I might have dreamed this, but I seem to have a vague memory of the defence having hinted that Dr Lewis was going to talk about a head injury LS had suffered. Or I might be mixing it up with something I've read about Dr Lewis frequently bringing head injuries into the equation as causative of DID.

There was talk of her having a head injury, caused by falling off a desk, or hitting it on a desk or something to do with a desk in the classroom, I think in Dec 2020 sometime, I can't remember the specifics now, but I do remember it hecause it was another excuse for leaving a job. I can't remember if there was a suggestion of a lawsuit but it was early on and probably lurking around the first couple of threads still.

Let's not forget that LS had library/internet time weekly when she was representing herself (until she lost the privilege for a month), and I don't doubt LS had access to DSM-V! LS was living her copy/paste standard way of life for a few weeks!

ETA: LS quit and asked for a lawyer shortly after losing library privileges.

Question 1. Asking about using I pronouns for something another personality did. Witness says 'i don't think so'.
Question 2. Asking about the clock test. Why would the same test be given. She says that they were give two years apart. Also talks about how the clock test wasn't the only test given multiple times. Hoe there is benefit because thing might have changed over time.
Question 3. If you believe everything the defendant said in her story, would you diagnose her with DID? Witness says not. That the stories LS gave implied a level of control inconsistent with the diagnosis.

Defense still tried to shoehorn Maria in there. Nice try, but no doughnut.

Jury get the long instruction.
Yes, that last question is very strong. The witneses answers are solid and to the point. Even after the defense question her, she is still strong in her answers.

So, I have a question. Since Mr Tolini so helpfully suggested that Dr's Torres and Gray (flashbacks to when Greys anatomy was still one of the best shows on TV!) didn't spend anywhere near enough time with the evil one to be able to identify DID, as it takes between *however many years they said because I wasn't listening*, how is he then expecting the jury to believe Dr Lewis correctly diagnosed it over the two days she spent interviewing LS?, didn't he just poke holes all through his own defence strategy or am I missing something?.
I just saw you have the same question. Defense doesn’t seem to have much confidence in their defense. Perhaps Maria should take over…

I wonder how they got to and from Alaska? I guess not driving!
JMO
AS testified driving to AK alone with his two children -- a memory he'll never forget. I don't doubt LS and HH's visits to AK were by air transportation.

Stauch also said Maria can speak Spanish and Russian. When asked how Maria knows these languages, Stauch said she doesn’t know.

Prosecution said Stauch’s passport is in evidence right now, and there’s no indication that Stauch was in Canada. In previous testimony, Stauch indicated to witnesses that she had psychiatric in-patient treatment in Canada.

Dr. Torres said typically people with dissociative identity disorder experience problems with their functioning and do need some sort of psychiatric treatment. Dr. Torres said it’s not something that can be controlled and people tend to be ashamed to talk about their experience.

Dr. Torres said many people with dissociative identity disorder also tend to withhold information or don’t want people to know they have an illness.

“One of the most striking components to me is she doesn’t seem to be disturbed by having all of these personalities… that’s meaningful to me,” said Dr. Torres, who said she wasn’t convinced that Stauch had dissociative identity

Dr. Torres said Stauch’s symptoms of her claiming she had dissociative identity disorder, “seemed to increase over the course of the two years, from the time of the offense, to the first time we saw her, and to the time she was seen by Dr. Lewis in November 2022.”

Dr. Torres said during their sanity evaluation, they diagnosed Stauch with a personality with traits of borderline and narcissistic personalities.

Dr. Torres added, there wasn’t sufficient information to say with confidence that Stauch had dissociative identity disorder at the time of the alleged offense.

Dr. Torres testified saying after Stauch shot the person in the cape, she dissociates, and it’s her personalities that help cover up what it is that happened. “There is no particular mental illness that is impacting Mrs. Stauch’s ability to know what is right or what is wrong.”

Prosecutors: "What is your final opinion in regards to Stauch’s sanity?" Dr. Torres: “It was that Mrs. Stauch was sane at the time of the crime.”

During cross examination, Josh Tolini who is one of Letecia Stauch’s lawyers, asked Dr. Torres about implicit bias at the state hospital. Dr. Torres said “I don’t think there is an implicit bias in the way that you’re describing it here.”

Jurors watched part of the sanity evaluation conducted in March 2022 on Stauch. She is talking about abuse, when her stepdad hit her mom and busted her head, and Stauch called the police. Stauch said everything was her fault, and that’s when she first vividly remembered abuse.

Tolini asked about how dissociative identity disorder is diagnosed and that it takes 6-12 years for someone to be diagnosed. Dr. Torres acknowledged that and also said, “It would be difficult to diagnose within an hour… Just off of observations, I think it’s unlikely to happen.”

The murder trial for Letecia Stauch will resume on Monday morning. Prosecutors have one more witness to call to the stand before resting their case. The defense has two witnesses to call to the stand.

I wonder......if its Laina
Did they say only 1 more witness? I agree about Laina, but @Megnut mentioned LH. I’d like to hear from both. LS opened the door to Laina by saying on tape that Laina helped carry Gannon’s body.

I realize it will be difficult and traumatic for young L to testify. But it will be powerful and impactful, and I think the jury needs to hear from her.

Or it could be also a video of Laina being interviewed.

1682724533482.png Dr. Torres agrees sometimes Borderline Personality Disorder attachments may mean idealizing men (or an attraction), and then switch and not like them at all. Yes, BPD can suffer from psychosis, but it's transient usually, but not always.....
Someone else caught on too, and said the same thing. Defense was implying if DID wasn't going to work, then how about a Borderline (BPD) psychotic episode. No cigar though. Even if she has BPD, Dr. Torres says it doesn't present enough to be "murderous black out psychosis".

This is JMO now. I usually hesitate to sofa-diagnose, but I think we all have earned an opinion after following this trial.

Letecia was frantic at times for Albert to say he still loved her = abandonment issues big time. Jealous of LH. She was paranoid that Albert was using her and getting sick of her. All those symptoms remind me of Borderline Personality Disorder. Certainly, and there's comorbidity with heavy narcissistic features, and a few other disorder features.

I know others have said this here. A transient psychosis perhaps, BUT the real reason may be she had seething resentment about caring for Gannon, and hurt him noticeably. Instead of taking him to the hospital and owning up to it, she decided to kill him.

Would they sit her up there on her own in open court? I don't like that idea. I also really don't like the idea of either defence lawyers cross examining her.
Whilst I would really love to know what Laina had to say, I'm going to have to hope the final witness is Landen.

I don't think it will be Dr Gray, there's too much secrecy around who it is and Dr Torres was asked multiple times if he agreed with her, and if he signed the reports etc.
