Yes, I remember that - it was very early on. She popped him up on the bumper, bandaged him and he was "good to go." I remember being so annoyed by her saying that. Then she added some of her unnecessary details - Gannon loves helping his dad build things and yada, yada, yada.

IIRC, that was also when she said Gannon began running around to the gate and there was something to do with the gate key... Does anyone remember that? I wonder what that was all about.

Insanity. Quite nebulous.

If the Prosecution is 99% of the way there that she's sane, but the jury votes otherwise, it's scary to think that, on Day 1, at the psych hospital, she's already sane. Never wasn't.

However, since insanity is nebulous, hopefully that would work against her, because she's always going to be borderline. And they can keep her there forever.

Not a chance I'm comfortable with however.

She needs to be caged where she can't weasel or fake her way out of. For life.

Yes. The jury's decision must be unanimous. All 12 jurors must agree on all counts.

The judge's parting advice to the jury made me feel he *really* wanted to avoid a hung jury. Or maybe juries always get this advice. Still have never actually been called for one, alas ...

Morning all. Jury watch today I hope the verdict comes fast . We've had 3 years to come to our conclusion they just started unpacking all they learned in the last few weeks. I hoped the verdict would come Friday but it should come today jmoo

Jury instructions are always confusing for me…if this, then that. If not this, then that or that, etc. Roman numerals, outlines, etc. I’m guessing most, or more likely all, of the jurors have never heard a jury instruction before, let alone one as complicated as this. I can only imagine how long it would take for 12 people to discuss and analyze the instructions before even getting to the review of evidence to see where it would fall.

We didn't. I have my suspicions but they are 99% my imagination running away with me.

Here for Gannon, hoping for a swift deliberation this morning and that justice be served.

This whole time watching the trial I have yet to comment. It was hard to watch and keep up with. I hope the Jury can see that she is a narcissist who was very aware of everything she did to Gannon. A sweet child, who fought to live. She know what she was doing and had the capacity to lie and hide everything.

During the trial, and whenever you guys posted screengrabs of her sitting there with her hair all crazy.. She reminds me of Bellatrix Lestrange from Harry Potty.

IMO it probably comes down to technicalities in what would be reasonable to admit as evidence, but you’re right; it isn’t fair to Gannon.

On the bright side, I personally feel like the prosecution has done a very good job at presenting their case. I obviously can’t speak for any of the jurors, but if I were in their position, I’d be partial to the prosecution’s argument in part because they brought numerous witnesses to the stand, while the defense only brought two.

MOO. I’m still feeling a bit anxious about tomorrow

So am I and I don’t like it. If they convict, then all is well and nothing I’ve said matters. If even one of them want her in a hospital, I will never believe in justice. In this game of courtroom tactics, I pray the jury sides with the prosecution because they are the only ones speaking up for GANNON.

Wasn't Gannon going in and out doing the trash or whatever a way to explain away her activity on the security system motion detectors? Or am I thinking of something else? I'm thinking it was actually her throwing stuff away during the cleanup.

She's got 10 different stories to explain every single element of this crime, so the smaller ones like this are harder for me to remember clearly. Forgive me if I'm wrong!

It just seems one of the best ways to pin down ASPD might be their history, especially regarding rules / law breaking. I don't know for sure, but I connect it more with disregarding and not conforming. I thought that was a key feature of the condition?

You're good at pin pointing behavior. Astute. The google searches were excessive and almost silly simple. (As for you and I, we are all forced to run different searches changing wording to get a decent answer. Use the word new and you might get lots of happy new year answers. lol)

Really surprises me that there's similarities between those two-- ASPD and HPD. Aren't there extreme differences in the two? Please know, I don't understand either fully. (Narcissism I can see as like a side order or comorbidity to any other unless it's full blown NPD.)

Could she answer no she was not on any drugs to the Judge when he asked? He did ask just before asking her if she was going to testify on her behalf. I thought she said no, which surprised me.​

I totally get why you would think HPD and ASPD were completely different (I am still re-reading the research that wants to collapse them + Narcissism into some kind of Mega-PD).

Here's the list for HPD (with my comments about how researchers are comparing it to ASPD OR to NarcPD- not my own ideas, IOW)

• Be uncomfortable unless they are the center of attention (obv. something a Narc does; Antisocials also test boundaries in this way)
• Dress provocatively and/or exhibit inappropriately seductive or flirtatious behavior (whereas the "masculine diagnosis of ASPD merely points to being "charming")
• Shift emotions rapidly (this one can be confused with BorderlinePD)
• Act very dramatically, as though performing before an audience, with exaggerated emotions and expressions, yet appears to lack sincerity (similar to the "charm" of ASPD)
• Be overly concerned with physical appearance (Narcs and ASPD people do this too)
• Constantly seek reassurance or approval (Narcs do this; ASPD pretend to do it)
• Be gullible and easily influenced by others (not a trait of ASPD - but also often absent from the actual diagnosis of HPD)
• Be excessively sensitive to criticism or disapproval (like Narcs, Borderlines and many ASPD people)
• Have a low tolerance for frustration and be easily bored by routine, often beginning projects without finishing them or skipping from one event to another (Opportunistic crime/grift seeking in ASPD)
• Not think before acting (overlaps with the ways that ASPD get themselves into criminal trouble)
• Make rash decisions (same impulsivity that gets ASPD people into jail)
• Be self-centered and rarely show concern for others (overlaps with ASPD and NarcPD)
• Have difficulty maintaining relationships, often seeming fake or shallow in their dealings with others (seems to be true of many PD's)
• Threaten or attempt suicide to get attention (Overlaps with Borderline; key difference is the attention-seeking)

Histrionic Personality Disorder

The thing about real world diagnoses of Histrionic PD, is that the first thing on the list is definitely one of the first-noticed and documented. I was taught that Bipolar I people who are experiencing mania/hypomania are more likely to wear hats (this was in the 1980's to early 2000's) whether a man or a woman, but especially in women. I spent quite a bit of grad school time counting hats in the psychiatric waiting rooms of several big clinics. There were not many, but mostly women (and yes, it makes a psychiatrist start thinking "Bipolar").

That's because most people who are going to be seen by a psychiatrist actually try to present themselves as sane and healthy. Most do not have a major PD or Axis I diagnosis.

TL;DR Histrionics are all about attention-seeking (positive or negative; often using drama or sex). This is deemed less manipulative in DSM than ASPD or BPD.
