I couldn’t finish watching the psychologist video. Great audition for being hired by defense in this case if he doesn’t plead out.

Just as I suspected and mentioned earlier. The income they made when they bought the house drastically reduced. Unless he had a different job now then he did then, Shannan's sales plummeted. This confirms it with a combined income of 147k down to 90k. Losing 57k in a situation where one was living above their means to begin with puts you in dire financial straits very quickly.

I am totally sickened not only the fact he killed his wife and children, but how he disposed of them is so horrific and also telling. My first thought was so he was ok with going to work every day knowing his baby girls were close by and a constant reminder of what he had done. Then I realized one, he doesn't care about them and two, he had no intentions of sticking around anyway. He was already talking about selling the house. He was going to be out of there as soon as possible.

Gitana the video you posted of Bella was the saddest thing I've seen since reading about this case. It brought her to life and emphasied the cruelty and horrificness of this crime. Having 2 young granddaughters of similar age and knowing how much they adore my son and are totally daddy's girls makes it all so real to me. Such a sweet little girl and one that loved her daddy...UGH.. the betrayal here is disgusting.

Yes, even Monday night he is voicing his future plans to sell the house (now that he is rid of the obligations). But he isnt all that clever.

How does he sell a house if his wife is still missing and not declared legally dead? How does that work?

If he were an abuser he had 6 weeks of pent up frustration with no one in the house to bully and abuse. Do you think SW would have trusted him alone with their kids while she was out of town? I find that hard to believe.

I know I paid special attention at that point, because it seemed like a strange request. The prosecution seemed to clarify it with the judge who said they had to give ample notification (my words, not his, as I don't remember his exact terminology).

It was a very weird discussion. The defense motion requested 48 hours notice for autopsies to be conducted. The DA, judge and defense went around in circles a few times with the DA having the most concern. Finally, the DA asked whether this meant that they had to wait 48 hours after locating the victims and notifying the defense before the autopsies could be performed. The judge said (paraphrasing) “no, just give the defense as much notice as you can.”

The judge also said it did not mean that the defense was ordered to be (allowed to be) present at the autopsy(ies).

The whole discourse was weird.

I’m not convinced he confessed prior to his arrest. The company he worked for or LE looked at the company security video. That’s how I think it played out. He was fired either shortly before or shortly after his arrest and they knew where to locate SW right after the arrest.
That's an interesting thought and something that had not crossed my mind. You may be correct.

Interestingly he has been hired as an expert for the defense in 60% of his 50 times he has testified.
Max Wachtel, Ph.D. :: JurisPro Expert Witness Directory :: Colorado

So he is a professional witness. Back in the days of CourtTV we saw many of these guys. The defense usually had the whackiest of them because their client was guilty so they needed someone willing to come up with any scenario (no matter how illogical) to make their client appear innocent. Not all paid witnesses are Henry Lee's.

Sounds like Jason Young. (Driving back to Raleigh upon hearing his wife had been murdered: “I’m probably going to take a real hit on the house...”). He didn’t even pretend to care or ask how she was killed.

And really did he not assume he would be arrested once they found the bodies AT HIS WORK??? It sounds like Shanann wasn’t even hidden. What was his plan here?

Ok - this is a video of CW on YouTube giving a speech in 2012 on Communication in Relationships. WOW........just unbelievable!

ugh after seeing this one thing ya gotta say about him was he sure got himself looking a heck of a lot better!

=============

Where was it reported that she was planning on leaving him? Is there a link or is it speculation?

there is a little problem -- in the long interview when asked about how their relationship was the wife responded with a resounding their relationship was awesome

in another clip she described that she had reported to her that she kinda pondered if he was having an affair

==========================
Did the judge approve this notice or was it just a request?
I can't imagine ME wanting to delay autopsy as I'm not sure
that cold storage completely halts decomposition. Doesn't it
just slow things down?

i think it would it destroy lots of stuff - just the thought of stuffing your kids in a stinky gas tank is really quite repulsive

from the court hearing I think they knew (he told them) he stuck em in there his doing all this hypothetical talking and confessing imo is about him being caught

------------

============================

I'm thinking he was planning "his single life".
No more wifey, no more kids, no more financial hardship.
A do over w/ a new girlfriend maybe?

he obviously put in a lot of time and effort to get more appealing============

hi you

Can you just say what you heard? I can't really make it out.

I was just surprised that someone did not advise them that sound was picking them up !!

He may have a lot of credentials but he doesn't seem to have a lot of smarts. Heck the whole world practically, after watching the interviews was going, "Oh. Shoot. He did it."
Maybe he wants in on the defense.

Not saying it's necessarily the case with this fellow, but sometimes attorneys have to hire the expert who's available/willing to take the case, though that expert may not be the first choice. ;)

I honestly think he just ran out of time and that's why he just dumped her body and didn't put it in a tank also.

ETA: I picked up the wrong reply quote. It was supposed to be from Doghairrules #338. Sorry, I am inept at fixing!

And really did he not assume he would be arrested once they found the bodies AT HIS WORK??? It sounds like Shanann wasn’t even hidden. What was his plan here?

Agree; she left the kids with him a lot.

What I think is that he was a sullen and passive-aggressive type. He bottled up his grievances and they festered. I bet he argued with her sometimes and always lost. So he took out his anger in small ways; nasty comments, “forgetting” to do some chore she asked him to do, etc.

Just my opinion.

And I definitely think he let her know the kids were dead and THEN he killed her.

RSBM. So well said! And so true. I see it all over my social media. And you are correct that all of the ones "liking" and "congratulating" and being all enthusiastic are ALSO trained to behave that way to continue the hype.

I don't really know about the trips (what's paid for and what isn't), but when it comes to "free cars," they are not "free." They are leases that you only get to have if you maintain a certain monthly sales level. If not, goodbye car. A nice perk, I suppose, but it does create a level of stress for sure and it's misleading to claim you "got a free car" in my opinion!

Sad, isn't it? They now have done studies that have shown people often get depressed after reading social media.

Because everyone appears to have it better. Trips, photoshopped pictures, smiling faces galore! Sorry, life just isn't like that. It's a make-believe word, a highlight reel of only the good parts.

It's why I often post photo's of myself in hot rollers and my bathrobe that my poor friends have to look at, lol. But, hello, this is reality.

Social media is not reality.

BBM

I think there have been a couple of reports about her leaving him (one used the word "infidelity"), but here is one from the media thread:

Shanann Watts murder case: Friends, family recall life of slain NC native :: WRAL.com
"She mentioned about them having problems, Shanann and Chris," Search said.
Search said Onorati told her the two were planning to separate.

ETA: Here is the article that mentions infidelity. This is a different friend than the one mentioned above.

Chris Watts case: Everything we know so far about the alleged murders of his wife, daughters
Thayer said she had been told last week by Shanann that she had concerns of infidelity on Chris’ behalf. “She said that it came to her mind that possibly he could be cheating but at the same time, she was like, you know, he has no game,” Thayer said.

Interesting! What made Anadarko look at security tapes? The wife/kids of one of their employees went missing. Would that automatically trigger them to review security tapes? Maybe they were asked to confirm his “alibi” and they discovered him where he wasn’t supposed to be??

ah ha the maybe he confessed to someone else answers why the alleged confession phrasing bugged me

fits in with the couple in long interview who totally knew they needed to call LE he broke down and told them thinking they would protect him and they just could not?

did not find the clinician impressive - his notion that it is some big accomplishment for a narcissist to lie and be manipulative is somewhat bewildering

that narrative IMO seems to point more to after being nurtured by his friends , he erroneously thought they would not report to the cops his admission

It feels more like out of control anger issues more than premeditated- he hit push she ended up dead maybe kids came in and saw mommy so he felt like he had no choice but to kill them and attempt to get away with it

the arrest was real fast -- the neighbors said they could not tell what happened that made them call LE -- imo he confessed to them

plus cops made him think they had something in the house that proves he killed them in the house

even at this point they have not come out directly and said HE confessed that is just weird moo

Totally agree. I know of one local "expert" that is hired nationally by the defense of sexual abusers. A disgrace to the field. And takes all the cases that ethically no one else will touch.

Edited to remove pronoun.
