I feel like there are often, in complicated scenarios, some situations of innocent/careless misinterpretation that add confusion.

For example, what if BM said he "headed home" from Denver/CS around 6pm, and somehow in the reporting that got rephrased as his claiming he ARRIVED at 6pm.

Not trying to suggest he's innocent, but I think these kinds of misinterpretations happen more often than we realize.

Do we know what time Barry called the neighbor? I'm thinking it would have been around five but I'm wondering how long he waited to call her after his daughter told him she couldn't reach Suzanne. I would think she tried contacting her mom long before five pm. Imo

I've wondered the same. I'm guessing the daughters also tried texting their mom.
I'm not sure about cell service in the area they were in. So, I'm wondering if they weren't able to actually get a call thru for some time. Then after not being able to reach her either by phone call or text where their service was good, they called their dad.

Excellent. Although I'm guessing reforms rather than domesticates (born free, and all that), possibly removing a thorn from its tender paw. There's a parable in that, somewhere...

The pressure seems to be mounting. I do worry a bit for the safety of SM's daughter in such fraught circumstances and hope they have a safety valve should things start to fracture further. It must be absolutely horrendous for them at this time.

I had not read this but wondered if he was doing this.
What would one tell their children why they stopped contact with their relatives from their missing mother's side?
Why wouldn't he want them all to comfort each other during this time?
That's just one more red flag to me.
He doesn't want them to be questioned, influenced or told rumors. moo

The gauntlet has officially been thrown. BM has been called out publicly by SM's family. IMO had had more than enough time to clear his name with LE. Itll be interesting to see how he responds

That's what I think, too. Unless the bike is the same color as the helmet. I think he ran out of space so the last word is underneath. Imo

That makes a lot of sense. If he was only 15 minutes away (6:00 pm arrival) then he should have been able to call it in or at least assess the situation himself when he got home before calling. He was in no hurry to get home. He wanted someone else to make the pertinent discovery.

That said, he is one of those liars who just makes it up along the way without any thought of future scrutiny. Being a good liar is hard work! So many stories and details to keep straight. I just don't think BM has the capacity for it. MOO

Perhaps his lying started another fight with SM?
Having to deal with a serial liar can be exhausting and a turn off.
Sometimes in their quest to be believed they can become quite aggressive.

Agree! I speculate that since CBI spoke with the Moorman family things have deteriorated between the family and BM. AM searched for his sister alongside BM, but was not buying the “accident”, got down the hill, right from the get-go. However, he still never suspected BM. It appears now AM has serious doubts and BM needs to keep the girls isolated from anyone that has doubts about him, regardless that the Moormans would never in anyway attempt to influence the girls, they just want to know how they’re doing. I sincerely hope BM has one shred of decency left and answers AM’s plea for the girls to call their sick grandfather. He should be encouraging them to do so given his state of health. Right there you can see the lack of empathy. If BM were sick and dying would he not want to see or at least hear from his children or grandchildren. The man has no empathy and no conscience.

That's how I read it. And I think he wanted the helmet found.

It will be interesting to see if the helmet is the "item" (per LE) or "article " (per BM) found belonging to SM four days later.

I honestly think it could go either way. The one thing BM does seem to show concern about, is how hes being perceived by the public. Now that SM brother has made a very specific and public plea to him, he may feel forced to do something. They left him no wriggle room or loops to sneak out of talking to LE (they clearly know his sneaky style well) Doing nothing could be just as bad a doing something. Granted hes a mixed bag of decision making so you could be right

They may not have know he was out-of-town but I have a feeling he was keeping a VERY close eye on his phone that day. Whether or not he immediately answered those texts or calls is another matter!

I don't either. I think BM thought all of this would have blown over by Memorial Day, and he could start enjoying his status as the grieving widower.

Heck, there should be a long line of people bringing him casseroles by now, right?
