I can’t get her singing “My Daddy is my Hero” out of my head. :(

I’m thinking Shanann knew he killed them right before he killed her. Often the kids are killed bc the dad wants to hurt the mom (again a main danger with familial abductions)...If she was going to leave him...between child support, maybe the thought of someone else raising his kids...maybe he figured he was going to lose custody any way. Just trying to get inside this monster’s head. Not easy to understand at all how someone could do something like this...
I can't get that video out of my head either Margarita. (They need to play it in a non-stop loop in his cell!) I have to agree with you that he may have killed the girls first.

Just to note on dates...Shanaan returned from a 6 week trip with the girls to NC on Aug 7 (CW spent the first week with them in NC and returned home), then she left on a work trip Aug 8. She returned home from her work trip about 2:00am Aug 13....something was obviously not right in that home.

I don't see CW as being too smart.

If you watch some of videos of SW's work trips that SW and CW went on together, he is often in the background (probably thought he was out of the video frame) looking very annoyed and/or not at all interested in participating with what his wife was doing.
I noticed that as well on her Facebook Live video when they were on a tour boat in San Diego.

I’m thinking whoever interrogated him was really good at applying the pressure. So good that it didn’t take him long to buckle.

Just saw the news this morning. How awful but so glad that they were found.

I have a feeling he was stewing mad all weekend while she was out of town working and as soon as she got home a big fight took place and he killed her almost right after she was dropped off by the friend.

This is telling in the article and more or less hints torwards a fight.

"In the interview, he tells a detailed version of what he claims happened when Shanann and their daughters Bella and Celeste went missing, including that he and his wife “had an emotional conversation” before he allegedly last saw her."

I also couldnt quite understand why he killed the kids too until I realized that if they witnessed a big huge fight where he killed the wife first then he probably felt he had to kill them too or he would be busted.

This could be what he's planning for his defense story. But the
undisturbed beds don't fit.

Just caught up - yes all 3 threads! :) and was looking for his next court date. This is what I found on the court site:

Docket for: Weld County - Weld County Court House
Showing 1 - 2 of 2 records

Date Len Name Hearing Type Case # Location Division
8/21/18
10:00 AM 30M WATTS, CHRISTOPHER Hearing on Advisement D622018CR2003 Weld County Division 5

link Seventh Judicial District » Docket Search

but this article says Monday:

Officials investigate cause of death for Colorado mom, kids

Authorities are expected to file formal charges Monday against Watts, an oil and gas worker who authorities said dumped his wife and daughters' bodies on his employer's property.

and this article says Monday (8/20) - ??

I think I shall believe the court site. In the article it says DA will formally file charges on late afternoon Monday.

edited to add: what date were their bodies found? I must have missed that. TIA>

I don't think the undisturbed beds have anything to do with it. He could have made the beds before he left for work.

Still, I don't think this scenario is what happened. It think it was all VERY planned out and the girls were already deceased when Shanann got home :(.

Undisturbed beds when Dad was only parent there that weekend implies to me that they didn’t sleep in their beds the whole time mom was gone. I don’t think the beds factor in on who was killed first or when it happened. Unless we find out he was an OCD type who made everyone’s beds regularly.

Dont know - this concerns me

liked the neighbors

here is the clip where she says the opposite of what she says in another interview

I spent most of yesterday out of town, trying to catch up here and there on my phone. I wondered how on earth this case could ever go to trial. Now, reading up on the requests for DNA on the girls' necks (I hate writing that, :(), it looks like the defense has a plan.

Does CW have a public defender? I am assuming this, due to their financial trouble.

Trying to remember where I saw but when they were reported missing , there was a mention of him returning umbrellas or something to work. That was bc his neighbors cam saw his truck back into garage I believe . I would think that police would have gotten cam footage from his work . So he was cornered . No footage of them leaving , and possible footage of something in back of truck . I feel so sorry for Shannan’s family. Has anyone seen anything regarding his family ?

It does appear he killed the girls before his wife came home. This will definitely lend more credence to this being premeditated. He didn't snap, he planned this, most likely for months. He had plenty of opportunity to leave, divorce her, give up parental rights and obligations if he wanted to be free. He could have spent a year squirreling away money, faked his death and made a new life. There is no excuse for his behavior. None. No justification, no excuse and I could care less what his "reason" was. Shut him behind bars and put duct tape on his mouth because if I have to hear another word from him I'm going to hurl. Seriously, this case is infuriating.

I think the umbrellas were in reference to Scott Peterson. He said he loaded some umbrellas to return to work.

ETA: If this applies to CW as well, he is really taking a page out of SP's playbook. Not the smartest...

Of course I could be wrong;

Looking at the ingredients of the Thrive patch I don’t think any of the ingredients had any major side effects for the user.

For reference the ingredients are:

  • ForsLean
  • Green coffee bean extract
  • Garcinia Cambogia
  • CoQ10
  • White willow bark
  • Cosmoperine
Side effects of the Thrive patch:

  • Itchy skin
  • Hot flashes
  • Skin irritation
  • Muscle cramping
  • Headaches
  • Stomach upset
  • Anxiety
  • Irregular heart rate
  • Skin discoloration

Just curious but why would the side effects cause Anxiety or Irregular Heart Rate? Is there some sort of natural type of stimulants in the ingredients?

ETA: Is the “Thrive” patch the same thing as “Burn” that I heard SW and her friends mentioning in her videos regarding weight loss?

No bond for Frederick man accused of killing pregnant wife, children

GREELEY — Wearing shackles and an orange jumpsuit, Christopher Watts — who is accused of killing his pregnant wife and two children — appeared in court for the first time Thursday.

However, no formal charges have been filed against him by the Weld County District Attorney.

During the hearing, 19th Judicial District Judge Marcelo Kopcow said the court found probable cause for Watts’ warrantless arrest early Thursday morning.
[.....]
Rourke said his office plans to file formal charges against Watts by 3:30 p.m. Monday.

“At this point, the court is not authorizing any bail,” Kopcow said, adding that bond will be readdressed once formal charges are filed.
[.....]
Of the approximately 15 motions already filed by Christopher Watts’ attorney, public defender James Merson, Kopcow only addressed a few “time sensitive” requests in Thursday’s hearing. The judge granted a motion to require all law enforcement officers involved to keep any handwritten notes.
[.....]
Christopher Watts is next scheduled to appear in Weld County court Tuesday at 10 a.m., where he will be advised on his formal charges.

Yes, and based on what I've read about recovering bodies immersed in oil tanks- most likely had to completely drain
the tanks to recover the bodies. That's why the delay yesterday
in the media where they said they know where they are, but
have not recovered them.

It’s dependant on size of the tank. I’ve seen them 100,000 gals up. Those tanks do not empty fast. In fact the first pump is done by gravity. It’s also dangerous to stay anywhere near due to fumes around the hatch:access. And I don’t recall if he put them in a crude tank or a gasoline tank which might provide fuel for company vehicles.

The oil storage tanks can be huge. My kids both painted them on summer break from school. Great little job, but they are extremely big.

Closet narcissism:

n 1993, Masterson proposed two categories for pathological narcissism, "exhibitionist" and "closet".[1] Those with both styles of disorder fail to adequately develop an age- and phase- appropriate self because of defects in the quality of psychological nurturing provided by the mother or caregiver. The exhibitionist narcissist is similar to that described in DSM-IV and differs from the closet narcissist in several important ways.

The closet narcissist is more likely to be described as having a deflated, inadequate self perception and greater awareness of emptiness within, and seeks to mend this with an unquestioning dedication to an idealized other. The exhibitionist narcissist would be described as having an inflated, grandiose self perception with little or no conscious awareness of the emptiness within. Such a person would assume that this condition was normal but seeks the admiration of others for reassurance.

There is an analogy here with Kohut's "idealizing" and "mirror" narcissists (Masterson's "closet" and "exhibitionistic" narcissists), and a relationship to the developmental theory of Daniel Stern.

“covert narcissist” (Akhtar & Thompson, 1982; Wink, 1991), “closet narcissist” (Masterson, 1993), the “hypervigilant narcissist” (Gabbard, 2009), and the “hypersensitive narcissist” (Hendin & Cheek, 1997).

the closet narcissist is obsessed with his or her unfilled expectations of the self. Consequently, the closet narcissist is absorbed in grandiose fantasies that are unrealistic given the individual’s lack of initiative and self-confidence (

ties in financial irresponsibility

defining features of the closet narcissist include a shy and modest demeanor, hypersensitivity to criticism and failure, and shame related to unachieved goals. In addition, the closet narcissist often admires and idealizes those who are successful; however, he or she secretly experiences envy of and resentment toward them (Wink, 1991).

Deep down they feel inadequate for not being perfect, they cover their feelings by winning the approval of others by feeling special to them. However, when others do not provide the validation or approval they seek, ace the pain of an empty self, reliant on others to feel good about themselves. So, they fall apart when not feeling acknowledged by their partner, since they are unable to cope with how they feel about themselves.

I thought the teachers comment about him being a perfectionist interesting and her endless adoration of him on SM fits the bill

We've seen some horrible cases lately and this case is now one of them.

Its bad enough killing an adult but I cant even fathom someone so evil to strangle their own little girls. That is some kind of sick.
