LE can't trace you if your phone is off. The only way for a Government agency or other Law enforcement agencies to track down your position if the phone is turned on.

Ok..... Then do they have pinged as it traveled 700 miles away?

If there are no pinges. Why not?
I’ve always gotten the impression it was a solitary ping, like someone turned it on to text her job. Whoops, did I just say that out loud?

Has anyone seen the baby lately?

  • #763
Something tells me “self harm” would be a big no no of shame with this community. I still say baby daddy needs more Le attn since he saw her last

If he saw her on the 22nd, then didn't see or hear from her until the text she supposedly sent on the 25th, that's 3 days with no contact. I wonder if that's normal for them? Or did they usually talk everyday? If they normally spoke to each other all the time, I would think he would have raised the alarm by the second day. Was he normally left alone with their child for that long?

We have just had a case in Australia where a man has been charged with murdering his wife because he took her turned off phone with him when he hid her body and her phone pinged in the same places as his turned off phone. Also in NZ, a woman's body was found because her turned off phone pinged close to where her body was buried.

Maybe a distrust of “outsiders” wanting to handle things “in house”

Just curious, maybe I missed something, but why is this a speculation?

If that ping is legitimate, I believe it to be an intentional effort to mislead any subsequent investigation.

The phone would have been turned off up until that point.

That’s a hell of an effort for someone to take though.

I’m not sure that someone would travel 800 miles just to get a phone to ping there.

All we’ve heard about is a “ping” and not anything regarding text messages or phone calls made from Idaho.

Would someone really go through that effort, just to turn a phone on and off again, in the hope that it would generate a ping, and thus mislead law enforcement?

Maybe, I guess. But I would expect some communication of some sort to accompany this.

The relationship seems somewhat odd to me. They were engaged and had a child together.

Very confusing....

Because we speculate.

What makes me think this is because there is no information or particular concern about how Thanksgiving would be spent. That is a holiday almost all families spend together. In this case, there is nothing about holiday plans. So, I'm speculating that perhaps one or both people in the couple do not celebrate the holiday because of religious reasons. Please do not read more into it than that.

I'm seeing many posts that look they are replies other posts, but I'm not seeing the quoted post they are in reply to.

Is everyone talking to themselves???

Unless someone used a plane...maybe LE needs to be concentrating on some of her friends or coworkers that had access to a plane? Far-fetched, I know, but this whole case is just so weird.

Yes, I know, very confusing, but sometimes people post opinions as facts on Google. I don't know.

Today is Dec 10th...no way in he** she is still away on some private journey...

Yes I remember those posts, and that she had broken up with Sir Freezey
When I saw those posts alleging Kelsey had testified in a couple's case I immediately thought of the Larrow's who took off with their kids in October to avoid a neglect/abuse court case and still haven't been located. They were out of the Colorado Springs area (the husband, but not the father of the children, was a soldier out of Fort Carson) and the husband of that couple has family in the New Plymouth area of Idaho (along I-84 near the Oregon border). Probably no connection there, but that is what came to mind.

Quoting myself here (who does that!?)

Maybe not so simple. If a text is sent from Kelsey's phone in Idaho, to a phone "B" that is turned off, there is no evidence where phone "B" is is located, until it is turned back on. So I would also like to know when the fiancé received the text- immediately or half a day later. Law enforcement would know this.

Secondly, phone "B" could be left powered on at home and receive text, is there a record of when a text was read? I don't know. Half a day later?
In following some other murders, I believe the pinging comes from the phone connecting with another cell tower as it goes through an area. It doesn't have anything to do with another phone. Even when it is turned off, it will do it. If the battery is dead I don't think it could ping. Makes me wonder if the battery was dead and they went where they went, charged the battery, then it pinged and they sent some messages to make it look like she was headed in the direction of some of her family members.

There may be others with a better knowledge of pinging, but I know in a Tyler, TX case they were able to pretty closely follow the path the abductor/killer took by the pings off of the cell towers.

I’ve researched this in previous cases.

When turned off, cell phones do not ping.

When location tracking is turned off, it is still possible to track a cell phone, but the phone has to be on to do this.

Following... wondering if she's hiding from someone ?
Ex-boyfriend ? Domestic (i.e. family issues ; or pressure from a work acquaintance ) ?
Either way ... hope she's o.k. and just needing time away.

Sounds like they found home made cinnamon rolls at Kelsey's on 12/2. The mother added they were cold. Who bakes before going into hiding ?
