I've emailed the Denver Post for clarification on their report & asked if they have direct statements from law enforcement on whether a text was sent or rec'd.

Great! :great:

I just hope that reporter doesn't repeat something someone else already said!

Wow , great catch. Who caught this? Fedfan ? Nice job ! :)
If I'm gathering it right, the question is How did MR know his
friend was TRYING to text him ? Right ? Oh boy !

No, it wasn't me. I was simply trying to explain to another poster who was having a hard time understanding what the original poster was trying to say.

Let me find the original comment...

Welcome to my nightmare! MSM often "assumes" things or makes errors that they might consider insignificant, but to all of us, these details are VERY significant! Unless it comes straight from LE (and geez, sometimes not even then, lol) can we be sure it isn't just something some reporter worded wrong. Even when I have attempted to clarify with reporters, they don't always understand the question and often have only their pre-conceived ideas for a "correct answer". *sigh* Whatever happened to good old fashioned investigative journalism? JMO

I know this is true but how do we decipher what is fact vs fiction? And if we were to only go by what has been reported straight from LE we would have nothing....or very very little.

I believe it was posted on the FMDR Facebook page. Does that count?

it was on there but i couldn't locate it. they had the original release, so it should count....

Why won't everyone just cooperate with us and give us what we want!!!

News Release: Sheriff Office Continues Search for Dylan Redwine
Date: Thursday 1-24-12

La Plata County Sheriff’s Office and the Dylan Redwine Task Force is continuing its investigation into the disappearance of 13 year old Dylan Redwine. Dylan was reported missing by his father, Mark Redwine on November 19th, less than a day after arriving in La Plata County for a court ordered visitation.

LPCSO investigators from three different bureaus are following various tips that come in to the Task Force which consists of five local, state and federal law enforcement agencies . In the past few days, investigators have searched locations on snowshoes, under bridges, and other sites in three different areas in La Plata County and two other locations in Colorado.

LPCSO investigators and agents from the FBI met recently to develop strategies and review results of tests of evidence by CBI. Additional interviews are also being conducted locally and outside the area. In several cases, law enforcement agencies not connected to the Task Force have assisted in searches and interviews in Colorado and other states.

LPCSO Lt Ed Phippen, Task Force Leader said tips are promptly followed up on, regardless of reliability
including several from psychics and mediums. “We want to leave no stone unturned” he said.

An updated timeline for Dylan’s activities on Sunday November 18th has been released:

5:46PM Dylan arrived at Durango-La Plata airport.
7:05 PM Dylan at Durango Walmart
7:22 PM Dylan at Durango McDonalds
9:37PM Dylan’s last electronic device communication (texting)

The last person identified as having seen Dylan is his father, Mark Redwine.
Mr Redwine told investigators he saw Dylan at his Vallecito home early Monday morning, November 19th.

Rewards are offered for information related to Dylan’s whereabouts through Durango-La Plata Crime Stoppers
(970-247-1112), the FBI, and donations to a private fund. An updated Missing Person flyer was released a few days ago by Durango-La Plata Crime Stoppers. A copy is included in this news release as a separate attachment.
Anyone who may have information on Dylan’s whereabouts is asked to contact La Plata County Sheriff’s Office Investigators Dan Patterson (970-382-7015) or Tom Cowing (970-382-7045). There is a local tip line (970-382-7511) where tips can be left on an answering machine that is regularly checked by Investigators. Persons can call Durango-La Plata Crime Stoppers at 970-247-1112. Persons can also call the hotline for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-THE LOST (1-800-843-5678).

Am I allowed to post the link to the press release on the FMDR page? Social media rules confuse me!

ETA: Nevermind! MrsPC rocks!

So they are definitely not referring to the 9:27 text sent by RN here. And still to our knowledge the 9:27 text did not reach Dylan's phone.

This tells me that the phone was off and he used something else to send that message. That also fits with friends 'trying to text' him.
IMO the phone was taken off him, and he was told he was there to spend time with his father, not his friends. I think MR was offended that Dylan wanted to be with his friends not him. I think he was told he wasn't allowed to go that first night so he arranged it for as early as possible the following day.
What if Dylan was busted sending that 937 text from his ipod, after he had been told not to?

:moo::moo:

How does LE expect us to solve this case if they are withholding evidence from us? (LOL)

Couldn't his last text have just said I gotta go, my battery is dying! MOO

Not really much for me to say as others are expressing my exact thoughts and questions already..

I, personally from the time the newest timeline was released have never had any reason to believe that there was 9:37pm outgoing text from Dylan..and I have yet to see anything from LE stating that it was an outgoing text..the only thing I've seen is people's opinions here and elsewhere, and then just so happened that a reporter's words suddenly including this OUTGOING TEXT as fact per LE.. fact is we have nothing from LE stating such..IMO the added opinion is just that, opinion..

My personal beliefs at this time with what is known is

A) based on mom's reading her son's cell phone records THERE WAS NO OUTGOING COMMUNICATION, PERIOD FROM HIS CELL SHORTLY AFTER 8PM.

B) which leads me to the possibility that the 9:37 last electronic communication was an INCOMING TEXT and/or PING from Dylan's cell phone.

C) the last possibility that I personally see is that Dylan's cell phone was no longer able to be used for outgoing text/calls shortly after 8pm(and yes, I personally have an opinion on why it was no longer useable).. due to its no longer being of use there was an outgoing text via his iPod at 9:37pm.

But what makes C IMO even more unlikely is that Elaine, herself has stated that NO ONE HAD HEARD FROM OR HAD ANY COMMUNICATION with Dylan since SHORTLY AFTER 8PM..

MOO IS THAT DYLAN DID NOT SEND A TEXT, PERIOD AT 9:37PM AND IMO THATS EXACTLY WHY LE HAVE NEVER STATED SUCH, BUT RATHER ONLY AN ADDED OPINION TO LE STATEMENT IS WHATS RESULTED IN THE WHOLE "OUTGOING TEXT" BEING REPEATED AS FACT, WHEN IMO IT CLEARLY IS NOT!

All jmo.

if that was the case...why would that last text be kept secret from the public?

I agree except I think C before B.

I still think it's significant that they list the airport, Walmart and McDonald's arrival times, and then the last electronic communication (but not whether sent or received!), BUT they don't list what time Dylan arrived at Dad's house. :moo:

:moo::moo::moo: I believe that shortly after 8 pm Dylan was no longer in control of his cellphone. Until we have more information, I think that the timeframe from 8-9:30 pm Sunday night is crucial. I believe that Dylan's electronic device communication (texting) at 9:37 pm was the receipt of R's text; which reminded someone to dispose of the cellphone permanently. I no longer believe that Dylan and the cellphone will be located together. :moo::moo::moo:

I think LE released that 9:37 time as pressure. :moo:

I don't see it as being kept secret. They haven't said who he was speaking to, other than one place said one of his friends. LE has never released the content of any of the texts, it's only been those who chose to show them to the media. Perhaps this friend (or the friend's parents) prefer not to talk to them. MOO
