Am I the only one who doesn't think she has put on that much weight?. She is a lot less toned for sure, and puffer in the face, and she looks to have gained a few pounds but I wouldn't say a lot. Considering she seemed to keep pretty fit in her other life and now she can't live on fruit and veg and has a pretty limited diet and exercise routine going on, she looks about how I'd expect really.
Plus whatever meds she is on that could be making her bloated.
I think she looks about right for someone nearly forty who is eating mostly carbs, who sits inside all day, possibly on some kind of antidepressant, and not doing crossfit. I say, looking down the sofa at my own body.

That may be, but I don't like the way he jokes around. It really rubs me the wrong way.
Me too. They are at the finish line and IMO, this (mental health expert) is not the time and/or witness to relax your guard. As a juror, sitting in that not-so-comfortable room with a wonky HVAC system, I'd probably be a bit annoyed. JMO

I got excited because the judge was essentially reading LS her rights and asking her questions about testifying and thought that meant it was a done deal, that it was happening. It took me by surprise and if I had more trials under my belt I may not have lost my cool, but I did.

Hmm. Well, the Defense does not yet have LS on their witness list.

They must be pondering it. I've said all along that the best way to make her insane in the eyes of the jury might be to put her on the stand. If they are considering this (Hail Mary move), I can see why the Judge kept staring at the ceiling.

T. will be delighted to star at her own trial. Cross examination would be brutal.

BTW, the Prosecution cannot call her as a witness - so at the end of today, they were confirming the Prosecution's final witnesses and lining up the first witness for the Defense - on Monday (Dr. Lewis).

IMO.

Sounds just like her.

Right? I don't think any of us will be a bit surprised to see her up there. I can't wait to see if Judge Werner waives his speech as she steps into the stand :D

I thought I heard that Dr. Lewis is flying in on the weekend. Is that correct?

If Letecia takes the stand, I wonder how long she'll be up there
. (I remember Jodi Arias was on the stand for 18 days.) I wonder if Maria will show up? One of those other personalities is going to have to show up. Don't you think?

Yes, Dr Lewis is flying on Saturday, they said.

If she's up there long enough to produce an alter, then there will almost certainly be rebuttal experts from the State.

I just think the risk is high (in both directions, but if I know that most people haven't run into a raging Borderline/Narcissist type out in the wild. It's quite a shock. LS has got a lot of mental issues, and if they put her up there on the stand, she may be one juror's first experience of crazy. That's the risk.

If the State can trick her into producing the alters at will (she's so dumb, she might fall for it even after being told not to - she doesn't follow others' instructions, that's for sure), then they'll need to bring back witnesses to say that this cannot be DID, as the alters cannot be summoned.

Something like that.

IMO.

I think Maria will turn the tables and point the finger at Letecia. Why should Maria take the blame? She can't stand Letecia. Maria hasn't liked Letecia ever since Letecia made her up.

You thought money belly was wild? You'd better buckle up.

And if you want specifics, you'll have to look to the upload of the stream and other members and reporters. I wasn't up for the same level of transcription and commentary today as I have been on other days. I have still given commentary and context, mostly from a personal perspective, but today hit hard and I put myself first by stepping back a little.

Men do not get their heads shaved in all 50 US states, that's for sure.

Time to stop shaving people's heads as a form of punishment, it's too strongly tied to ugly doings, IMO. At any rate, take that up with South Carolina and the other states that do it.

CO does not, to my knowledge, shave the men's heads. Here's Chris Watts's prison booking photo:

Still has hair. Was short before this, as well. It may be a prison men's haircut, but he certainly didn't have his whole head shaved.

Three booking photos of Charles Manson:

He certainly has shorter hair in the middle picture - but all three were taken at prison booking. So it varies and is not a problem that the entire US needs to deal with.

IMO.
Actually, it's not the "prisons" but during DOC reception/intake where the newly convicted typically have their heads shaved. This is the clearing house where inmates transition from jail to DOC before they are sent to their permanent homes. Once the inmate gets to their prison (such as the Watts example), they typically have hair again and no longer appear clean-shaven heads.

There's been much reported about this in the Murdaugh thread. MOO

Mighty curious that none of this baloney came out about all her "alters" until she knew she'd be examined by mental health professionals.
It sure is curious. I am not impressed with her "alters". They didn't even choose their own names; none have a drivers license; they've never signed for anything like a package delivery; they have no bank accounts; they don't seem to have any clothes of their own; they don't have social media accounts and I don't think they have separate surnames; they've never been to school; they have no hobbies and obviously none of them can cook. She could have made them smarter and more interesting while she was inventing them. jmo

They're all just reflections of herself, and as a result, have nothing about them that is unique.

Actual systems, some DO have a lot of system members who are very similar to each other, especially in OSDD1A (another dissociative disorder with a lot of similarities to DID). But even in those systems, they will often have variations of their name, likes, dislikes, different ages, a different gender identity or sexual identity, hobbies, special interests and skills that are specific to them. Even if their only time out is for a small, basic 'job', like handling a subject or two at school the other system members aren't as good at. Even if their personality and role is basic enough that the system's therapist classes them as a 'fragment', not a full identity. They will not all have the same memories, and even if they do share a memory, they'll often recall it in different ways, much like single people witnessing an event will all recall it differently.

LS's 'personas' show none of this autonomy or divergence of thought, memory, or identity. They are all herself in a half dozen funhouse mirrors.

I know what you're saying @Kiranerys.
LS was arrested in March 2020 and in comparison, I've not been incarcerated and medicated but I'm still struggling to rid myself of my COVID-19 lbs. ;)

At this stage of the trial, Judge Werner was simply advising LS of her right to testify and not that this was a done deal. The next time it's addressed again will be before the defense rests, and Werner will ask her for her answer.

I've been reading back posts. Did I understand right, today's first witness is a forensic psychologist the defense contacted for a second opinion in competency? But she’s testifying as a prosecution witness?
Really??!

  • #518
He's asking her all the questions, I assume she wants to. I didn't know if she would or not. The court is the biggest stage she'll ever be on, and it's her only chance to manipulate the jury directly. He's not wanting her decision now. He's advising her to think about it.
Did he tell her that only "one" can testify so she needs to decide which "one" that's going to be? I would hate for her take the stand and have 20+(or everhowmany) "alters" testify.

The states most brilliant move today, IMO was them using T's own claims of 'Maria in the Van Ride From Hell' story. All while knowing that very shortly we (and the jury ) will see the new improved spiced up version of Russian killer Maria, complete with Hispanic accent on the screen. The state must know that Dr Lewis will be doing all she can to promote the dastardly evil Maria. In giving the jury the not so subtle but direct hit of watching the Go-Pro video from the van again....with T's southern accent loud and proud on display.
When Dr Lewis finally gets on the stand to tell her side of things, the jury will be surely giving her the old side-eye.
