I saw the interviews and thought CW seemed nervous. I have never met the man so have no idea what was "normal" behavior for him. JMO

He may have been nervous. But he surely didn't seem grief stricken. Wouldn't you expect a father, who just hours earlier had watched the brutal murder of his children, to be grief stricken and traumatized?

How was he able to appear so calm and casual?

My educated guess is before the murders something akin to we need to talk and after the murders...please at least tell me where you are going with the kids. There is no need to take off like this. I have a right to know where my children are? You are not thinking straight, come home (or stay if you haven't left yet) and let's discuss this.

ALL IMO

I mean between he and the AP.

If CW killed the girls anytime earlier in the evening Sunday (say around 5pm-9pm), would a coroner be able to tell that from the autopsies, or their hairs, even if they were submerged in oil? And I would think it was much easier to determine time of death of Shanann, yes?
Stomach contents would be their best bet.

Otherwise, it would almost certainly be impossible to determine who died first, if we are only talking about a matter of hours.

Not with the passage of time, and differing methods of disposal between the kids and mom.

The swath of damage that CW has left is wide and long and probably will increase. His victims. SW's family and friends. His family and friends. Neighbors. Co-workers. The AP(s). The ranch owners. The crew that had to drain the tanks and may have seen the bodies. LE that had to remove the bodies. The family he and SW encountered in NC. The victims are gone. Family and friends are scarred for life. Others may be scarred for life. Most have had their lives changed.

There has also been a swath of goodness and bravery. All the people SW and her children touched and who will remember them. NUA and her tenacity and bravery. The strength of SW's family and friends. The swiftness of LE and the community to act. People, like those here on Websleuths, who care about what happened and happens.

Hopefully, there'll be some balance.

RSBM.

I think he wanted a new life with his lover, so suicide wasn't ever on the cards. Now that he has been caught and faces the rest of his life in an orange suit or the death penalty, it might be a different story.

CW will now have women 'coming out of the woodwork' to be his partner.
He will be delighted as he is so popular!!!!!

I just lost a good friend, of decades. He wasn't a family member. Yet for the last 3 days there is no way I could have done a TV interview, I have burst into tears at odd moments and when I have suddenly seen friends on the street who also knew him. This was not a husband, brother, father, boyfriend. I know this is slightly O/T, but not really, as here I am yet again with a heavy face and tears squeezing out. The reason I'm describing this is because there is NO WAY Chris Watts lost people he loved. I didn't really feel this before as I constantly criticized his stone cold persona in the videos, but now I completely understand. He murdered people he didn't even care about, and these were blood kin.

NuttMeg, I'm so very sorry for your loss.

I agree with you and there is no way CW lost people he loved. I didn't see any signs of grief in his three media interviews and he knew his little girls were dead when he gave those interviews.

A dear friend of mine died suddenly 3 1/2 years ago. Like your friend, my friend was a man, he wasn't a husband or boyfriend, not a family member of mine and I loved him as a friend. I experienced what you stated you are experiencing over the death of your friend. The tears would not stop. If I were to give a media interview to discuss my friend today, I'm certain I would cry.

I feel very badly for you, as it is incredibly painful to lose someone you love. The early days are the worst. Big hugs.

People have tried to excuse this by claiming he had disassociated or was in shock. Psych experts have come on and said that his behavior indicated none of that.

I would love to see this guy on the stand.:):):)
I am sure, his Defense would be against this.
Him taking the stand would make the prosecution deliriously happy. IMO :)

I believe CW planned to murder and then murdered his wife Shanann and children, Cece, Bella, and Nico. I believe the murders were then covered up by CW, and the bodies hidden, in a manner that satisfied some sick need in his warped mind. I have looked at and tried to fairly consider all of the facts and evidence, but I always return to his guilt. So, I made this list, and I still reach the same conclusion;

Did CW attempt to help any of the victims? – No! (he would have said so, if he had!)

Did CW yell, cry out, or do anything to attract attention? – No!

Did CW call anyone for help (911)? – No!

Did CW attempt to preserve the crime scene? – no!

Did CW attempt to mitigate his attack on SW to protect the unborn Nico? – No!

Did CW attempt to mitigate his attack on SW, to restrain the killer/witness? = No!

Did CW advise LE, at any time BEFORE he was made aware the truth was coming out, of an alternate explanation? – No! (Once he knew and understood the direction that LE was following and that his actions and behavior had been exposed, his confession became self-serving at best!)

At any time, before he was forced by circumstances, did CW tell the truth? – NO!

Did CW treat any of the bodies with the reverence and/or respect of a grieving parent? – No!

At any time, after NUA and LE arrived at the house, up to the current time, has CW proclaimed his love for his family or even used the word; love? – No!

At any time has CW expressed or shown any remorse, for anything? - No!

Has CW done anything that would lead a logical person to perceive innocence? – No!

Did CW kill any one? – Yes! (he’s confessed to killing SW, and by extension, Nico!)

Was CW the only survivor? – Yes!

Did CW remain quiet and do everything he could to hide the crimes? – Yes!

Did CW disrupt. manipulate, and change the crime scene? – Yes!

Did CW move and hide bodies? – Yes!

Did CW move and hide the bodies in a manner usually indicating guilt? – Yes!

Did CW treat the bodies disrespectfully and in a manner contrary to what would logically be expected by a moral society, and of a grieving parent? – Yes!

Did CW treat the bodies in a manner usually indicating mental aberration and guilt? – Yes!

Did CW attempt to manipulate others away from the truth (NUA, LE, the media)? - Yes!

Has CW lied? – Yes!

Has CW lied repeatedly and in a way indicating guilt? – Yes!

Is CW an adulterer? – Yes!

Is the adultery current? – Yes!

Has CW behaved in a manner (overall) contrary to that of a worried or grieving parent? – Yes

Has CW behaved in a manner that has caused experts to convey disbelief and concern? – Yes!

Has CW done anything that would lead a logical person to perceive guilt? – Yes!

Do the current facts and evidence greatly favor a belief of CW’s guilt of murdering his wife and children? – Yes!

This should be the prosecutions closing speech, if it does go to trial.

Years ago, I witnessed a child on the bottom of the pool. I was in the changing room when I noticed the girlfriend of the child’s father was in the sauna. I knew (small town and everyone knew everyone in the club) she was supposed to be watching his son and his son’s friend. I ran out and sure enough, that little boy (he was six years old) was on the bottom of the deep end and he was a white boy but he was totally black. Someone had jumped in to get him. They worked on him, the rescue squad came. He did recover, thank God. The point of my story is that he hadn’t been in the water terribly long to have first turned blue and then black from lack of oxygen. I saw this with my own eyes. I’ll never forget it.

And a vital point in this horrible memory is that this child RECOVERED, thanks to the EMTs.

CW had every reason to believe his children could be revived, especially the 2nd one. Knowing that [in his story anyway] ---that he didn't call for medical help is very revealing.

Yeah I mean every one around these murders has acted appropriately. Except, conveniently, the one who coincidentally lied his tail off and worked diligently to conceal the bodies and the deaths and is charged with their murders.

And please, let's not forget the house was like a "ghost town." Yup, no remaining inhabitants because they were murdered, (and I believe by your hand). :(:(:(:(
Oh well caught! Talk about a Freudian slip!

He looked well rested, was well groomed, showered, and freshly dressed. All while he KNEW his family was dead! Tells me what he is, and he's not a human being!

Oh , wow. Your post triggered an old memory. When my friend and neighbor lost her infant to SIDS, I remember having to go and help her wash up and get dressed a couple days later. Her husband asked me to come over and help her. He was feeling as weak as she was. But he wanted to try and help her feel a little better. It didn't really help much though. :-[

Surprising how well groomed and well put together that smiling man looked during his tv interviews.

Yes. But I can imagine him turning on the light as he runs around the house getting what he needs to transport their bodies so he can check to make sure every now and then that they didn't somehow revive.

Oh the gruesomeness of it all. I can't imagine being that sick of soul.

My thinking meter went off when he said the night that they were gone, he had all the lights on in the house. My thoughts at that time and still now are that he had the lights on to cover his tracks from anybody that might be looking from the outside as to what room he may be in at the time. With all the lights on, perhaps nobody knew which room he was in at the time.

To treat the bodies of your loved ones as if they are garbage, is not normal behavior. It is the opposite of a loving act.

I find the idea that one has to be on “a religious high horse” to find body desecration appalling, quite frankly appalling in and of itself.

This has nothing to do with religion, and everything to to with being human.

I don’t understand how people are able to excuse it, even if they don’t have a visceral reaction to it.

What he did with the bodies is evidence of “consciousness of guilt,” something entirely relevant to the murder charges.

Good luck to the defense, who will seek to downplay these actions.

Many bury their pets with respect because their pets are so loved, and the owners are very emotional during these procedures and after.
With their loved humans, respect is shown with funerals etc and the long grieving process.

CW appears not to feel love for his entire family, in the way of disposal.
Then the lack of emotion, during the interviews, after his entire family have died.
WHY?
Because he is their murderer, and has devised this outrageous plan to be free.
However, he forgets, that he is not so SMART. :):):)
MOO.

I'm sorry for your sad memory. What you say is true. I lost my 37 year old daughter unexpectedly and I know full well how family reacts. We all act differently, but there is also a common thread of shock, loss, and disbelief. He had none of that, more like relief, joy, duper's delight, and smug satisfaction. I watched one of the videos again last night and I never saw a grieving husband and father, not really a husband or father of any type.

I didn't think about it, but it's possible they may have tried to call him and he wouldn't take or return their calls. I can see that from him.

He couldn't answer because he wouldn't know what to say when they'd ask to speak to their daughter or grandkids. What excuse could he give? I don't know where they are?

Years ago I attended a wake with a friend of mine. I was surprised at the drinking, story telling, and even some laughter. I didn't understand it then, but I accepted it because sadness and loss was in the room and could be felt. Nothing at all from CW!

I agree stomach contents would be the best way to determine time of death. I recal reading a book on forensics though and, this sounds gross, flies and their larvae can help to determine time of death also. However I don’t think their bodies were probably left long enough to get to that stage and also being dumped in crude oil, I would imagine would definitely inhibit an infestation of flies. It’s just interesting the different methods they have of pinpointing time of death.
