JMO, but "hitching" a ride in town with a group of your buddies in a snowstorm isn't even close to "hitchhiking" while alone and attempting to go some 20 miles.

The boys never even specified if they actually GOT a ride and/or if they did get a ride, if it was someone they all knew....like a neighbor/mom/teacher/etc.

None of this indicates Dylan was in the habit of hitchhiking in the typical sense of the word. It could just as easily been a situation when he was showing off and stuck out his thumb and someone who knew them gave them a ride. Boys will be boys....and they are known to exaggerate. Often.

Ok, it was still stated on the 24th that Dylan was known to hitchhike by his friends. It was much later when "pressed" that it came out that it was supposedly only one time and it was with a group of friends in a snow storm, <modsnip>. MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Dr. Phil didn't ask if he wanted the focus on him, he asked WHY he thought the focus was just on him. It was a 40 second snip. I'm sure he'll answer in the show.

BBM

Dr. Phil asked him:

why do you think the police are continuing to investigate you?

Mark: I don't think the focus is just looking at me

He never answered - Mark said something in the uncut interview with 9news about being okay with LE looking/focusing on him....

So, the Dr. Phil show is his trial? I thought he'd already been tried AND convicted. Dr. Phil IS the shiz. He makes people reappear and he tries people.

I said....and gave an example

It's like he cleaned up for his trial. You know when you see a mug shot or initial court appearance for someone in the orange jumpsuit...then at trial they come in all clean shaven and new clothes?

JMO

respectfully snipped

I'm sure Dr. Phil spoke with LE before he did the show and asked if Mark was still being investigated or he wouldn't have asked the question....

According to a June 2012 article I found, AMW was bringing in around 873,000 viewers on Lifetime. Dr. Phil averages around 4 million viewers.

Just trying to be positive.

In theory, he could have hitchiked even if he wasn't in the habit of doing it before. Even I did a few times as a teenager, even though I was always very cautious. But why wasn't he using his cell phone that morning? Or any other means of communication? That was out of character. Unless that can be satisfactory explained, I do not believe he was abducted by some stranger.

What are the latest facts in Dylan's case?

That's all well and good, but when people say MR grasped onto the notion Dylan hitchhiked, the story of the one time came out much later.

What difference does that make? It came out. That is all that matters. Clarification is good, no matter when it happens. It is one of the few things we've gotten any clarification about, so for that alone, I'm grateful. I just wish MR would clarify some of his many statements.

“We asked (residents) about any sheds or barns where he could take shelter,” F said.

The boys said Dylan wasn’t shy about hitching rides.

“Honestly, I think he was walking into Bayfield and got taken away,” he said.

W agreed.

“I don’t think he’s one to run away,” he said.

The only thing in that exchange that is not a quote attributed directly to one of the boys is the bolded part about hitching rides. They may have relayed the library story to the reporter and the reporter may have taken liberties with that story and reported it that way. But there is no direct quote from any of the boys saying that Dylan was not shy about hitching rides.

Well, of course! In theory, "ANYTHING" is possible. Likely? Not so much. But yes, I agree with the communication issue being another BIG problem. Probably one of the biggest problems for a defense lawyer to overcome. :rocker:

I figured law enforcement or even the FBI may have had someone present in the audience to see it all first-hand.

Just like in the unedited interview, MR stated Dylan didn't know a STRANGER ?

That was another red flag that strongly suggested MR was attempting to make Dylan seem like a friendly young teen boy that would interact with total strangers.

There's a difference with a young teen talking to others around his age, and Dylan talking with total grown up strangers, I haven't read any articles of Dylan interacting with adult Strangers. i remember one of Dylan's friends stating Dylan came up to him and wanted to be friends.

And if Dylan would have talked to adult strangers, Then why would the Father ever allowed it to happen, MR has taken every opportunity to misdirect any suspicion off himself and direct it at others.

I do believe most of us know this, but just to clarify for the newcomers, there was an initial statement from Dylan's friends when they referred to the possibility (ie, speculating as boys do) of Dylan hitching a ride, but there was a later video when the boys were pressed about this subject and they stated Dylan "hitched" one time when they were all in a group, caught in a snowstorm. They were also in Bayfield looking for a ride home from the library. Nothing was ever reported that Dylan was a habitual hitchhiker or that this was an activity that he routinely participated in.

I said:

It makes a huge difference. In the first quote, newcomers are told FYI the friends said he was known to hitch but that's not what they meant. MR latched onto that when it was really only one time.

MR latched onto that because his son was missing and that's what his friends said. It wasn't until much later that said friends stated it was only one time.

Surely you can see the difference.

It's a 40 second promo. We don't know if he answered the question or not.

On the promo I saw, he gave an answer but no he didn't seem to answer the question.

Guess we will know once the show airs.

Even when I'm being positive it happens.

:waitasec:

Was just giving the information that Dr. Phil is the #1 talk show.

Do people in other states have "figure of speech" phrases? To say someone never met a stranger is a very common figure of speech used for a friendly person. It's not literal.

On the promo I saw, he gave an answer but no he didn't seem to answer the question.

I'll be curious to see the show. It looked pieced together to me, much like other "reality" shows. I'd like to see how it flows. I'm pretty certain they don't show the whole taping, so there's obvious some editing going on.

just on the hitch hiking, have we heard from anyone else that Dylan was ever known to hitch?

Ithink if he had 'been known to hitch' that some locals would have seen him do so and would have reported it.

I wonder if there are any texts about Dylan and hitch hiking
