Makes sense....she would not take her phone in swimming - THIS is not a good sign.
Though it seems that if she didn't have her phone because she was going swimming, that the guy she was with (who apparently was also going swimming) may have.

Right? Someone did if she was sending Venmo payments shortly before she was last seen.

I don't think we know that she was sending Venmo payments "shortly before she was last seen." (Are we allowed to discuss her Venmo activity?)

I'm not sure how the power situation affected things that night, but you'd think there would be security walking the beaches at night. That's how I always remember spring break.

You've also got daylight covering most of the 5am - 10am timeframe and we can assume they weren't the only ones out there, too.

Could be something as tragic as they both fell asleep on the beach, she gets up to take a quick swim and is gone. He wakes up and has no idea what happened.

If that's the case, surely there would witnesses, etc. to back up whatever story he has.

Of course, it could be something else, but I'd think that would/will be obvious to investigators pretty quickly.

YES The article says she left her phone with her friends (that's what anyone would do if going in the water)

Snipped....
....The complaint notes that the student’s belongings, including her phone and wallet, were left with her friends, “which is unusual because she always carried her phone with her.”

I've been to the DR a lot, it's been a while though, but I have NEVER seen security walking the beach, they have always been strategically placed at the beginning of the beach and end of the beach to make sure no one without the wrist band gets onto the property, with very large g*ns.

And wouldn't he have called for help if she got into trouble in the waves?

If her phone had no power, it makes complete sense she would leave it behind rather than take it to the beach (in a bikini). Regardless of whether that was normal behavior for her, a phone without power is like carrying a brick. It's not useful and heavy and awkward.

MOD NOTE: Venmo activity is fine - I expect you can't provide screenshots without your name showing, so just talk about what you see (without naming names of recipients) and we'll leave it unless/until you all start disagreeing with what you see. :)

Seems her friends were also at the beach FWIW at least initially (cctv)

“We are aware of reports of a University of Pittsburgh student missing in the Dominican Republic. Due to privacy considerations, we have nothing further to share at this time,” the State Department told TIME in an emailed statement. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a press release on Sunday they were working with the Department of State, FBI, DEA, and Homeland Security Investigations and the University of Pittsburgh police to help with the investigation.

The Dominican Republic is currently on a level 2 travel advisory, which encourages visitors to exercise increased caution due to crime. ''

This includes all persons of interest who may have seen or been with her. Our office believes all possibilities need to be explored, as well as any evidence that may be uncovered to learn happened based on her last known whereabouts."

The young man believed to have stayed with Konanki at the beach has told police multiple versions of the last time he saw the University of Pittsburgh student, the local police source told CNN.

He told authorities they both went into the ocean but he felt sick, got out of the water and fell asleep on a lounge chair, according to the source. He has said Konanki may have been swept away by a wave, left when he got out of the water, or saw her walking along the beach with the water up to her knees in the direction of where she had left her clothes, the source said.

The young man is not considered to be a suspect at this time.

I took these screenshots today (3/10/25), that show her three most recent public actions on her Venmo. I am not sure the “4 days ago” is accurate given what we know. The first transaction is to someone she frequently exchanges funds with via Venmo. (Edited to add that after taking new screenshots the venmo transactions now say "5 days ago.")

Oops, I uploaded the wrong photos. I'll be back with the recipient's name blocked. that was a challenge for my old lady eyes.

How is it that the guy who has told three different stories about the last time he saw her (and she is now missing) not considered a suspect? Lock his behind up for telling at least two lies to LE!

I wonder what and how much alcohol or drugs might’ve been at play here. Is it possible he’s changing his story because (assuming he didn’t do anything to her), maybe he can’t remember clearly the order of things or things at all?
