Interesting article, I couldn't find enough information on the studies, there just isn't time. These quotes from the article stuck out at me:

I read that too. IIRC the same person spoke about living within a mile of MR, and also said that no LE has ever door knocked at their home regarding Dylan. Seems very strange if that is really the case.

We just had one of the most intense manhunts in Southern California history for Christopher Dorner. He was targeting LE so they had a higher stake in the outcome of the search. Even with that, when he was found, it turned out he had been hiding in a cabin 100 yards from the police Command Center for the search. He could look out the window and see what they were doing while they hunted for him. Their idea of going door to door was to knock on a door and if no one answered, move on. Chris Dorner was in that cabin, he just didn't answer the door when they came calling. Point is, they totally missed him and this was a guy who was trying to kill them and had killed 3 other people at that point. He got a 4th one later.

I keep reading here at WS that Dylan would have needed to walk 20 miles to see his friend. I'm confused because the timeline on FMDR implies that the friend in reference lives 5.9 miles from Mark's house, not 20 miles.

Where is the 20 miles coming from?

I walked 3 miles to school every day, it took me an hour. 5.9 miles is doable to someone with a purpose who wanted to get somewhere. Not out of the realm of possibility at all. IMO

LE doesn't believe Dylan wandered off and became lost in the wild.

Yet in the sane article they say they are still looking at all other possibilities (besides criminal). Or at least that is how it reads.

Well, considering he wasn't expected in Vallecito, but was expected in Bayfield, I don't see your point. Even if he "walked" to Vallecito, it would have taken him about 2 hours. I'm pretty sure he knew this prior to setting out on such a journey and I'm pretty sure he knew there was no guarantee he would get a ride. I'm also pretty sure he was smart enough to call someone prior to undertaking such an adventure and that he knew how to use a land line, a computer and his ipod. I'm also pretty sure he knew how to tell time and that his father would be home before he ever could reach his friend's house....the one that wasn't home anyway. But just my opinion.

I wonder what percent of father "revenge" killings end up being murder suicides. I guess this is where my mind was going when I previously brought up my concerns of MR.

I also find it odd (FB talk so should be considered rumor) that a neighbor is posting that she is driving by MR's house with kids in car, taking pictures and reporting back to the group. I personally wouldn't want to do that if I thought someone was a cold blooded killer.

As far as MR being on the search yesterday. If I was a dog handler I would not want anyone around that may potentially distract the dogs. I was a bit upset, when I say people begging her for information while she was trying to do her job, in those elements, from the kindness of her heart.

I think what was meant was that Dorner was hiding right under the noses of hundreds or maybe THOUSANDS of very skilled LE looking in every nook and cranny for him and still he was not found for quite some time. I think it means Dylan could be scores of places undetected and searchers and dogs , even, might be going right by him, over him, around him and still not find him .

I, for one, don't consider MR to be a "cold-blooded" killer. I doubt that most of those who are suspicious of him think that either.

A father who murders his child(ren) stemming from a revenge motive isn't necessarily a cold blooded killer. His MO is revenge.

IMO, I also don't see MR as being suicidal unless and perhaps if he thinks he is about to be arrested...and even then I have my doubts. The personality type I suspect MR to have is very self absorbed. Self absorbed people are all about themselves.

As far as the search group, I'm fairly confident the handler is used to people begging for information. It's part of the program when you are in that field. What I found interesting is that MH was obviously part of the search. Says a lot about his character and concern about Dylan, IMO.

Ahhh, for a brief moment in time he wasn't detected. But he wasn't running around undetected for 3 months.
