I think mr has a hard time expressing verbally all of the things in his mind and it comes out not really like he's thinking it. I think he meant to convey that the friend he wanted to visit was indeed the same one that was trying to text him on Monday. He knew the listeners knew about those texts from the news so he threw that comment in there.

Also I think if mr was texting and pretending to be Dylan, it would be obvious to the friends.

I'm going to throw this out there. I think something like this happened IF MR did something to Dylan. I have thought this through many many times.

I think something happened shortly after McDonalds. I think it's possible that they drove through, got their food, stopped at a nearby park to eat real quick and throw the football around that they had just gotten at Walmart. Something happens..an argument of some kind and Dylan ends up dead. Mark disposes of Dylan there and quickly (Animas River?) and jumps in the truck and heads home. I think the texts with RN were MR answering not Dylan. I think Dylan's backpack with all belongings were still in MR's truck so he has to dispose of them. I think he dreams up the fishing at the lake story, takes the backpack with most belongings and the fishing pole and dumps them in Vallecito lake. I think at this point the phone dies. I do not believe Dylan's phone ever received RN's 9:27 text. I think then MR goes back home and texts someone on Dylan's ipod as a cover up. I don't believe Dylan ever made it to MR's. And I think the body and the backpack are going to be found in two different places.

The end. JMHO of what could have transpired. I believe he had to mention the tossing around of the football because Dylan's prints would be on it. I believe the fishing pole was concocted to make it look like Dylan went off on his own fishing. I believe that he thought IF those items were found in the lake then everyone would believe this story.

All I can say is I personally have experienced a pathological liar for many many years and his story telling is very similar.

If Mark did send R those texts to coverup something, why didn't he continue doing it in the morning in response to R's 6:46 AM text asking "where are you"?

This is a good theory, but I think the bolded above is just too ambiguous. (sp) What kind of argument or 'something' could end up in the death of this child? jmo

One of my biggest problems with theories like this is that MR doesn't strike me as that stupid. If he knows that Dylan is dead, why not tell RN that he has to wait until his dad gets home the next day before coming over? That would get rid of all of the issues with whether or not he was able to wake him up, why Dylan didn't call to say he'd be late, etc. It seems that making plans to be there at 6:30 am would be a big mistake on MR's part, but not unexpected for the boys to do. I think he was already on the road at that point (can't use an iPod on the road) and Dylan's phone is already in the lake with the backpack.

That's possible. He should have said that he left the house at that earlier time instead of 7:30 AM if that's what happened. Why lie about the time that he left the house? MOO.

I could see several things. Dylan sulking and complaining that he didn't feel like throwing the ball around that Mark just bought. Mark gets irritated. I could see Mark throwing the ball over Dylan's head and Dylan getting irritated and mouthing off. I can see lots of things, especially if Dylan was acting less than excited to see his Dad who went through so much trouble and expense to get him there. I think Dylan arrived with attitude and it set Mark off the minute he got off the plane.

Dylan's phone was already in the lake. RN was texting Dylan's phone. So there's no way for MR to know that RN is texting.

I do not think Mark is stupid at all. I think the taking of the backpack and phone to his home first was because he is well aware of pings and such and knew it would prove that Dylan made it to the house. No I do not think this man is stupid in the least. I think he may have removed the battery before taking the stuff to the lake so the pings couldn't be traced.

Or perhaps he was getting ready to leave in the morning and didn't think to check the iPod before he left.

Maybe. But it's seems to me if he was going to send all of those texts the night before in a coverup, it would make sense that he would continue that coverup in the morning and not forget. MOO.

I don't think reasonable people can come up with a circumstance, fit of anger or argument that would lead to an act of violence being committed on a child, but as we all know, such dreadful acts do occur. I also believe MR is of at least average intelligence, but that doesn't mean panic or stress couldn't lead him to make statements against his own interest. I'm not convinced that is what happened, but I don't see anything that negates the possibility, either. All MOO

But RN was texting Dylan's phone. Dylan's phone is in the lake by the morning. MR has no way of knowing that RN is texting.

Dylan's phone was already in the lake. RN was texting Dylan's phone. So there's no way for MR to know that RN is texting.

So the cellphone went into the lake after the text messages where sent on Sunday?

Cory said Mark never harmed him.
Dylan's friends said MR and Dylan were buddies.

That does not correlate to Dylan ticked MR off cuz he didn't want to be there so MR harmed him. JMO

I just feel that from a Big Mac to murder is a huge leap. At least I am hoping so because I sure don't like the alternative. But, I certainly respect how you feel. jmo

I also remember seeing on MR's FB before it was deleted the picture of Dylan and the caption on it was 'my buddy, my heart'. The same phrase that the signs at the rally had written on them. jmo
