I figured law enforcement or even the FBI may have had someone present in the audience to see it all first-hand.

I am have little doubt the FBI had at least one person (inconspicuous) in the audience maybe that specialized in body language for instance. Although I believe they will want every scrap of tape, I doubt they would count on a camera being on him at all times. JMO & I am totally speculating of course.

Do people in other states have "figure of speech" phrases? To say someone never met a stranger is a very common figure of speech used for a friendly person. It's not literal.

I'll be curious to see the show. It looked pieced together to me, much like other "reality" shows. I'd like to see how it flows. I'm pretty certain they don't show the whole taping, so there's obvious some editing going on.

BBM: I'm pretty sure Dr. Phil isn't considered a "reality" show. It's usually referred to as a talk show.

Snip

It's a 40 second promo. We don't know if he answered the question or not.

Makes me think of the teaser they had for the interview with MB. She asks ER if she had anything to do with DR's disappearance and ER really seems like a deer in the headlights. It jolted me when I saw the teaser. Then when the entire interview aired, it was nothing like that. Producers really know how to get viewers, it's their job.

When did the interview with the boys clarifying the library story come out?

Just like in the unedited interview, MR stated Dylan didn't know a STRANGER ?

That was another red flag that strongly suggested MR was attempting to make Dylan seem like a friendly young teen boy that would interact with total strangers.

There's a difference with a young teen talking to others around his age, and Dylan talking with total grown up strangers, I haven't read any articles of Dylan interacting with adult Strangers. i remember one of Dylan's friends stating Dylan came up to him and wanted to be friends.

And if Dylan would have talked to adult strangers, Then why would the Father ever allowed it to happen, MR has taken every opportunity to misdirect any suspicion off himself and direct it at others.

My son never knew a stranger. Everyone was a friend to him he just hadn't met yet. He is very outgoing and sociable. We belonged to a lot of youth groups with our kids and there were a lot of adults involved in them. Everyone loved my son. He had a way of being able to talk to an adult maturely and discussed interesting things.

This is what I thought of when Mark said that about Dylan. Just really outgoing and friendly with everyone, thinking everyone was a friend he hadn't met yet and that no one would ever harm him.

IMO, this case is a mess.
If MR is innocent, the chance of a resolution seem so tiny...

Not that I'm trying to speak for anyone else, but IMO, I believe the poster was referring to how easily it would be for a potential POI to provide descriptive phrases, ideas, theories to influence public opinion and deflect suspicion away from the facts of the matter.

just on the hitch hiking, have we heard from anyone else that Dylan was ever known to hitch?

Ithink if he had 'been known to hitch' that some locals would have seen him do so and would have reported it.

I wonder if there are any texts about Dylan and hitch hiking

Well I'm pretty sure that Dylan never attempted to hitch hike from Vallecito to Bayfield before or MR would have known about it.

I agree that you'd think someone local might have come forward if they've seen him standing around at the side of the road hitching before.

It does seem odd that Dylan would choose the first day he showed back up in town after moving, to sleep in and miss his ride, and then decide to hitch hike 20 miles into town alone for the first time, in 40 degree temperatures in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt carrying a fishing pole and everything he had brought with him for a week's stay. Especially since he knew the area so well and knew he was standing on a dead end road trying to catch a ride. And that he had a ride coming to pick him up at 11am.

Just defies logic to me.

Dylan's friends in Bayfield told The Durango Herald that Dylan was supposed to meet them Sunday night but changed that to Monday morning. They told the newspaper they think Dylan hitchhiked to meet them and then was abducted.
7 News, November 25

In hindsight, Mark wonders whether Dylan became impatient and hitchhiked. "I can't quite wrap my mind around that yet," he said.
Denver Post Dec 2

Similarly, while some of Dylan's Bayfield friends suggested he might hitchhike down from Vallecito to Bayfield for a scheduled visit with them, Elaine Redwine said she and Dylan had talked about being safe, including not hitchhiking.
Durango Herald Dec 3

They stayed up late during sleepovers when Dylan was always the hyper one and played hide-and-go-seek for hours after dark. One time during a snowstorm, Dylan was the one to stick out his thumb and hitch the boys a ride home from the library.
Durango Herald Dec 15

Dylan's friends say that he had hitchhiked into town before, but no one remembers seeing Dylan along the one county road leaving Vallecito Lake.
9 News Jan 3

Just a few mentions of hitchhiking gathered via google, and I know we have seen them all before. FWIW when his friends are remembering One time during a snowstorm, Dylan was the one to stick out his thumb and hitch I interpret that as being completely different to saying something like ... I can remember only one time when Dylan hitched. To me they are just giving one anecdote about a particularly memorable time when they were all caught in a storm.
I have seen others here posting that the boys have said it was the only time, but I can't find that - could someone link me up if that is indeed true? TIA

I'm pretty sure Dr. Phil isn't considered anything. Is reality not supposed to be real? :waitasec:

Television shows are defined by genre'. Dr. Phil is not a reality show in any sense of the word. Completely different format.

Dr. Phil is a talk show hosted by Phil McGraw. After McGraw's success with his segments on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Dr. Phil debuted on September 16, 2002. On both shows McGraw offers advice in the form of "life strategies" from his life experience as a clinical psychologist.

The show is in syndication throughout the United States and a number of other countries. Its tenth season premiered on September 12, 2011. The show is to be renewed through 2014, or twelve seasons. Occasional prime time specials have aired on CBS. The program has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award every year since 2004.

It wasn't his first visit since moving; it was the first visit since the custody hearing. He had seen MR at least 2 other times since moving.

Yeah, also dad was blamed for allowing Dylan to speak with strangers. But let's not forget dad only saw Dylan a handful of times.

Interesting that the above article was the 24th & on the 25th MR says:

Information he received from the boy's friends suggests that Dylan was hitchhiking when he disappeared, Redwine said.

"It sounds to me like he's not even in the area," he said.
He said he is concerned that a stranger could have picked up the teen and abducted him.

Was he? I never saw that? Got a link? That would be interesting. I've never seen him accused on this forum. Very interesting.

I was responding to someone who said MR allowed Dylan to talk to strangers. No link required.

Some questions I wish were asked on Dr. Phil:

Did Mark try to contact Dylan by landline when he failed to get a response to his texts Monday morning?

Is the fishing rod missing and not overlooked or misplaced?

Was Dylan awake and responsive to MR when he left Monday morning or "out like a light?"

Was there anyone at home when MR went to the home of Dylan's Vallecito friend?

Were dogs used inside the home? outstide? What type of dog? When?

If true that an ipod was taken in the search warrant, to whom did it belong?

Has MR's PI shared any further information in the way of description or details about the Hispanic man looking for a rental?

Were there clothes left behind on the sofa or was nothing of Dylan's left behind?

All MOO
