how sad. many prayers out to those involved.

when a school goes into lockdown...are the teachers still teaching the class?

i have been teaching in classrooms during lockdowns. i always tried to keep it as normal as possible. the high school kids mainly ask alot of questions you cannot answer (lack of info) and speculate. we also have had to shelter in place as we worked in multiple buildings. they get a little nervous but mostly are ok. one time it turned into a really good learning experience. lockdowns occur more than any one is aware of i believe. we had been locked down for robberies in area with any gun/weapon possibilities. we also sheltered in place for a gun on campus, only finding out later that's what it was. (turned out to be a police detective.) better safe than sorry!

younger children may not even realize it is going on in a self contained building. they simply do not let them out for recess or other reasons. the key factor there would be to not panic and keep teaching.

As I understand it, the badge was dropped by someone. The shooter did not necessarily have it.

NBC is confirming that Aaron Alexis was arrested for discharging a firearm in 2010. He was supposedly cleaning it when it discharged.

There is a person by the same name with an arrest in Ft Worth in 2010 for discharging a firearm....

they just reported on NBC that it was him and that at the time a neighbor to his apt called police when a bullet ripped thru her wall/ceiling. He told police that he was cleaning the weapon and it slipped causing it to discharge. Charges were never filed in the case.

if something is on the msm you can post that. Until we get something from LE we need to hold off on further sleuthing of this alleged person. The identity has already been misreported at least once today.

NBC is now reporting that the 3rd suspect will most likely turn out to be the shooter. In other words, probably no 3rd suspect.
