I think the spot where he laid down is where I would start the search, and let him know that.

I want to say the spot that he laid down was in Crested Butte which is well outside the 30-40 mile radius of the home.

Crested Butte is 90 minutes away from Maysville though.

Apologies in advance for how gruesome this thought is:

Would BM kill an elk out of season, process the carcass keeping the meat in a cooler(s) and then leave out the skull/tissue out and possible some additional meat to lure mountain lions? Would BM then murder SM, cut up the body and hide the human remains under the processed elk, and then go an dispose of the elk, human remains, and coolers? And then need to clean off your saw thoroughly with bleach?
We know that the hotel room smelled of bleach and that there were soaked towels left in the room.
Possibly work tools but maybe other implements as well ? :(

My opinion is ; how fortuitous to have the hotel staff clean up evidence.
They would've innocently put the towels into the laundry and not thought anything was out of the ordinary.
Ugh !
Cold and chilling to think of anyone who processes those thoughts in advance.
Imo.

See my post above. I was basically saying the same thing, except I wanted to know if it would confuse scent dogs.

That’s a good point. Either confuse the dogs on scent or possible contaminate DNA/blood samples?

Good morning All, just wanted to give a quick update on my plans regarding the search for Suzanne.

I will not be able to leave until Friday morning as I couldn’t find coverage at work for tomorrow, Thursday. COVID has really increased our workload in the mental health setting. I booked a room for 2 nights (Friday night and Saturday night). I plan on attending the vigil on Friday night and then the search on Saturday and Sunday. I am a bit concerned that I will miss Thursday’s search assignments and then not be assigned to a group. I tried emailing, but understandably, have not heard back. Hopefully it will all work out.

I will drive Highway 285 and then take some pics of the area, just FYI. If you guys would like me to visit any particular places and take pics, please let me know. I can definitely do that. :)

Also, if all of you that plan to attend the search let me know who you are, I will create a private conversation so we can maybe exchange contact information, if everybody is comfortable with that.

I will definitely take pics and post on a daily basis. It may be in evening, thou, when I am back at the hotel.

Anyway, let me know if there is anything in particular that I can do and check out while I am in Salida. :)

ADT Cams and Sea Kelp?
This case has been very frustrating, as LE has kept everything so close to the vest.... recent tragic case of a missing young pregnant woman in Seattle... last night, her remains were found and her ex boyfriend was ARRESTED.
... 'memo' posted by Pierce County LE... laid out a detailed description of their case against their suspect.
If you are feeling down about Suzanne's case now, just click on this link and read a quick rundown of what kind of evidence Chaffee LE probably has on Suzanne's murderer.
Kassanndra Cantrell: Body of missing pregnant woman found in Pierce County; suspect arrested
@katydid23 sbm Yes, thank you for your post w link. For example, (allegedly ex-) boyfriend's action and stmt: Phoned his home security system provider, then texted wife, to say "don’t freak out if the ADT cams are down." LE perseverance in physical searches: Her phone last pinged close to Puget Sound, where divers would later find it buried in sea kelp on the ocean floor. Plus more.

In CO, BM's actions and stmts have been similarly stupidly transparent in retrospect, and CCSO, CBI, & FBI have been similarly diligent, even tho we don't have the deets. my2cts.

I'm quoting myself here because I am truly curious about this question, and WS has so many smart, knowledgeable people in this thread.

Would it be possible for dogs to miss human remains because they were buried with animal remains? I could see someone (BM) thinking that if both were placed in a cooler and buried, then dogs may confuse the scent and not alert. Is this a possibility or would dogs alert anyway?

There's numerous articles online which state search dogs CAN distinguish between animal remains and human remains.
My German Shepherd points her nose up, and sniffs the air at night to determine whether a bear (usually) or other
animal or man is prowling around my farm.
She has a distinctive "Bear Bark", which is much more
fierce than her normal alerting bark.

Thanks! I've read articles saying that dogs can distinguish between human and animal remains, but I haven't found anything about if the 2 were actually mixed together.

Admittedly, I'm at work and trying to sleuth, so I definitely could miss something! :)

I would bet that PE has helped AM immensely, with behind-the-scenes, legacy relationships they have with LE all over the states, after a career lifetime of networking.

I read it that he can be accounted for either side of 3.5 hours, not 7.

MOO
Agreed. Or a combination of when SM was last seen and when the perp was seen. Gosh, I would love to know...

Re BBM
I cant shake the news we heard of BM laying down on the ground near the top of a cliff or "Bluff" as I think it was called. Sorry I dont remember where we heard about that but we did hear that about him laying on the ground near some sort of bluff or cliff while he was initially searching with others in the beginning.

JMO

I think the spot where he laid down is where I would start the search, and let him know that.

rsbm

oviedo, I looked in the media thread, but could not quickly find the information about where BM laid down on the ground.

Iirc, he and some searchers were up by Crested Butte when this happened—did we ever find out why they were up there? And it was fairly soon after SUZANNE’s disappearance.

Google says Crested Butte is one hour fifty minutes from Salida, so it’s a bit outside the three and a half hour round trip window Andy mentioned.

Crested Butte and the the lying down incident remains a question for me.

Perhaps he needed the bobcat attachment from the Salida site.... spent time there, truck running..... then drove to the location of the "roadkill" elk. Dug a hole, buried a cooler, used the bobcat to move the elk atop the grave.

He wouldn't know the intricacies of cadaver dogs but might think, if they get all excited, handlers would write it off, on account of the elk.

Regarding searching on the Morphew property itself:

I'm remembering back to the Berreth case, where a WS member drove to near the Frazee property and then deployed a drone, from which various angles of the private property were visible.

I wonder if/hope something similar might occur re the Morphew property during this search? Looking for recently disturbed soil or fresh vehicle tracks where they would not normally be...

something interesting i noticed, and pure speculation, so imo.

"if anybody out here can find anything, i am all for it..."

just want to mention (once again) BM's indefinite pronoun usage.

this kind of language is not dissimilar to "where is it," when asked if he was having an affair, as well as "this thing" when referring to the disappearance/death of his wife saving one person's life.

i'm no expert, (i just play one on websleuths lol), but i'd say his choice of words tells us he is so far distanced from not only his wife, but her disappearance, too. he will not say her name, he did not mutter it once in his conversation with tyson, but he also cannot speak about the search. you'd expect him to say "if they want me to help with the search, then i'll help with the search. instead he says "if they ask me to help, then i'll help," leaving it really open-ended as to what he wants to help with. he is bothered, y'all.

i think he's feeling some guilt, actually. wouldn't that be a major reason you wouldn't be able to say those important words, as opposed to just being a psychopath? c'mon BM, spill it. the walls have got to be caving in every hour this search gets closer. makes me kinda scared for the people around him.
bbm
All of this, great post !

Esp. the bolded which is horrifying in retrospect. :(

Ok gotcha, I'm no expert but IF the human remains were still giving off the scent, even if mixed with other scents, the dog would still alert to the human remains. Once these search dogs learn their alerting skills, it's hard to
fool them. MOO

If I were BMs mother or sister, I would be apalled and would find him and give him a swift kick in the rear then disown him! Imagine an INNOCENT man saying something like this? It would never happen.
I sort of envision Barry being coddled by women - his whole life.

Would BM then murder SM, cut up the body and hide the human remains under the processed elk, and then go an dispose of the elk, human remains, and coolers? And then need to clean off your saw thoroughly with bleach? Perhaps even all of your tools if the saw was placed back in a tool box to avoid suspicion.

Also, would disposing of elk steaks with human remains increase the likelihood that an animal would come and eat/take away both aiding in the disposal of the body and difficulty in locating it?

And if this actually happened, is there some Freudian aspect of BM saying that a mountain lion got her? As that was his intent all along, just not in a bike ride scenario?
If she is buried in a cooler that wouldn't fit with the narrative that a cat got her.I just think he shoved her off a cliff if he did anything at all. However if bones or clothing is found scattered aound then he can say"see a cat got her",but if they find her buried his a** is in a sling.

I'm so thankful LE was able to find Kassanndra, they knew from the beginning of the case this would be the outcome :(

My ears really perked up at the way LE was able to locate her. Using the boyfriends GPS data from his truck. I imagine the location was one of many they searched, because she has been missing for a month.

Does CCSO have the same info from Barry's truck?

I’m no psychologist but perhaps the rumors LS has heard about BM and drug use are true? He’s very erratic, agitated, paranoid and seems to be operating in an alternate reality.

I’m actually really curious what BM is going to be doing today. No doubt LE is watching him closely today. Will BM panic and make a rash move knowing that in 24 hours the search is on?
I'm a little worried about that too. Would he do away with himself to avoid arrest and facing the consequences?
