If, (and I don't believe he did), he went to hitchhike, he would have to of been walking in 25 - 30 degree weather in shorts, carrying a backpack, and fishing pole (if there really is one). He would be taking a huge risk that anyone would 1) stop to give him a ride (i do not belive many people pick up hutchhikers any more, even if they are kids kids) 2) that there would even be anyone driving in the direction he was going.
I also think someone would have remembered seeing him walking. Someone walking their dog or cleaning up the yard, or looking out the window while drinking coffee.
If, (and I don't believe he did this either), he went to the campground, he would once again been in shorts with a backpack and a fishing pole. I can't believe he would just sit in the cold at a campground to waste time.
Dylan is more of a "hang with his friends and family" type of kid. He was so excited to see his friends that he wanted to go over right after the flight. When he was told no, plans were changed to 6:30am the next day. He is an avid texter and I believe he would have tried to text, his friends and if the celk didnt work for whatever reason then i belive he would have used his iPod, tried the computer, or used the phone to get ahold of someone.
This is my opinion of things.
