See, I interpreted MR's bolded comment as meaning that Dylan didn't necessarily go into MR's room to specifically use his cell, but did go up to fetch the dvd player. Again, I'm surprised to see someone point this out as being an inconsistency.
I feel we are all, probably unconsciously looking for different things in what we read, watch or hear. I admit I tend to notice lots of things that make me breath a little sigh of relief because they fit with my (ever hopeful) feeling that MR isn't responsible for whatever happened to Dylan. I have been totally repulsed by the amount of venom directed MR's way without actual evidence. If LE had found anything like a broken phone, a blood stain in a truck, the backpack stashed in the woods - then I would be suspicious of MR if he had tried to explain these things away. But that just isn't the case so far.
Also, though I don't believe the landline question is really that important -is ER really the best source to confirm MR has one? I really don't believe she has been dishonest -but how would she know if MR has one or not? I know lots of people who have forgone their home landlines in the past years because cell phone packages have become more attractive and economical. IDK - maybe she has his landline number and has used it to communicate with him in the recent past, in which case I stand corrected.
