I did not see a game console in the living there at MR's and he said Dylan had to get the DVD player to watch movies. PS3, Xbox, and Wii consoles all have the ability to play DVDs so I feel this confirms that there was not a console in the living room. IMO. I would believe that MR knew Dylan did not have games because there was nothing there to play games on. IMO.

I think I read something but now can't find it that suggests the SAR team out of Ruidoso trains with Wendy's team often, so it may be a familiarity issue.

I am 100% certain there are SAR and HRD teams in Colorado that are trained in snow. But Wendy volunteered and that's a good thing. It may be that MR and ER did not know how to go about getting assistance. They don't seem to be working with larger assistance groups like Mark Klaas that could help them with finding resources. IMO

Wonder how the search went today?? Hopefully with feet and noses on the ground, they'll come up with something that will lead in one direction or the other.

All I really want is for Dylan to be found alive. That's all I care about.

As a possibility, I'm going with Dylan possibly complaining that he had no games or anything with him or he dumped his backpack out looking for a game and discovered he'd forgotten to pack his DS/Gameboy/PSwhatever and/or games. While my son was considerably younger than this when he decided to pack his own "entertainment bag" for a trip, he had a charger and games, but no ds. (fortunately, his sister packed hers, and they shared). Just throwing out a possibility. This is why I sit on the fence all the time....

BBM: When my grandkids were hear at Thanksgiving, one of the 3 forgot their DS. My son made mention that the next time, the one who forgot it will plan better because it was up to him to make sure he took the games he wanted with him. So yeh, parents leave it up to kids to pack their own entertainment bags.

IIRC, the original dogs came from NM because they were the closest available (State or County dogs).

Now that the LE is not actively searching, those SAR groups can't get involved (they must be called by LE). So, it then goes to your orgs like Klaas, TES, LRC, etc (who generally want to work with LE and have their blessing) and then from there goes down to the rest of the people with dogs out there.

The original dogs were from La Plata County (Colorado) SAR:

Dylan Redwine of Colorado Springs went missing between 7:30 and 11:30 a.m. from the 2300 block of County Road 500, just north of Vallecito Reservoir.

La Plata County Search and Rescue members searched for Redwine Monday night in areas of County Road 500. Residents who have expressed an interest in assisting are being asked to search their properties and areas of Vallecito they are familiar with, Bender said.

DIVE Team came from NM.

For some reason I thought there were dogs that came in from NM too? It's been awhile though, so I could totally be getting things confused. I remember the first ones being from the County, but I thought they brought in more?

Well, you know how I feel about trails that are 3 months old, so.... The only way you're gonna find a trail for an alive Dylan is if you pick up a fresh live scent and he's just been hiding out all this time.

Nope. First dogs (and only for a long time) were local LPSAR. Around Christmas time, a bloodhound from NM was brought to La Plata County to search around Vallecito Reservoir.

Have you ever visually spotted potential evidence yourself while working your dogs?

Thank you. And that is exactly what I meant. Why is anyone getting all wrapped up about what a small bunch of people are saying or how they are behaving on a FB site? Don't like it? Don't read it! If you want to read it for the small bits of information provided, scroll and roll past the BS until you see if there is anything newsworthy and don't worry about the rest of it! If you don't like Dr. Phil and you think it will be a MR bash session, don't watch it! If your opinion is swayed by those who know relatively nothing, then I really don't know what to say!

They may be a small bunch of people, but they represent a high % of people who are actively discussing the case online. The official page might have 11k likes, but it's a very small number who are actually commenting/discussing everything. I don't see anything wrong people expressing their disapproval of the pages. Even friends of the family are posting on the non-official FB pages. With the social media, these things are a part of cases now. Some people here commented that they talked to people in the "real world" who are turned off by the drama...are they turned off because they feel there is a lynch mob mentality? If you are just an ordinary person, and you read an article about Dylan, and then the comments are all about how Dad is hiding him, and he better pay, etc etc, you might just think: "What a dysfunctional family..."

It would be really difficult to follow cases on here if one had the attitude of "If I don't like it, I won't watch it".

I don't really care what anyone discusses on here or anywhere else. I just get a bit fed up with all the arguing and the "contest" like atmosphere. But I'm not much of a whiner, so I admit I really don't get involved in all that. I find information anywhere and everywhere I can. I sort through the garbage and manipulation efforts and don't see much point in worrying about what anyone else is saying. Just like the old Dragnet show, "Just the facts, mam', LOL

And I gave up concerning myself with the custodial issues this case has presented. It started long before the FB pages and it is what it is. Nothing we can do about that. I also don't think this kid is being "hidden" by anyone and never did, so I haven't agreed with how this case was presented to the public to begin with. Not my call, though. We can only do what we can do....and this isn't the first case to involve family drama...although I personally believe more damage was done due to the "hidden" child thing as opposed to a possible homicide or a possible child abduction. But I'm not in charge, lol.

Oh yeah. It kind of just goes with the territory. Course you also run across stuff that could be but isn't.

Ok, so why all the talk about nobody local being a part? So confused.

My fault. I was wondering why these groups searching now are from NM and that perhaps no independent groups from CO reached out. But never mind...

Ahhh, I'm with you now.

My guess, and only that...
The county teams have already done what they can. With no new info. there is nothing new for them to do.

I couldn't find much info at all about White Mountain SAR. The website doesn't mention much about the dogs or indicate that they search for HR.

http://whitemountainsar.org/

White Mountain Search & Rescue (WMSAR) is a volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation of life by providing a search and rescue team capable of managing and effecting search and rescue operations. We respond to search and rescue of lost hunters, hikers, and persons who have wandered away from homes or rest homes.

Beats me.

ETA: can you lead me to where you read that? Locals were all over this case from the get-go.

Don't know why, but I'm still leaning towards the scenario that DR left the house that morning, took all of his things because he was planning on spending the night with friends for a day or so, and was either picked up by someone or chose a shortcut where he found danger (slip and fall, etc.). The latter is where I am right now, though the alleged Hispanic man does give me pause. If I were in charge of the dogs, I would be looking off the beaten path of known shortcuts between MRs home and Bayfield. My understanding right now is that the only places that have been searched or are being searched are by the roads.

His phone was probably dead but not broken from falling asleep on the couch the night before, and since he was likely in a hurry because he was late, he figured he would charge it when he got to where he was going. Not unusual at all. He's a thirteen (now fourteen) year old kid. He doesn't think or prepare the same way adults do. We see this all the time with adolescents.
