DR, Sudiksha Konanki, 20, Punta Cana, 6 March 2025 #2

It has been almost three weeks since Sudiksha Konanki was last seen, and it is believed that she drowned and the under currents in the water flowed her body into the open sea.

But her body has not resurfaced or been found yet.

And you have Joshua Riibe's hazy memory of seeing Sudiksha in the water before passing out from his alcoholic blackout.

Is there any possibility at all that once Joshua passed out, Sudiksha walks out of the water, but in her stupor she passes by her things that were on the beach, and as she walks toward the hotel, she is accosted by someone?

That could be a possible scenario as to why her body hasn't been found if she had drowned.

What are your thoughts about this possible scenario?

Yes anything is possible. What i have a problem with are the hours that JR is unaccounted for besides being conveniently passed out .Unless they have eyewitness accounts from hotel workers and other patrons that can attest to seeing him. We're not privy to that information. MOO

Riu Hotel beach returns to normal after the search for Sudiksha Konanki
Authorities have not yet provided conclusive details about the disappearance, but they are continuing the investigation to clarify the facts. Meanwhile, Punta Cana 's tourism sector continues to operate normally, reaffirming its commitment to the safety of its visitors.

I do believe that there was no one around at the beach

Now the DR has to invest a lot of money in search.

In hindsight it would have been easier to keep a guard at the beach.

Another point, both Sudiksha and Riibe were vomiting. To me it would point at the poor quality of alcohol in that bar.

Maybe “all inclusive” should limit the amount of alcohol. Sorry but for the resort to make money, their unlimited alcohol has to be cheap. Five, six people drowned there since January 2025? Too many. Perhaps all hotels should weigh in the forthcoming loss of tourists and make changes. Just limit the amount of alcohol served at the bar. It will be cheaper in the end.

A very young, very pretty, very drunk woman being accosted by someone is a plausible scenario anywhere. There probably is the same percentage of maniacs in any given place. If so, either the person knows the cameras location and how to avoid them, or she doesn’t walk towards the hotel (because she is never seen on cameras) or…was there supposed to be a guard on the beach that night? And have they checked all the cameras?

***This video is NOT of Punta Cana, it is NOT Sudiksha and Joshua. It is from July 2024 in Sochi, Russia ***

I came across this video because apparently a clip of it was being used in a video about Sudiksha which made it misleading some to think it was of the Punta Cana incident. (LINK)
However, it does demonstrate how something similar might have happened in Sudiksha’s situation.

As it says at the beginning of the video: “Warning. Contains scenes some viewers may find distressing.”

I do wonder what, if any, regulations are in place regarding the safe consumption of alcohol at the resort, especially considering the all inclusive policy. Not to mention the fact that the legal age for drinking in the USA is 21, and only 18 in the DR. You're potentially going from zero access to alcohol to a free for all, which is hardly responsible. The resort in question does have a policy regarding spring break groups, which they categorise as 21 years+, but I believe Sudiksha was 20, so I'm not sure how that got past them. I'm glad that Australia has a Responsible Service of Alcohol act in place, which huge fines for businesses that fail to comply. It's not foolproof, but most venues adhere to it.

I've read about this tragic story before.
AFAIR, her body was found by rescuers 5 days later.
It was washed ashore few miles from where she went missing. :(

Wow. Thank you so much for sharing this. It was difficult to watch, but so valuable in understanding just how quickly this can happen. As someone with not a lot of experience with beaches, this situation did not register with me as so dangerous! This really helps me understand a situation that I was not able to picture before. Horrifying.

The video is so disturbing & tragic - but shows us all how the sea can be! In Jamaica we have “Northers” that also affect the DR….around the same time (March 6th) we had red flags because of a “norther” all up on our beaches also as the waves were huge, and undertow powerful…we have the Caribbean Sea around us which is calm usually. And reefs, but it will still very rough. Lifeguards are also on duty to prevent anyone from entering the water when the red flags system is up, and at night security teams do the same throughout the night. Where was the security in the DR at RIU.

You have pointed out another possibility that Sudiksha could have walked away from the hotel property. That would be plausible if in her stupor she was walking to an area that had lights.

The hours that Joshua Riibe can not account for are a concern. Then you have at least 12 hours or so before Sudiksha Konanki is reported missing.

In hindsight I wonder if using dogs that sniffed the scent from Sudiksha's clothing would have helped after she was reported missing.

That’s the thing. I have been to the Black Sea, in my childhood and youth, many times. Usually at such resorts, they’d use so-called “wave-cutters”, made out of concrete and extending into the sea. But even as such, I would never get near such waves; as a child. I once almost drowned in the Baltic Sea.
But the problem is, lots of people have little experience with water but think they do. This is why I think all resorts have to add specific posts in addition to red flags on stormy days.

I agree. The first thought I had when I read about them searching was “they should use dogs, not only drones.”

They did use dogs in addition to other methods. There’s a photo at this link.

I was going to say I thought I remembered seeing something about dogs uses. Now, there are dogs that can be used on water, but that is on lakes/ponds. They would not work on ocean surf, so I hope people aren't thinking that is an option.

I think it is almost certain that Sudiksha went into the water (otherwise she would have been found by now). And whatever remains there are got carried out.

I didn't see this before
