I know of a situation like that--went on for a few weeks. A girl at my DD's middle school ran away. She had been fighting with her mom a lot and left a noter saying she was going to San Francisco to find her dad.

Turns out, she spent 2 weeks in her best friends bedroom. Her friend lived with a single dad, and he rarely barged into his daughters room. He was careful to always knock, and he worked long hours, so he never noticed LOL

But it is possible but not probable, if that makes sense.

That's what is so difficult about this case... there are many scenarios that are POSSIBLE. Yes, some are more probable than others... but probable doesn't equal fact (yet). For now, I guess we wait for LE to release more information or make an arrest.

Yes yes! And if he isn't found, MR will continue to owe child support to Elaine until he is found, or until he is declared legally dead, which might take 7 years?

I can see his hurry in getting them to that lake. And I wonder if he has asked his lawyer yet if he still has to pay if Dylan is missing. And I wonder if that was one of the questions he had for his lawyer Monday morning. :what:

I hadn't considered the child support angle. Anybody know if this would be the case?

Do we have an exact address for Dylans dads home ? The only thing I have found is the 2300 block of county road 500, which appears to be North of the lake quite a ways up the road. I would be under the impression that cell service is prob. bad there especially depending on what company you use

If one believes father's story, that seems like a most plausible theory to me.

I agree.

On the other hand, if one doesn't believe father's story passes the smell test (for whatever reason), and if one is a member of the Task Force investigating Dylan's disappearance, one might request a search warrant for a more detailed (i.e. forensic) search of the father's residence & vehicles.

I wonder if he had an actual appointment with his lawyer for Monday or just went there suddenly. I am sure LE knows, whatever the case.

I've wondered the same thing from day 1.

It is bad cell service, but there were comments on Topix from locals, who say that most people get a 'hotspot' router, which make it possible to text from inside their home. Calls are problematic, but if you are near a hotspot, you can still text.

Also mom and the older brother both seemed to believe that it was possible for Dylan to have texted, according to their various comments and according to comments left on the family FindDylan FB page.
But either way, it was in msm that Dad had a working landline. So Dylan could have used that Monday morning if he had no cell service, imo.

I totally understand what you are saying. His entire 'commercial' was like a PR strategy for his innocence. There was nothing there about what the nation could do to try and find his missing son. He didnt hold up a picture, describe the boy, and remind us of what he might have been wearing. He didnt ask the kidnappers to release him, or ask the truck drivers to be on the look out for a blonde, 5 ft tall scared kid. He told us all why he was a great father and why he
thought LE was so incompetent.

just bouncing off your post

Not standing up for this Dad or anything.. But.. Kaine Horman didn't even speak to the media for the first week or longer, then once Kaine did speak, he was thanking the media, made no direct message to the person who took him, Nothing like that. To top this off Kaine even attended the gym, and snubbed reporters.... He even told people not to talk to the media!!... Now Kaine had nothing to do with Kyron missing IMO.. So, how do we explain his actions? Kaine still believes "someone" has his son, yet, to this day, I have never heard him use any media time speaking directly to the "somebody" he thinks has Kyron...
I am using Kaine because he is the father of a missing child... Fathers and Mothers react differently..IMO

True, but Kaine didnt need to talk to the kidnappers by way of the media. Imo, he had a direct line of contact, if he wanted to speak to the perp.

<respectfully snipped>MR said in this interview that he flew him directly this time

One thing I did notice is it seemed he tried to specifically say that Dylan had returned safe and sound last time he was there, almost like a justification, hard to explain...

If MR had nothing to do with this, nobody can blame him for being defensive, right?

I am 99.9% sure it is. It would be great if one of our verified attorneys would weigh in on that for us.

The legal reasoning for continuing child support is that the custodial parent must continue to provide a home for the child so that when the child returns from "missing" status, the family home and support for the child is still in place. Otherwise, people might not be able to make mortgage payments, keep their car, pay private school fees if applicable, etc. The system of support for the child should continue in force until the child returns.

I'd like to hear more from Dylan's friends that he was supposed to meet. Dad lives where Dylan has lived most of his life, right? Or close-by? It seems to me that most of Dylan's friends who were interviewed said that they believe Dylan hitched and met with foul play, right? None of them mentioned Dylan fighting with his dad, or not wanting to visit his dad, or being afraid of Dylan's dad, or Dylan just wanting to stay with his mother. I would imagine that at least one of these friends that Dylan kept in contact with would mention something going on with Dylan or give us an insight into how DYLAN actually felt about the whole visitation/divorce situation <respectfully snipped>

It is possible that friends have weighed in on this to LE, as I'm sure LE would ask the friends these types of questions as standard procedure, and we do know that these friends have been interviewed...In other words, if the friends did say anything along these lines, I'm not sure that it would be public knowledge, due to protecting the integrity of the investigation, as well as protecting the security of a minor/witness.

LOL.. Yeah, but he believes Kyron was handed off and is alive somewhere...so he has to be with someone (in Kaines mind) yet, Kaine has never addressed this "someone".... Also, I noticed with Kaine, he never speaks to Kyron directly with his use of media either unless a reporter asks him if he wants to say something to Kyron ( very beginning of case) .. He just talks about what he is doing or what he is going to do.. Ie fundraisers..

I think we expect too much from the male species sometimes :D .. They just don't think like females do .. IMO

I've never been divorced or even had children, but I did not think that child support was to be used for things like mortgage? I thought it was for the child's clothes, food and health care, basically. Wouldn't the other things fall under alimony?

I agree, Margarita... there are so many details we just don't know.:twocents:

"And you know, if the process of what's going on with the authorities and the people handling this is to search my home, all they had to do was ask. I would have willingly let them come in."

This statement bothers me for a few reasons, mostly bc if he did not think a proper search was being conducted at the time, he should've voiced that, and demanded it, as I know would be. I would not be standing around waiting for them to "ask" to search my home. I would make sure every single dustmite in that house was being collected.

"All they had to do is ask." Just sounds snarky to me.

Alot of his comments about LE have been very snarky, since day one, imo. And I don't think it is helping him any.

Even his comments about 'helping with the investigation' are kind of obnoxious. WHY WOULDN'T HE HELP FIND HIS MISSING SON ? He was making it sound like a noble thing on his part. Like he is doing them a big favor.

Sorry, but he rubs me the wrong way.

Cases which are unsolved may be similar indeed-we won't know until or unless they are ever solved.
