It is amazing ER and AzGrandma have their sanity.

It takes time. Anyone who has been around an individual with those behavior characteristics ends up in a position where they have to be away from that for quite a period of time in order to adapt to "normal" once again. Both ER and AZ have been out of MR's life for quite a while now. Not something you ever forget, but something that takes a while to recognize. :moo:

It probably has a lot to do with why neither one of them wants any contact with MR. The man is exhausting. That type is emotionally and psychically draining...as evidenced by even Dr. Phil and JT, the poly guy. They used those exact words because they are an apt description of how one feels after interacting with an individual like MR.

Apparently Bender feels that the previous search of the lake by divers and sonar has proven the HRD dogs are wrong.

LE guesses or knows that the pole was planted by MR because MR had been pointing out about the fishing pole being missing and so LE figures he's trying to build an alibi. But they tell everyone it's not Dylan's because they figure it will force MR to divulge more because MR will think his alibi building plan isn't working?

I hadn't thought much of the fishing pole before, but it would be very coincidental to me that they found a fishing pole that just happened to belong to someone else after MR had mentioned the possibility of Dylan having a pole.

Is it possible LE has known all this time but knew they couldn't get into the water until spring? IDK, that would seem unusually cruel to put the family through, plus would LE waste all the resources they have since they first went into the water putting on a facade of going on searches and manning phone lines?

The only reason I can think of would be if it is more dangerous to retrieve it right now than it would be later, when weather conditions are better. How windy is it there? Would there be a danger shifting ice? Doesn't the water temperature have something to do with how deep the body will be in the lake? I think bodies float better when it is warmer. We need an expert!

Definitely. I don't think it's impossible, just that it's coincidental. But then again, it's a lake where there's probably lots of people passing through, so there's bound to be lots of things discarded there, including old fishing poles.

IDK, my post that coldhands had referenced was just me throwing things out there, not definite ideas or anything.

Not an expert, but an object's ability to float is based on the relative densities of the object and the liquid it is floated in. I would imagine temperature could affect the densities?

Doesn't matter, they can't arrest him for failing a polygraph!!! That's just not enough to get an arrest warrant, I'm sorry but that's fact. If that was all LE was waiting on, they could have arrested him back in the beginning.

Even if he had failed it, he would STILL not have looked as bad as he did by refusing it. Those polygraphs are not going to clear him, nor send him to jail, I don't care what anybody tells you. Yes, LE will say they will help clear their name, but that is just to get them to cooperate. They can still investigate a person even if they passed a poly. The poly alone does not always advance a case one way or the other. I know this, my son has dealt with a lot of cases and this is what he told me. He ran the CID (Criminal Investigation) here for over 10 years, he knows what he is talking about!

Can I ask how you think he did it and where? I assume Sunday night before he got to the house?

I am not picking at your theory, I'm just trying to paint a picture in my mind.

He picks up Dylan, goes to Walmart and McDonald's then....?

Because he was going to say 6 30 or possibly 5 30 but bungled it he dosnt think before he speaks and once he said 7 30 he had to stick with it.

Im not talking about arresting him
Im talking about ruleing him out

We all know a poly cant be used in court

but it could make him look alot better if he passed it.
by nt taking it he sure looks guilty!

I do not think any of this is far fetched at all. And honestly with the depth of the lake and the altitude and the fact that it is frozen on top of that they may have figured the risks to the divers is too high. I wish I knew more about this. They absolutely are not going to risk someone's life to recovery a body when they can wait it out until spring.

I too am wondering if they've known where Dylan is all along and have known who done it, but are just waiting until spring and hoping in the meantime they gather more evidence to be able to make an arrest. It sure might explain their silence.

Didn't someone say something about when the gasses take over the body it will float? Obviously this would be before a lake freezes. What if he is down there but stuck on something? Or perhaps weighted down? There was a reason for the flyovers over the lake and the boaters on the lake even after the divers went in.
