BUT - WHERE IS DYLAN?

I don't think that Dylan was 'troubled.'

JMO - I don't think he was especially troubled given the circumstances but I think he had to have been "troubled" at some level. He's 13... which all by itself can count as "troubled" for many I think. He's lived through what seems to have been a pretty contentious divorce, his parents can't even speak to each other, and he recently moved quite a distance from his original home (which is stressful even when it's a positive thing). Growing up it seems his relationship with his Dad was kind of hit and miss in terms of amount of time spent with him. I know there's some question about how close they were or weren't but I think it's pretty well established that they didn't spend a lot of time together since MR's out of town for work fairly often.

I know definitions of "troubled" vary but he had a lot of stressors in his life, especially during his growing up years, IMO.

Blurry just came on the sirius radio station I'm listening to.
Remembered it was Dylan's fav song (which I thought was weird because it's a little older). Made me think of him... even tho I stopped reading these threads after the 3rd or 4th, I still think about him. Such strange circumstances.

I don't know. Let's ask the last person who LE says saw him. :moo:

Question about the interview- IF Mark Redwine is involved, what do you make of him saying Dylan's not close to his house? Is this because if he's involved 1) he knows where Dylan is and it's not near his home or 2) he's trying to get searchers away from his home because Dylan is there?
Which one would be more important- A) being right about where Dylan is/is not or B) trying to divert everyone's attention away from where Dylan actually is?

We might think B would be the logical answer. But then I think of this:
- Casey Anthony telling her parents in a jail visit video that Caylee was "close to home," when in fact her remains were right down the street from her home. It would have made more sense for her to try to divert attention away from her home. If someone commits a crime like Caylee's murder, however, they are hardly doing what makes sense.
- Shaun Adkins, the POI in Hailey Dunn's disappearance telling LE (I believe in a lie detector test) that Hailey was in Scurry County. That's indeed the county where she was found. It's also an area LE knew Shaun was very familiar with because he had a family member who lived there, very close to where the remains were found. He also went to that family member's home the day Hailey disappeared. Again, wouldn't it have made more sense for him to try to draw inverstigators' attentions away from that area? But he didn't.

So IF Mark is responsible for Dylan going missing, with the above thoughts in mind, do you think that means Dylan is not close to his home or is close to his home? IF Mark is responsible, is he telling the truth about where Dylan is even though that doesn't "make sense" or is he trying to divert attention away from where Dylan is? I hope all my rambling makes sense here. I guess what I'm trying to say is that sometimes perps will obfuscate but sometimes they'll drop tidbits of truth into their stories.

Okay - let's drop the talk about Dylan being troubled, please. We have no facts to indicate such - not from his friends or his parents or LE.

Yes - all teens have their crosses to bear and even so, most teens are fairly happy and well-adjusted. Dylan, from everything we know about him, appears to be a happy, well adjusted teenager, with solid friends and a family that loves him and misses him.

So... let's stop talking about his being troubled.

Thanks,

Salem

Quite possible.

One scenario I had considered was that Dylan and MR were already having a difficult time of it by the time they entered Walmart. As they came to the place where cell phone picked up again, MR lost it and heaved the backpack into the lake. There could have been a struggle for the back pack or after it was heaved. Dylan was hurt, MR ignored that. Dylan made it to MR's house but didn't make it through the night. MR, unable to accept any kind of responsibility for anything, proceeded with a cover-up attempt.

So we are sort of are on the same wave length. Only I have it in reverse order. (Back pack in the lake and MR having transported Dylan somewhere or hidden him on the property.) But I have never really thought of MR transporting Dylan or evidence out of the area on his work travels. Very interesting thought.

And my theory (if it was not something pre-planned) is similar to yours. On the way there, they pull over in a park by a lake. (or an open area by a lake) to "throw a football around". (or just because the driver is mad)

The driver grabs the phone and tosses it into the lake. Dylan, not thinking correctly, jumps in after it (maybe with his backpack on?) his clothing (and maybe the backpack) drag him down, and the driver is either too scared or intoxicated and does not jump in after him. The rest of the night is spent pacing, trying to figure out what to do.

I hate that it seems like a competition over ER and MR. I don't think either had anything to do with this crime against Dylan. I do think that Dylan left his father's house under his own power and

1) met someone he knew- planned or unplanned
2) met someone he didn't know - that would be unplanned
or
3) met with an accident alone- least likely of the scenarios.

It's hard to discuss some of these options because we don't have enough information and the fall back is to talk about MR which leads to talk about ER...and off the track of Dylan we go.....

I personally think that anyone who sticks with the "facts" and doesn't consider all the personal opinions of others will come to the same conclusion as AlwaysShocked.
I just want to go on record as saying I disagree. Respectfully, as always.

MR is only recently directing attention away from his house. On Nov. 25th, he said ""I question why it has taken this long to start scouring the lake because from Day One they have known it is likely he had a fishing pole with him."

Scouring the lake is exactly how Dylan will be found, IMO.

I wonder too about transient or touristy RSO's....how would they even go about identifying someone like that?

Another thought, do all the campgrounds in the area require ID to check in. In other words, how easy would it be for a cash paying customer to lie about their identity?

Good question. Where IS Dylan? We had a list of possibilities once.

Those are really good questions. I wish I knew. I used to think we would find Dylan in the lake, because MR kept harping on the fishing pole. But there have been a lot of searches there already. But I don't know if anyone can really 'clear' it yet though. It is a big lake and there are tributories and places things could get hidden or caught up. So who knows. :rose:

I recently rented a beachside campground in Malibu state park for my DD's birthday weekend. I had to show my Drivers license and another form of ID as well. I don't know if that is only California or not though.

eta: And i was paying cash.

eta2: AND they wrote down my license plate number.

AlwaysShocked said that they were new to the case. Thus they are not aware of the inconsistencies in MR's past version of the stories. Nor are they aware of the reasons that ER might be a tad bitter at this time. I will be curious to see if they have the same comments after they read more about the events surrounding this case. JMO

I came to this case at after watching DP and well, I felt the same way this person did. Then I read everything I could find to see if I was missing anything, but I do still feel pretty much the same. So know all the facts, hasn't changed my initial opinion of the people in surrounding this case.

I have been to quite a few campground, tent camping, RV camping and even cabin rentals, but I don't recall having to show my ID. Wait, on the cabin rental it was required because it was on a military discount so military ID was needed.

They didn't even take down your license plate?

Here in Cali they always take down that info because of Forest Fires. They want to know exactly who left their campfire unattended if need be.
