The search continued Tuesday with only dogs. Sheriff John Spezze said there is no need for volunteers. Sheriff Spezze would not comment on whether or not Morphew bike was recovered. By late afternoon Tuesday, Morphew had not been found.

This is an ongoing investigation and the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office asks that any person or persons who may have information please call the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office at 719-539-2596 or Chaffee County Crime Stoppers at 719-539-2599.
More than 100 help search for missing woman in Chaffee County
The boldened words are bizarre. LE is asking for the public's help, but won't tell if the bike has been located or not, wont even give a description of the bike.

So I'm thinking either LE has the bike or the bike was found at home.

ETA: I meant either LE found the bike "somewhere" or they found it at home.

Following... thanks, Warwick !
Will catch up reading from the beginning.
IF they have her bike... then what the __?
So, she wasn't out riding ?

Was her car and personal items (phone, purse) found at the house ?

Sorry I'm getting ahead of myself.
Will read back at page 1 now. ;)

Well, we don't actually know LE has the bike - just that they haven't released a description of the bike for the public to look for. Which is....odd, considering she went missing, supposedly, while riding her bike.

I thought the same thing and we have had too many sad Colorado cases lately. With the Patrick Frazee murder of Kelsey Berreth, and the recent murder of Gannon Stauch allegedly by his step Mom, and now this case, its starting to be a bad trend there in Colorado.

I pray there is still hope in finding Suzanne alive and well. It doesnt look very promising right now but lets hope it can somehow have a happy ending with this one.

To help give people a feel for the area near where Suzanne lived, the "Monarch Pass" was mentioned and I drove over that pass a couple times many years ago when visiting Crested Butte ski area. Its called a "Pass" because its like other "Mountain Passes" and it is literally at the very top of one of the many Rocky Mountains in that area and the elevation is 11,312 feet. Its a beautiful area there and these Colorado cases lately are putting a damper on a wonderful state and area.

Someone else kindly shared this map link of the area on a previous page. All that rough looking terrain are huge mountains. When you are near Monarch Pass you are basically in the middle of serious mountains and it is beautiful.

Oh wow another CO case - my goodness so many.

I'm just catching up on her case, she looks so wholesome and sweet. To disappear on Mother's Day of all days....

100k after 2 days missing, golly. That's pretty unheard of, but who knows who is putting up the $. Definitely makes this case more interesting.
This really shocks me.....

New to this case, and I've been reading what there is out there. Which is very little, actually. Something doesn't sit right with this. :(

LE is very close to the cuff with descriptions of what she may have been wearing, and what the bike looks like. I think that is so odd.

Finally -- local reporter traveled to Salida area and spoke to the Sheriff:

I am headed to an area near Salida, where the County Sheriff’s office tells me they are searching for a missing woman. A neighbor reported that 49-year-old Suzanne Morphew went on a bike ride and never returned home. https://bit.ly/2LCyQxD

The Sheriff’s Office has blocked off the road at Hwy 50 and County Road 225. According to online records, Suzanne Morphew may have a house down this road. There looks to be a few houses down the road that I can see through the trees.

The Sheriff has declined to speak with me on camera, and has no new information for the media. He did say they are working on a tip line but did not have the info available yet. He could not confirm any reward being offered. They are not asking for the public’s help searching.

Also, the Chaffee County Sheriff says they are not considering it a criminal investigation, but it’s not being ruled out.

Thanks Seattle!
So we don't know if it is a criminal investigation or not.

Not ruled out but I'm more confident that NY Post took some liberties with their story. Then again, they had nobody competing with their version until now!

Yeah none of this is making sense. SO little info being shared from LE, noncommittal responses. FBI involved quite fast. High reward almost immediately. No plea from family. No official FB missing page, as of yet. Rest of the family traveling/out of town, alone on Mother's Day. Additionally, the "we think that she went missing on this date" is concerning. I'd like to know the last time someone spoke to her by phone or saw her in person. Wondering if she simply changed her FB settings to private in Oct 2019, or stopped posting entirely.

I don't know, my hinky meter is going off, and I don't like it. If this was just a case of a biker injured or lost, I'd think that LE would be behaving differently. I'd like to be wrong.

ETA: Also, LE not being willing to say if the husband was or was not in town (original reporting was that he was in Denver on business, right?). I don't know guys.

On Wednesday, Sheriff John Spezze told CBS4 while it’s an open investigation, he would not rule out a criminal investigation. He adds the probability of an animal attack is not very high.

The FBI and Colorado Bureau of Investigations are now involved.

Spezze would not say whether they found her bike, or if the husband was in town when she was reported missing.

So the previous quote about it being a criminal investigation was perhaps a Freudian slip?

So many red flags. I’ve not often heard of a missing persons case with no description of the bike they were riding, clothing last seen wearing, when she left, etc...

Why was it the neighbor who actually called to report her missing, and not a family member? Even if my husband called the neighbor to check on me, the first thing he would do if they couldn’t find me is dial 911.

I want to believe the husband has nothing to do with it, but why won’t they confirm if he is being cooperative? It’s pretty standard to say “he is fully cooperating”, or even “so and so is not cooperating with police.”

There is SO little being released in this case. I don’t find the reward completely alarming, it sounds like one of them may come from a very wealthy background-But perhaps they know more than we do, and the reward is a sign that they believe there is more to it than just a simple bike ride where she got lost.

This isn’t going to have a happy ending. I just don’t know if it’s domestic, or stranger abduction. If a family member wasn’t involved, I would expect public pleas for her safety, for people to be on the lookout for her or for her bike, etc...
