I think they all mean the same thing. Answers are going to be different depending on the way questions are worded. The reporters may also have reworded or shortened his statements. In the more detailed interviews, where he is on camera, I think his words may be choppy because he is nervous. I used to get like this and have trouble getting my words out and stumble if I had to speak in front of others. I don't really think MR would have any camera experience. As far as the statement about him helping him, I think he is referring to trying to help him wake up.
I think they are very different descriptions. In early versions, he is just making noise in the kitchen, but his son was out like a light, so he just left for his errands.
There was NO mention of him 'nudging Dylan awake' and discussing anything with him. There was no mention of Dylan 'understanding' that his dad was coming back to give him a ride. Those are all in the later versions. Those seem like very different scenarios, imo.
