What if it's not about pay but showing up to work??? What if it's about actually doing the job?? Someone is gonna have to do it if he doesn't. How does that reflect on his employment???

I can't imagine that under the circumstances his job would not let him have a few days off and obviously when he takes vacation or sick time they manage.

I have seen parents of missing children go on Maury. That trashy show where 90% of shows are finding out whether someone is the father or not. But parents will go on his show because it gives exposure to their child's case. I feel that if your child is missing, unless you have so many media offers coming in that you need to decline some, you should take what you can get.

That's what I'm trying to say. This offer is a one time deal and in a year from now there will be no offers :( We will not be here talking about Dylan. Local media will not be reporting about Dylan. It's now or never.

Dr. Phil has millions of viewers. If by any chance whatsoever Dylan is out there somewhere, it can only help for that many people to see Dylan's beautiful face! IMO

If Dylan is alive and out there somewhere, he is not being seen by anyone except perhaps the person who is holding him captive. I don't believe he is out there parading around in public for anyone to spot him. Elizabeth Smart was taken out in public, but she had a burqha (sp?) concealing everything but her eyes. I kind of don't think that would work for a young boy.

I have not read FB as it pertains to Dr. Phil, but I am wondering how is it being presented or discussed. Is it another challenge to MR to come on the show and answer questions, walk the walk, or is it a genuine offer to MR as father of missing Dylan. What is the attitude if you know. thanks.

I would say that it would depend on the company. Some can be pretty cutthroat and heartless about things. Another thing to consider is that a lot of companies are running extremely lean in the number of employee's that they maintain and someone missing work at a crucial time can be a very big deal. MOO.

Few companies would risk the bad PR of denying the father of a missing son a chance to go and plea for his son's return on national TV. IMO.

Unfortunately, and it's probably worse these days because of the number of people out of work. I know one of my neighbors had never missed a day of work until he had a severe asthma attack. He called work from the hospital once he knew they were going to make him stay. He was released on a Friday after a lot of treatment/meds and called to let them know he'd be able to go back to work on Monday, and was told that he no longer had a job. He was fired for excessive absenteeism.

He could work for one of those few. Sometimes companies do things that garner a lot of negative publicity but they don't figure out why until after the fact. MOO.

I think it also depends on how much time he already took off during this whole thing. I'm not aware of just how long each parent stayed out of work after Dylan went missing. It depends on the employment's tolerance level with this.

Wouldn't MR be covered under the family leave act? I tried to see if it covered missing family, but couldn't find anything specific.

maybe b.c the family refused to meet with a mediator this is retaliation - not to agree to go on Dr Phil?
or is he waiting to be offered a big sum of money for his side of the story. could that be the plan all along?

that's freaking illegal and he has recourse.

Didn't he also miss a few days when Dylan went missing? It appeared he had Thanksgiving week off, but I don't remember seeing anywhere anything about other time off or how long it was before he went back to work. So.... maybe things got behind a bit and they need to catch up?

I don't know. I agree that the company would probably be willing and it may just be a matter of timing or something, like you are saying.

The family refused to go to a mediator with him??

I must have missed something about MR saying that money or his job was causing a conflict with being on the show. Where did MR state this?

Also, since there are others assisting with this case, I'm sure that word could have gotten to MR without posting it on a FB page.

I can't take anything posted there for anything more than rumor, because I don't know where it originated or if there is truth to it or if the truth has been twisted. I also have no idea who is hiding behind the keyboard posting these statements.

All I know, is a statements were made on a FB page and people took them as fact and started with the mob mentality again. Legs grew.

Is the situation not bad enough. Why the need for making assumptions and putting words in someones mouth. It only gets drama started. I have no idea what is meant to be accomplished by these actions, other than keeping the drama going so people will stay focused on the page.

I also don't understand after repeatedly seeing contradictions on these pages and finding out that not all things stated end up being fact, others still so easily run with everything they read as being truth.

Because it was done on a public FB page???

So? MR publicly makes his excuses, so ER is publicly giving him a solution. I don't see anything wrong with that. JMO

I could go into more detail why I think that a lot of companies are trying to get by with far fewer people than in the past but it would belong in the political pavilion and not here.

I can imagine some managers being under so much pressure from higher ups to get the job done no matter what or their fired, that things like you described are happening. MOO.

It is my opinion that ER's main motive is not regarding Dylan with respect to going on to the Dr. Phil show.

I know it, am sure LE knows it, and I hope MR does not appear on it.

her main motive may be exposing MR, but, IMO, that is about finding Dylan.

It's really very simple, schedule the show on the days MR said he COULD do it. That is what I call realistic. Then see what happens. If he doesn't follow through at that point then I might fall off this fence but for me it's a simple solution to all this.
