presumably Office Bender is, do we agree to accept them?

I mean, we know he said it, because we have a video and a transcript.

I'm really not trying to be rude, I'm just not understanding what all of this debate is about.

Maybe start the dogs somewhere other than the house. Maybe near the bridges that LE searched

Seriously? They had dogs at the Lake and Marks to my knowledge. There are miles and miles of places around the area where he could be and need to be searched by cadaver dogs.

I am not talking about search and rescue dogs. Remember these are differently trained dogs. I'm not sure what this woman with Sadie has but most have both.

Yes, I agree. No cell activity (unspecified whether texts/calls or pings) Sunday evening sometime. Not no cell activity after 9:37. Not definitively no pings after 9:37. Not definitively no pings since sometime Sunday evening.

And yes, it's been posted numerous times by numerous people. Doesn't matter. I'm not going along with it. I'm going to wait until definitive, specific information comes from what I consider to be a reliable source.

I tend to agree. He at the very least had a cell phone (with service) and an iPod with texting capabilities. I don't see any way he would have not contacted his friends Monday morning if he was able to.

**just a brief correction to your last sentence though. We don't know when the cell phone was shut off.

At 8:01 Dylan (or Dylan's cell phone) started a texting conversation with RN. There were several back and forth texts without any time stamp after the first text at 8:01. There could have been up to 9 minutes of lag time (or more) in between each text. So technically this conversation could have gone on until approx. 9:30 pm (if Ranch did the math right). Or if they were fast responses it could have been over by say 8:10 or so. We just don't know.

I have a hard time believing that these type of statements are merely assumptions. imo the statements were made with information first obtained from LE. But I agree that without any direct information from LE on this, it's impossible to know without a doubt. Therories are all any of us have.

REDWINE: It was my understanding from his dad that everything Dylan had was in his backpack including his cell phone, his iPod, his iPod charger, his cell phone charger, all of his clothes. So we had to actually make a trip to get some of Dylan`s clothes from where we live in Colorado Springs because it was my understanding there were no clothes at his dad`s house.

Sorry. I was writing while you were posting. That's what I thought - that he was a police department spokesperson, and had accurate information on the case, but now I'm thinking that maybe I was wrong.
