Thanks, Tennlyn for the candle link. I've put it back in my signature line as well. I took it out for a bit to post the information about the links for ER's uncut version. Back to normal now. Thanks again!

Please describe or give an example of ''
backing up circular sentence'' .
I've never heard this term. Tks
I thought from his first interview he said things that sounded
like a very articulate and educated man and then he throws in
an ' at ' at the end of every other sentence. But that is as far as
I got .

Maybe it is just me, but I have a hard time following what he is saying in these excerpts:

"As I was going down to Bayfield to check with Ryan, who I found at his friend Fernando’s house, and as soon as I went to Fernan…’cos I don’t know where all of them live –- but I knew a couple of ‘em live -- enough to get pointed in the right direction. "

"Well, we were watching the movie together. I remember the movie being finished. I at some point was pacing the floor and got up and was taking care of a few little things you know over here at the kitchen table while we were doing that but, you know, it was – Shortly after the ending of that movie, which my guess, and I don’t recall because I don’t keep track of the clock… you know…it must have been… I thought it was earlier in the beginning…’cos I was fairly tired anyway, and I know Dylan was tired because he indicated to me that because he had been up ‘till 4:00 the night before and that he had spent most of the day in the airport traveling to get here that he was tired, and, you know, it seems to me it had to been about 10:30’ish maybe by the time the movie got done… somewhere in there and, you know, shortly after that I ran up and went to bed and he finished up doin’ whatever he was doin’ watching Nickelodeon or whatever he was watching."

"You know, I spent 45 minutes… an hour… trying to get Dylan to wake up and, you know, and helping him… saying, you know, “Dylan, I’m going down,” ‘cos he had talked to me about going to see his friend, Ryan …that morning, but he wasn’t having no part of it… which is not uncommon for him. I mean, you can’t get him to bed and you can’t get him up. Pretty much how it is when he’s not at school to deal with, which is most of the time when he’s up here, although he had a school bus stop right down the street, so he could ride the bus from the school up here if I was home, or he could ride it to his mom’s house, which was a thing of beauty.
because her and I didn’t have to deal with transporting him. "

I can totally see why LE first considered Dylan a runaway, or at least that he had taken off on his own. Everything MR said and did would lead them to believe that, the fishing pole, his backpack gone, MR not worrying all the darned day, etc...

Just catching up, so I hope I am not repeating.

BBM - what bothers me about this the most is that early on he said that DR had nothing to runaway from, I can't remember the article but it was early and in Durango Herald.
So if you believe that you child had nothing to runaway from, why would you report them as a runaway? Not saying he did, I can remember how he said he reported it. IMO, if my child was missing and I did not think it was a teenage hissy fit because I said no to them, you can bet your sweet bottom I wouldn't allow LE to believe they were a runaway. I would do everything to make sure they looked at anything BUT runaway.

Rambling=Distracting from the question asked. IMO and JMO
Otherwise known as "circular reasoning". also IMO and JMO

I assure you it's not just you. Nothing makes sense...it's just a bunch of garbled words jumping from this to that. He specifically will not commit to anything in these answers.

So a sentence with no end, LOL ~ I get it . I didn't pay so close attention, but yes it looks worse in print than it sounded but he does have a hard time getting to his point.

Thank you. And that, IMO, is why I have most of those "red flags" I mentioned. This is very common with people who have committed criminal offenses. Not saying MR specifically, just in general. JMO and MOO

  • #749
But as someone pointed out there are times when he can be direct and purposeful in his answers. The red flags for me are those circular sentences that never give a purposeful answer. It's jibber jabber and avoidance of the question.

I have been there done that. My ex could talk totally normal like everyone else but try to pin him down with a question he didn't want to answer? Forget it. The circles would start and keep going and going and going. And I would end up totally confused just as I am now with much of MR's answers. They really aren't answers. They are diversions and they work well to confuse the questioner into thinking they've actually given an answer when they haven't.

I find the nap thing to be totally perplexing.

I agree! and this is the first he mentioned it, it was always he came home and tried to reach him, then search. If you took a 2-3 hr nap why was that never mentioned?

  • #751
When he got home he didn't think much about Dylan not being there...

"I didn't think a whole lot of it."

"I layed down and took a nap..."

"It was probably about 2:30 by the time I realized Dylan's still not home and I so I'm thinking, well if he aint gonna return my text messages and I aint hearin my phone ringing cuz he aint callin me, I need to go find that boy. So I stop by his friend T's house down across from the marina up here at the lake and nobody answered the door. So I'm thinkin well I didn't see his fishing pole you know and I thought maybe he'd wandered off and went fishin. Maybe he was with T at the lake. So I'm driving by the lake looking for him and T and didn't see anything as I was goin down to Bayfield to check with R, who I found at his friend F house and as soon as I went to F
cuz I don't know where all of them live, but I knew where a couple of them lived..."

"First words out of their mouth, we haven't heard from Dylan all day. That's when it hit me, that somethin wasn't right. And I immediately went to the Marshall's office in Bayfield."

OKAY, WTH?

I am waaaay behind because I have been watching Jody Arias lie her arse off all day...however... This conflicts with his earlier version, imo.

I will have to go find it, but I remember clearly that he once said that after waiting for Dylan to reply to his texts, he drove to the friends in Vallecito, and when that friend hadn't seen/heard from Dylan, he became worried and drove to Bayfield.

Does anyone else remember that version?

  • #752
Well, I don't know what to say <mod snip>. But, LE should absolutely go hard (my words). If Mr. Redwine is unaware of Dylan's whereabouts, then he has nothing about which to be concerned. And, he being an adult (w/a missing child no less) should be perfectly capable of handling that pressure, especially since he's made it pretty clear that LE is the entitiy responsible for finding his son (which is another example of misplaced anger BTW).

<mod snip>

In MR's words:
I believe in letting the investigation run its natural course.

Already discussed and yes you are correct. A contradiction.

Strange...that's all I can say. If he's not involved in Dylan being missing I am really baffled.

Mark said he tried texting Dylan all afternoon in an area with spotty cellphone service. When he didn't hear anything back by late afternoon, he went to Dylan's friend's house in Vallecito. That friend hadn't seen him.

OKAY, I guess I missed the earlier discussion so I will rehash.

This is a red flag, imo. Which version is correct? Or maybe neither, and he NEVER went to the house to check at all.

I can't decide if it is the inconsistent statements or the long drawn out too wordy answers or how he lowers his voice to the point he can barely be heard. I just can't believe him

  • #759
JMO and my impression but MR seems to have several speaking patterns. At times, he comes across as quite articulate. Then he seems to veer into good old boy territory with ain't this and ain't that. Then there are the totally confusing broken, backing up circular sentences. It makes me think of Croslin double talk (Haleigh Cummings disappearance) which I initially thought was a product of regional speech and educational level until I finally decided it was purposeful. Maybe I am overboard in my assessment, but I feel like I am listening to at least three different guys. All MOO.

I don't think you are overboard in your assessment - not one bit

And what exactly does THAT mean?

I think it means it goes on a 'natural course' from an active investigation, to a dead and cold one.
