Decorah, IA - Bald Eagle Cam: Watch the babies! #2

Feeding time!

Finally slept through it.

Yep, and I think I see a new meal there that I hadn't seen before. Maybe a rabbit or something? Looks fresher than the other stuff, which I don't even see anymore.

I just did a 'print screen, copy to paint' thingy, cropped, saved and made these cuties the background on my puter. :D Love them!

This afternoon is supposed to be the first wave of the nasty stuff and then again over night and tomorrow afternoon.

Link someone posted on the Iowa weather thread down the page a little bit

Saw all three babies earlier today (an hour or two ago) and all were moving around. Finally is not moving as much, but I attribute it to the fact he/she is the youngest and is behind in development.

something happening close to 1 o'clock again ... both mom & pop were barking at something

If you look on Youtube they have a short video, taken at ground level, showing the nest from below. It is rather close to the house. They also show video of egg hatching. Just search for Decorah Eagles. :)

yeah I saw those videos .. they have links posted on the RR page

I just wasn't sure why the camera was zooming on the barn windows at that particular time ... thought maybe there was a specific reason for it?

these eagles have really renewed my interest in all the birds in my own backyard - I watch them all the time but now I'm more alert & aware of their individual behaviours

O/T: we have a woodpecker and I've never seen more than one, which I think is odd

They look good and I agree, finally is a bit slower, but the others have quite a bit of development on him. I also noticed Sassy picking meat off the crow carcass by himself earlier...these guys come along fast!

Auggghhhh... the feisty one (the oldest)? is picking on the other two! Daddy(?) just arrived and is settling them down and sitting on them again-- thank God. I was getting worried that the youngest one, who I assumed is the one that is not as active as the others, wasn't going to make it.

Sassypants (I assume) is getting incredibly independant ... and they're all getting so big it seems!

haha Wobbles is chewing on a stick and Sassy is still a good few inches away from the hollow of the nest

I slept wayyy in this morning. Thank you all for posting about what's going on. The upcoming weather for them is making me quite nervous, but, like a few of you have pointed out, the nest is being monitored so hopefully, if anything were to happen, they'll have a resource for rescue.

AHHHh Just turned the cam on.. Why are they not getting that baby back to the bowl?

ETA: ok, she/he moved closer to Momma. LOL

fortifying the nest again

I think they're as worried about the weather as we are ...

Little Sassy is a wee bit too close to the edge of that nest for my liking. I wish dad (?) would get him/her back closer in.

Me too. I always was a worry wart about kids and small animals.

I almost can't watch. He's gettin' so close to the edge its scaring me.

Then it looked like he was trying to get back to dad - now he's turned around again.

Why does dad (?) keep "luching forward" like that every once in a while. Its almost like he's getting a "pain"? Maybe the little one underneath is pecking?
